Chapter 4: The Great Captain Morgan. This chapter has 19 searchable pages. Opening and key page summaries: The townspeople gasp in absolute shock and terror as Helmeppo lies on the ground, clutching his face. Bystanders whisper in panic, shouting, "He punched the Captain's son!" and warning that "Captain Morgan will be furious!" Helmeppo cries out in disbelief, "No one has ever hit me! Not even Daddy! Y-you hit me! You actually hit me!" Monkey D. Luffy stands over him calmly, adjusting his straw hat, and declares, "Scum is scum... no matter who its father is!" Coby panics completely, grabbing Luffy and screaming, "Luffy! Stop! Are you trying to pick a fight with the whole Navy!" Helmeppo throws a childish tantrum, screaming, "I'm telling Daddy on you! I'm Captain Morgan's beloved son!!!" Coby desperately tries to hold Luffy back, begging him to stop. Luffy taunts Helmeppo, shouting, "Don't run crying to Papa! Face me like a man!" Helmeppo runs away crying, hurling insults and threats: "You booger-face!! Father will kill you! You're a walking corpse! You'll die begging for mercy!" Luffy watches him go, casually remarking, "He's not worth hitting." Coby despairs, muttering, "Now you've done it..." Rika runs up to Luffy, happily telling him, "You were great, Big Brother! I feel a lot better now!" Luffy smiles and replies, "Then I wish I'd given him a few more whacks for you!" Suddenly, Rika's mother, Ririka, rushes out and pulls Rika away, yelling, "Rika!! Get over here!" She drags her daughter inside, warning her, "You shouldn't be talking to that person! If they think you're his friend, they'll kill you, too!!" Rika protests, "But, Mommy, he's a good man. And Zolo, he's a good--" but Ririka slams the door shut. Coby screams in terror, warning Luffy that Captain Morgan has the entire Navy behind him and won't let them get away with this. Luffy casually walks off, saying, "Yeah, whatever. I need to talk to Zolo." At the massive Marine Naval Fortress, Captain Morgan sits in his grand office, smoking a cigar. A Marine officer, Lieutenant Rokkaku, flatters him, saying, "You certainly are, sir! You're the great Captain Morgan, sir!" Morgan angrily questions why the tributes from the townsfolk are getting smaller. Rokkaku nervously explains, "Yessir, regarding your tributes... I believe the townspeople are now too poor to raise--" but Morgan cuts him off, declaring, "It's not a question of how much they can pay... It's a question of their respect for me!" Helmeppo bursts into his father's office crying, slamming the door and shouting, "Daddy!! I want you to kill someone for me!!" Morgan looks at his son in annoyance, asking, "What's wrong, Helmeppo? Why the commotion?" Meanwhile, back at the execution ground, Luffy approaches Roronoa Zoro again. Zoro is annoyed, saying, "You again... If this is about me joining your pirate crew, my answer is still no!" Luffy cheerfully replies, "Call me Luffy! I'll untie you if you'll join my pirate crew, okay!?" Zoro sighs, grumbling, "You don't listen, boy!" Zoro explains that he has his own mission and refuses to become a "stinking pirate." Luffy questions if he thinks he's too good to be a pirate, pointing out that everyone already thinks Zoro is a demon bounty hunter. Zoro firmly states, "I live by my own code... I've never done anything I regret, and I don't intend to in the future. I don't care what people think. Which is why I'll never be a pirate!!" Luffy mentions he heard Zoro can use a sword, and Zoro boasts, "Hmph! If I wasn't tied up, I'd show you..." Luffy stubbornly declares, "Sorry, but I've made up my mind! You're gonna join my crew!!" Zoro screams back, "I don't care what you've decided!!" Luffy asks Zoro where his swords are. Zoro explains that Captain Morgan's idiot son took them, noting, "Next to my life, those swords are my dearest treasures." Luffy gets an idea and offers to retrieve them from Helmeppo. However, he adds a condition: "Then, if you want your swords back... you'll have to join my crew!" Zoro angrily calls him a "little rat," but Luffy just laughs and runs off toward the Marine fortress, shouting, "See ya soon!" Zoro watches him go, muttering, "He's going into the fortress... That's one dumb pirate!" At the Marine base, soldiers are carefully raising a giant statue of Captain Morgan. Helmeppo complains loudly to his father, demanding to know why he isn't hunting down the "brigand" who hit him, boasting that even his father has never laid a hand on his face. Morgan asks if Helmeppo knows why he's never hit him. Before Helmeppo can finish saying "because I'm your beloved son," Morgan brutally punches him, declaring, "It's because you're an idiot son who's not even worth hitting!!" Later page summaries: Luffy's momentum pulls the giant statue forward, snapping the ropes. The massive stone statue crashes onto the roof, shattering into pieces. Luffy lands safely, looking back and casually saying "Wow..." at the destruction. Morgan, Helmeppo, and the Marines stare in absolute, sweat-inducing shock at the ruined monument. Luffy raises his hand and offers a casual "Um... Sorry." The remaining pieces of the statue crumble. Morgan explodes in a demonic rage, roaring for his men to seize Luffy and tear out his heart. Helmeppo points at Luffy, screaming to his father that this is the ruffian who hit him. Luffy grabs Helmeppo, saying he's been looking for him, and drags him inside the fortress while Helmeppo screams for his father's help. Morgan orders his men to kill all the rebels. Down in the parade ground, Coby runs up to Zoro to untie him. Zoro warns Coby that he's being reckless and will get killed, but Coby bravely declares that he can't stand to see the Navy act improperly and wants to become a proper Marine, just like Luffy is going to be the King of the Pirates. Zoro is stunned to hear that Luffy wants to be the King of the Pirates, asking if he even knows what that means. Coby smiles, saying he was shocked too, but knows Luffy will succeed or die trying. Suddenly, a loud explosion echoes from the fortress. Luffy is seen running through the halls, dragging Helmeppo behind him while demanding to know where Zoro's swords are. Marines chase after them.
