TO EACH HIS OWN WAY. This chapter has 19 searchable pages. Opening and key page summaries: The title page of Chapter 50, "TO EACH HIS OWN WAY," features the cover story "ADVENTURES OF THE BUGGY CREW VOL. 11 'ATTACKED BY A CRAB'". Buggy the Clown is shown screaming in terror as a giant crab pinches his wooden raft and threatens him with its massive claws. A massive explosion and tearing sound effect ("ゴオオオオ") echo as Don Krieg's giant galleon is split completely in half. On the deck of the Baratie, people panic. One chef yells, "W-WHAT'S GOING ON!?" while another responds, "I DON'T KNOW BUT... MAYBE THEIR MUNITIONS SUPPLIES EXPLODED!?" Meanwhile, Johnny and Yosaku are seen crying and screaming, "WE'RE SORRY, BRO!" as they cling to the railing. The Going Merry is docked alongside the Baratie. Nami is sitting on the deck, staring intently at a stack of wanted posters. Johnny asks her, "WHAT IS IT, SIS? YOU'VE BEEN DOING NOTHING BUT STARE AT THOSE WANTED POSTERS." Nami quickly hides her concern, smiling as she replies, "OH, UMM, NO, IT'S NOTHING." Johnny and Yosaku warn her, "OH? EYEING THE HIGH-BOUNTY OUTLAWS, EH? BUT IT'S BEST NOT TO GO FOR THAT GUY. FOR A WHILE, HE'S BEEN KEEPING PRETTY QUIET, BUT I HEARD HE'S RECENTLY STARTED RAMPAGING AGAIN." Johnny and Yosaku continue talking about the bounty, saying, "YEAH... BUT THAT 20 MILLION BELI BOUNTY SURE IS HARD TO PASS UP!" and "BUT CONSIDERING HIS STRENGTH, THERE'S A SLIM CHANCE THAT EVEN WE WOULD BE KILLED BY A SLIM MARGIN." Nami smiles and says, "OK THEN." She then points out that she brought the treasure from their ship onboard. Johnny and Yosaku are confused: "UMM... SIS? ISN'T THAT THE TREASURE ON OUR SHIP...?" Nami explains, "YUP, I BROUGHT IT ONBOARD JUST NOW! YOU KNOW, WE AREN'T PLANNING ON STAYING WITH YOU GUYS ON THIS SHIP FOREVER..." She then asks them, "WOULD YOU TWO MIND TURNING AROUND FOR A SEC? I WANT TO CHANGE MY CLOTHES! IT'S A LITTLE EMBARRASSING SO IF YOU MEN COULD JUST LOOK THAT WAY FOR A MOMENT..." Johnny and Yosaku blush furiously and quickly agree, stammering, "C-CHANGE CLOTHES? N-N-NOW...? S... SURE, WHY NOT!? WE'LL LOOK THE OTHER WAY." Johnny and Yosaku stand with their backs turned, blushing and whispering to each other. Yosaku says, "S-SISTER NAMI SURE IS BOLD AS SHE LOOKS." Johnny whispers back, "YOU UH... YOU DON'T THINK WE'D GET IN TOO MUCH TROUBLE TO PEEK JUST A LITTLE, DO YA?" Yosaku replies, "HEH, OF COURSE NOT. JUST A LITTLE." Johnny adds, "RIGHT, LIKE 2 SECONDS." Suddenly, they are kicked off the ship with a loud "WHA!?" and plunge into the sea with a massive splash ("ザブーーーッ"). They surface, coughing and screaming, "WHA...! WHAT'S GOING ON, SIS!?" Nami leans over the railing of the Going Merry, smiling down at Johnny and Yosaku as the ship sails away. She calls out, "WHAT DO YOU MEAN WHAT? IT'S JUST BUSINESS! AFTER ALL, I AM A THIEF SPECIALIZING IN STEALING FROM PIRATES! THIS SHIP IS NO EXCEPTION. I NEVER RECALL AGREEING TO BE ONE OF YOUR SHIPMATES, I ONLY SAID WE WERE JOINING HANDS!" Johnny and Yosaku scream in shock, "OH, BUT YOUR TREASURES ARE AN EXCEPTION!" Nami looks slightly nostalgic as she adds, "BUT IT WAS A LOT OF