One Piece Chapter 52, page 13-15: OATH

From the deck of the Going Merry, Usopp calls out in a panic, "USOPP! IS ZORO ALRIGHT!?" (or rather, someone calls to Usopp, and Usopp replies), "LIKE HELL HE'D BE ALRIGHT! BUT HE IS STILL ALIVE! HE ONLY LOST HIS CONSCIOUS!". Johnny and Yosaku weep over Zoro, begging, "BRO...! PLEASE ANSWER US...!". Suddenly, a sword is raised straight up into the air from the boat. Everyone gasps in shock, and Luffy mutters, "ZORO?".

Zoro, barely conscious and coughing up blood, weakly calls out, "L-LUFFY... C...CAN YOU HEAR ME...?". Luffy replies softly, "YEAH!". Zoro continues, "SORRY FOR WORRYING YOU... THAT IF I DON'T BECOME... THE WORLD'S STRONGEST SWORDSMAN, IT WILL ONLY EMBARRASS YOU...!". Johnny and Yosaku cry out, "BRO! BRO! PLEASE DON'T TALK ANYMORE!". Sanji and the other cooks watch the emotional scene in silence as Zoro gasps, "GUH!".

With tears and blood streaming down his face, Zoro raises his sword high and screams his solemn vow: "THAT I'M NEVER GOING TO LOSE AGAIN! UNTIL THE DAY I FIGHT HIM AND WIN... TO NEVER LOSE AGAIN! I SWEAR!". Hearing this, Luffy grins widely and shouts back, "I SWEAR!". Mihawk looks on with a satisfied smile, acknowledging the young swordsman's unbreakable spirit.
