THE PIRATE KING AND THE GREAT SWORDSMAN". Luffy sits at a beachside table sharing a drink with a friendly dolphin under an orange and yellow umbrella. In the background, Zoro stands looking out at the sea while taking a drink. Luffy drags Helmeppo down a corridor, demanding to know where Zoro's swords are kept. Helmeppo cries out in pain, "I'LL...I'LL TELL YOU...!! JUST STOP DRAGGING ME!!" and reveals they are inside his room, which they already passed. Luffy punches him for not speaking up sooner. Suddenly, armed Marines corner them, shouting, "DON'T MOVE!! RAISE YOUR HANDS ABOVE YOUR HEAD!" Luffy uses Helmeppo as a human shield, daring the Marines to shoot. The Marines are shocked that Luffy is using Helmeppo-sama as a shield. Meanwhile, in the execution courtyard, Coby lies bleeding on the ground, crying out in panic that he has been shot. Coby weeps on the ground, fearing he will die. Zoro, still tied to the post, tells Coby to run for his life. Zoro insists he only needs to survive for a month to be freed, but Coby reveals the truth: Helmeppo never intended to keep his promise and plans to execute Zoro in three days. Coby explains that Luffy punched Helmeppo on Zoro's behalf because Helmeppo was toying with him. Zoro is stunned by the revelation. Coby begs Zoro to help rescue Luffy once freed, promising they can escape the town together if they join forces. Marines surround Zoro and Coby, aiming their rifles to execute them for betraying Captain Morgan. Meanwhile, Luffy bursts into Helmeppo's room and successfully locates Zoro's katanas. Luffy finds three katanas and wonders which one belongs to Zoro. Looking out the window, he notices the commotion at the execution grounds. Outside, Captain Morgan orders his men to surround the base and prevent Luffy's escape. Captain Morgan stands before Zoro, boasting of his great strength and calling Zoro garbage. The firing squad prepares to shoot. Facing death, Zoro remembers his past and resolves that he cannot die yet. Later page summaries: Back in the present, Zoro remembers his promise as the Marines prepare to fire. Suddenly, Luffy launches himself from the Marine tower using "GOMU-GOMU... ROCKET!!" just as Morgan orders his men to fire. Luffy lands directly in front of Zoro and Coby, taking the full force of the firing squad's bullets. To everyone's utter shock, the bullets stretch his rubber body instead of piercing him. Luffy laughs as his rubber body snaps back, bouncing the bullets directly back at the terrified Marines and scattering them. Luffy proudly declares his dream to become the Pirate King. He presents Zoro with all three of his katanas, offering them back if Zoro joins his crew. Facing execution otherwise, Zoro smiles and agrees to become a pirate.
