Rayleigh stated in chapter 507, that when they reach Laughtale, they might come to a different conclusion than the roger pirates. If it was merely the arrival of the people of the ancient kingdom, then there would be no conclusion to draw. Roger was dying and couldnt have waited. Rayleigh saying they reached a conclusion implies that they DID have an option they couldve taken at that point.