FUN...! IT WAS A SHORT WHILE BEING WITH LUFFY AND THE OTHERS, WELL, SEE YA THEN! TELL THE OTHERS THAT IF WE'RE TRULY LINKED BY FATE, WE'LL MEET AGAIN!" Johnny and Yosaku scream from the water, "W-WAIT A MINUTE, SIS! WE WERE ASKED TO KEEP A WATCH ON THAT SHIP! YOU'RE PUTTING US IN A LOT OF TROUBLE HERE! AND GIVE BACK OUR TREASURE!" Suddenly, a massive crashing sound ("ドゴォン!!") shakes the area. Luffy, Zoro, and Usopp are on the deck of the Baratie. Johnny and Yosaku explain what happened: "AFTER SAYING THAT, SHE RAN AWAY!" Usopp is furious, yelling, "DAMN THAT WOMAN! JUST BECAUSE SHE WAS ACTING ALL NICE RECENTLY, I LET MY GUARD DOWN FOR ONE MOMENT AND THEN THIS HAPPENS! HOW DARE SHE PULL A FAST ONE OVER US, ESPECIALLY DURING THIS CRISIS!" Luffy looks out across the water, holding his straw hat. "WAIT! I CAN STILL SEE OUR SHIP!" he shouts. Usopp and Zoro look in shock as Luffy points: "IT'S THE GOING MERRY!" Luffy turns to Johnny and Yosaku: "YOSAKU! JOHNNY! WHERE'S YOUR SHIP!?" They reply, "WELL, WE STILL HAVE OURS." Zoro tells Luffy, "ZORO! USOPP! JUST LET HER GO. NO GOOD WILL COME OF CHASING AFTER THAT THIEF." Usopp protests, "B-BUT SHE TOOK OUR SHIP! THAT SHIP'S IMPORTANT!" Luffy looks incredibly determined and declares, "I WANT HER TO BE OUR NAVIGATOR, NO MATTER WHAT!" Later page summaries: Zoro steps forward and asks Mihawk, "DID YOU CUT THIS SHIP AS WELL WITH THAT SWORD?" Mihawk replies, "YES, INDEED." Zoro smiles confidently, "NO WONDER... YOU REALLY ARE THE STRONGEST." Mihawk asks him, "...WHAT DO YOU AIM FOR?" Zoro declares, "I SET SAIL TO MEET YOU!" Johnny and Yosaku gasp in shock as they notice Zoro's stance: "T-THREE SWORDS...!? HEY... COULD THIS GUY BE...!?" Zoro looks at Mihawk with a fierce grin and says, "TO BE THE STRONGEST. YOU SAID YOU'RE FREE, RIGHT? SO LET'S HAVE A DUEL." The onlookers are stunned. The Krieg Pirates and chefs shout, "WHAT!? IT'S HIM! ZORO! RORONOA ZORO OF THE THREE SWORD STYLE...! THE PIRATE HUNTER...? HIM...!?" Sanji watches silently with a cigarette in his mouth. Meanwhile, Usopp calls out to Zoro, "HEY! WE'RE GONNA LOSE SIGHT OF THE SHIP!" Johnny and Yosaku mutter, "BRO..." Mihawk looks down at Zoro coldly, saying, "PITIFUL, WEAKLING."

  • Mihawk addresses Zoro

IF YOU'RE A COMPETENT SWORDSMAN BY ANY MEANS, THEN I CAN DEMONSTRATE THE CLEAR DIFFERENCE IN STRENGTH BETWEEN YOU AND I, WITHOUT NEEDING TO CROSS BLADES AT ALL. BUT STILL, YOU DARE TO CHALLENGE ME. DOES YOUR BRAVERY COME FROM YOUR CONVICTION...? OR FROM IGNORANCE...?" Zoro ties his dark green bandana around his head and draws his swords, placing one in his mouth. He replies, "IT COMES FROM MY AMBITION, AND A PROMISE TO A FRIEND." Luffy, Johnny, and Yosaku watch in tense silence, gulping ("ゴク...!!") in anticipation. The scene cuts to the Going Merry sailing away on the open sea. Nami stands at the railing, tears streaming down her face as she cries silently. She thinks to herself, "THEY WERE GOOD PEOPLE... I WONDER IF THEY'LL COUNT ME AS THEIR FRIEND, THE NEXT TIME WE MEET... I WONDER IF WE CAN EVEN MEET AGAIN...?" She grips her face in anguish, crying out, "BELLEMERE...!...I WANT TO HURRY UP AND BECOME FREE,"
