One Piece Chapter 12, page 8-10: Chapter 12: DOG

Before anyone can grab the key, Chouchou walks over, sniffs it, and swallows it whole with a 'CHONK'. Luffy, Zoro, and Nami stare in absolute shock and disbelief. Luffy grabs the dog and begins shaking him violently, screaming, 'Cough it up!! That's not food!! Gimme that key!!' The dog whimpers, 'Yipe yipe!', while Luffy continues to yell, 'Dumb dog!' and shakes him as the cage rattles with a 'KLANG KLANG'.

An elderly man wearing armor and carrying a spear suddenly appears, shouting, 'Dern whippersnappers! Don't you pick on poor ol' Chou-Chou!' Luffy, still holding the dog, asks, 'Who're you, old timer?' while Nami repeats, 'Chouchou?' The old man proudly strikes a pose and declares, 'Who am I? I'm the mayor of this town... That's who!' A caption identifies him as 'Boodle Mayor of Port Town'.

Boodle leads the group to his house, where Zoro is now resting. Boodle explains, 'He's resting. My house is just over there. That boy's lost a lot of blood! I told 'im there's a doctor at the refugee shelter, but he said he just needs a little sleep!!' Inside, Zoro is fast asleep, snoring loudly. Outside, Nami asks, 'The dog's name is Chouchou?' Boodle confirms, 'That's right.' Nami asks, 'Why's he the only one left in town?' Boodle replies, 'He's guarding the shop! I just came to feed him.' Nami looks at the pet food store, murmuring, 'For a pet food store...
