One Piece Chapter 1.1, page 44-46: Romance Dawn (Version 1)

Luffy brings his giant, stretched leg crashing down onto the center of the pirate ship with immense force. The ship is split completely in half down the middle with a massive explosion of wood and water. The text reads: "...TO PIECES!!!".

Gyari is sent flying into the air by the explosion, screaming in rage, "DAMN IT!!! SOME DAY I'LL SET OUT TO FIND YOU, AND I'LL DEFINITELY KILL YOU!!! DON'T YOU FORGET THIS!!! STRAW HAT!!! LUFFY!!! REMEMBER THIS!!!". Luffy, landing back on his small boat, watches him fly away and mutters, "WHY DO I HAVE TO REMEMBER YOU. FROM THE START TO THE END, YOU'RE THE ONE WHO CAME AND STARTED A FIGHT.". Gyari splashes face-first into the water with a loud "GEFUU!!!". Luffy sighs, "IT'S A PAIN."

Luffy stands on his small boat, the Meruhen Gou, watching Gyari's ship sink. He says, "OH, IT'S SINKING, IT'S SINKING. IT'S A GOOD THING MERUHEN GOU WAS ON THAT SHIP. WE ALMOST SUNK TOGETHER. Back in the village, the residents gather around the returned treasure chests. One villager remarks, "OI, THIS IS MORE THAN WHAT WAS TAKEN FROM OUR TOWN.". Another replies, "YEAH... THAT KID SAID IT WOULDN'T FIT ON THE MERUHEN SOMETHING...". The village headman scratches his head in confusion, wondering, "NUU? THEN!! JUST WHO WAS HE, THAT GUY... EVEN THOUGH HE CAME IN ON A PIRATE SHIP, HE FOUGHT WITH THE PIRATES AND GAVE US TREASURE...". A villager smiles and says, "WELL, IT'S ALL GOOD IN THE END, HEADMAN.". The headman agrees, "IN ANY CASE WE OWE HIM OUR THANKS."
