He writes about his early passion for drawing pirate manga since 7th grade, his experience playing soccer, and how the massive scale of his pirate story ideas led him to save the concept for a serialization in Jump. He also mentions drawing a previous prototype version of 'Romance Dawn' and his transition after working as an assistant for Nobuhiro Watsuki on 'Rurouni Kenshin'.
