    Flashback to three years ago. Kuro tells Jango he wants to leave the ship and offers him the captaincy, expressing his exhaustion with the chaotic pirate lifestyle. A crewman reports a Marine ship nearby.

    Kuro explains that his notorious name is what draws the Marines. Despite Jango's warnings that he will be hunted forever, Kuro orders a small boat to head to the Marine ship alone.

    Kuro rows toward the Marine ship under the moonlight. The Black Cat Pirates watch in confusion, wondering if he is turning himself in, before preparing for battle as the firing stops.

    The Black Cat Pirates board the Marine ship only to find all the Marines slaughtered. Kuro stands calmly among the bodies and tells Jango, "Let's start the plan...

    Kuro confronts a surviving Marine officer with a broken jaw. Impressed by his defiance, Kuro decides to use him, promising to reward him with the head of "Captain Kuro.
