One Piece Chapter 1.1, page 27-28: Romance Dawn (Version 1)

Luffy catches his straw hat as it falls back onto his head, saying, "AHHH THAT SURPRISED ME. PISTOLS DON'T WORK EITHER...!!!". Shiruku stares at him in utter shock, unable to speak: "...!!?". Gyari and his crew are terrified, screaming in panic, "AAA AAA AAA AAH!!!" and "WE'LL REMEMBER THIS, DAMNIT!!!" as they turn and run away as fast as they can. Luffy grins and stretches his face sideways with his hands, demonstrating his power: "LIKE I WAS SAYING, MY WHOLE BODY IS RUBBER. IT'S THE TRADE OFF FOR NEVER BEING ABLE TO SWIM. COOL, RIGHT?".

Luffy prepares to chase after the fleeing pirates, saying, "ANYWAY, I BETTER CATCH THOSE GUYS. IF THEY START DESTROYING THIS TOWN I'LL FEEL BAD AFTERWARDS.". Shiruku watches him walk away, whispering, "A RUBBER MAN... HARD TO BELIEVE...". Gyari and his men run through the streets, sweating and panting: "GEH!! HE'S COMING AFTER US...!!" and "DAMN MONSTER!!". Suddenly, a crowd of villagers rushes out and throws a net and ropes over Luffy, tying him up tightly. Luffy is caught completely off guard, blinking in confusion: "WHAT". The village headman cheers happily, "WE CAUGHT HIM! CRESCENT MOON GYARI!!! WE DID IT!!!". Luffy looks at the headman and says, "WAH, WHAT ARE YOU DOING!".
