One Piece Chapter 31, page 8-9: THE TRUTH

Merry explains the gravity of the situation: "JUST NOW, I SAW CLAHADOR WALK OUT THE DOOR... IF... WHAT USOPP SAID WAS TRUE... THEN, HE MUST HAVE GONE TO THE SHORE TO JOIN HIS COMRADES. NOT ONLY OUR LIVES, BUT THE LIVES OF THE VILLAGERS ARE ALSO IN DANGER." He suggests a desperate plan: "CLAHADOR'S PLAN IS TO OBTAIN THIS HOUSE AND THE WEALTH, SO WE SHOULD JUST GIVE IT ALL TO HIM! THAT WAY WE'LL GET TO KEEP OUR LIVES!" Kaya agrees, but Merry looks at her solemnly and adds, "UNFORTUNATELY... THE ONLY ONE THAT CAN STOP CLAHADOR NOW......IS YOU!

Kaya resolves to face the danger, telling Merry, "I UNDERSTAND. I WONT RUN AWAY! I'M GOING TO GO TALK TO CLAHADOR RIGHT NOW!" Merry asks with concern, "CAN YOU DO IT? EVEN THOUGH YOU DON'T REALLY HAVE TO..." to which she replies, "I KNOW! Meanwhile, in the village, Ninjin and his two friends (one wearing a black skull cap and glasses, the other with a bowl-cut hat and a skull t-shirt) are talking. One of them wakes Ninjin up, saying, "HEY NINJIN! WAKE UP!" Ninjin groans, "BUT NORMALLY I'M SLEEPING THIS TIME OF DAY..." The other warns, "NOW ISN'T THE TIME TO SLEEP. SOMETHING AWFUL MIGHT BE ABOUT TO HAPPEN. EH? THAT BUTLER WENT TO THE SHORE?"
