One Piece Chapter 2.3, page 20-22: That Boy "The Straw Hat Wearing Luffy"

Luffy stretches his arm far back, preparing his attack. Coby, Alvida, and the pirates watch in utter disbelief, shouting, "NO WAAAY!!!" and "HUH?!" Luffy yells, "GOMU GOMU NO... PISTOL..." and unleashes a powerful, stretched punch that strikes Alvida squarely in the face. The force of the blow sends her flying backward through the air, knocking her hat off.

Alvida lies unconscious on the ground, completely defeated. The pirates panic, screaming, ".........!!! HIS ARM... HIS ARM EXTENDED!! CAPTAIN! ALVIDA-SAMA WAS BEATEN!!! BY THAT MONSTER!!" Luffy turns to the remaining crew members and points at them, commanding, "PREPARE A BOAT FOR COBY! HE WANTS TO JOIN THE MARINES!! SO STAY OUTTA HIS WAY!" Terrified, the pirates quickly bow and reply, "Y... YES." Luffy smiles warmly, "HEE HEE HEE HEE!" Coby cries tears of joy and gratitude, whispering, "LUFFY-SAN...

Luffy and Coby sail away from the island in a small boat. Coby says, "YOU ACTUALLY ATE THE RUBBER-RUBBER FRUIT. AWESOME! BUT... LUFFY-SAN, IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR THE 'ONE PIECE'...UM THAT MEANS YOU HAVE TO GET INTO THE 'GRAND LINE,' RIGHT..?!!" Luffy replies, "YEP!" Coby warns, "BUT THAT PLACE IS KNOWN AS THE PIRATES' GRAVEYARD." Luffy smiles, "YEA, THAT'S WHY I NEED A STRONG CREW." Coby asks, "AND ONE OF THEM IS.. BEING HELD CAPTIVE AT THE PLACE YOU'RE GOING. YOU MEAN... RORONOA ZORO?" Luffy grins, "IF HE'S A GOOD GUY, I'D ASK HIM TO JOIN ME!" Coby screams in panic, "WHAAAT?! YOU'RE DREAMING AGAIN!!! YOU CAN'T! HE'S LIKE A MONSTER!" Luffy calmly says, "WE CAN'T BE SURE ABOUT THAT YET." Coby despairs, "IT'LL NEVER WORK!!" A narration box at the bottom reads: "THE LITTLE BOAT SAILS TOWARD THE MARINES' BASE.
