THE PLOT". The title page features a cover illustration of Roronoa Zoro training or sparring with a kangaroo. Zoro holds a wooden shinai in his mouth and another in his hand, while the kangaroo, dressed in a kendo outfit, holds two shinai and leaps in the air with a wide-open mouth. Pirate flags with skull-and-crossbones designs are pitched in the background. Inside the mansion, Merry presents a small package to Kaya, saying, "Ojou-sama... The special order you placed in the neighboring town has arrived, here's the item. Is there anything else that you will need?" Kaya happily takes the box and replies, "Yes, thank you! That's all! I'm so sorry that I had you run all the way over there." Merry smiles warmly, responding, "You're welcome. I love to be of service! That's a present right? I'm sure Clahador will be very happy!" Kaya blushes slightly and confirms, "Yes, tomorrow will be Clahador's 3rd year anniversary since he came to this place. He takes really good care of me." Usopp runs frantically through the streets of Syrup Village, screaming at the top of his lungs, "Everyone! Please listen! There are pirates coming...!! Pirates are really going to attack us tomorrow!!" The villagers, completely fed up with his daily lies, chase after him with brooms, hoes, and clubs. They yell back, "Only an idiot would believe you! We're not going to fall for that crap again!" Usopp desperately tries to convince them, shouting, "But this time it's for real!" One of the villagers yells, "I'm going to get you this time!" Realizing they won't listen, Usopp runs ahead, muttering, "Fine, if you don't believe me!" The villagers curse him, amazed at how fast he can run. Down by the shore, the three kids of the Usopp Pirates are in complete shock after hearing the news. Tamanegi cries out, "The village is gonna be attacked?!? Is that true? Straw-hat niichan!?" Piiman gasps, "They're going to kill Kaya-san?" and Ninjin screams, "Oh... my god!!" Luffy calmly confirms with a simple, "Yep." Zoro adds, "That's what the guy said," and Nami agrees, "There's no doubt about it." Zoro then turns to Luffy and asks, "Oh yeah, why were you sleeping over there anyways?" Luffy scratches his head, trying to remember: "Hmmm... I remember I was on top of the cliff..." Meanwhile, the kids are furious, shouting, "That bastard butler was a bad guy!" "No wonder he gave me the creeps!" and "And that hypnotist was a fake as well!" Nami warns the children, "So, that's why your captain... ran to the village in such a hurry to warn them! Well that's good, you guys are the first to know, you should escape while you can! It'll be too late when the pirates get here!" Terrified, Ninjin shouts, "Yeah! Then we should run away!" Piiman agrees, "Yes! Pack up our important stuffs!" and Tamanegi starts listing his treasures: "My allowance money, and snacks... and my model ship..." The three kids run off in a panic, shouting, "Gotta hurry!!" Nami watches them go and asks, "What now?" Zoro sighs, "Oh no!" while Luffy screams in sudden panic, "We haven't bought our meat yet! Even the butcher will soon run away!" Usopp arrives at Kaya's mansion, completely out of breath. He climbs up to her window and knocks urgently. Kaya opens the window, surprised and relieved: "Usopp-san!! I was worried that you wouldn't come back again..." Usopp, sweating and panting, cuts her off: "Kaya! Hurry! You have to escape! Or else you will be killed!" Kaya is confused and asks, "What's wrong?" Usopp yells, "You were lied by that butler!! He's actually a pirate!!" Kaya tries to calm him down, saying, "Wait... wait a minute... What are you talking about? How can Clahador be a pirate?" Usopp insists, "It's true! I accidentally overheard... a conversation that guy had with his comrade. That butler came to work for you because of your wealth! He became your butler in order to obtain your family's wealth! Tomorrow morning, he's going to let his pirate crew to attack our village! And then he's going to come and kill you!" Kaya stares at him in disbelief, asking, "What are you talking about, Usopp-san?" Usopp continues to plead, "If you don't leave now! It will be too late!" but Kaya looks at him with deep disappointment and says, "Usopp-san! I was wrong about you!" Outside the gate, Kuro (Clahador) hears the commotion and commands his guards, "Hey, what's that noise? Go check it out!" One of the guards, a man with slicked-back hair, grumbles, "Shit! It's that kid again!" Back at the window, Kaya tells Usopp, "I can't believe you are doing this to get your revenge on Clahador... I know he was a bit harsh on you... talking about your father that way... but..." I was just having my revenge on that butler, by making up stories about him being a pirate!" Luffy, Zoro, and Nami watch him in silence. The three kids are completely dumbfounded. The kids look at Usopp with deep disappointment, saying, "Captain shouldn't make up lies just because of this. That's not honorable!" and "No matter how mean that butler is... Captain, I never thought you would make up lies to hurt others." Disappointed, the three kids turn their backs on Usopp and walk away, saying, "Lets go home!" "Yeah! Go home and eat dinner!" and "Wonder what's for dinner." Usopp stands alone under the crescent moon, watching them leave. Luffy, Zoro, and Nami watch him from a distance. Usopp sits down on the grass, clutching his injured arm, and thinks to himself, "Because I used to lie all the time... no one believes a word I say now! But no one believes me! They all think tomorrow will just be another peaceful day... They're definitely going to attack in the morning. Even so... the fact that those pirates are going to attack, is the truth, right?" Usopp stands up, clenching his fist, and yells with fierce determination, "Since everyone thinks I'm a liar, then this will just become one of my lies! In order to protect the village, I'll protect this village myself and prevent the pirates from attacking!" Luffy, Zoro, and Nami watch him, surprised by his resolve. Usopp sits back down, looking at his hands, and mutters quietly, "Although they... fired guns at me... and they chased after me with broomsticks... here... in the village where I grew up!" Usopp cries, confessing, "I love this village! I want to protect everyone..." Zoro smiles slightly and says, "You are a pretty good guy, you lied to your crew so that you can do this alone..." Nami steps forward, saying, "How can I just watch... everyone get killed..." Luffy grins widely, cracking his knuckles: "Okay! I'm definitely going to butt-in this one!" Nami winks and adds, "But first things first, all their treasure is mine!" Usopp looks up at them in complete disbelief, stammering, "What...?"
