One Piece Chapter 23, page 12-13: Captain Usopp Enters

Hiding in the bushes overlooking the shore, Usopp and his young crew spy on the newcomers. Usopp whispers, "HEY! TAMANEGI, ARE THOSE THE PIRATES THAT YOU WERE TALKING ABOUT?" Tamanegi points and says, "THAT'S RIGHT! LOOK, THERE'S A PIRATE SYMBOL!" Piiman notes, "THEY DON'T LOOK SCARY!" and Ninjin agrees, "YEAH!" Down on the beach, Luffy stretches his arms, saying, "BEEN A LONG TIME SINCE I LAST STOOD ON FIRM GROUND..." Nami retorts, "THAT'S BECAUSE YOU WERE SLEEPING ALL THE TIME!" Suddenly, Zoro looks up toward the bushes and says, "BY THE WAY, I JUST NOTICED A MOMENT AGO... WHAT ARE THOSE GUYS DOING THERE?" Realizing they've been spotted, Usopp and the kids gasp in shock ("SFX: SHOCKED! / GIKU...!").

Panicking, the three kids flee into the woods, screaming, "WAAAA..! WE'VE BEEN FOUND!!" Usopp tries to stop them, yelling, "HEY! YOU... DON'T RUN AWAY!!" but they leave him behind. Luffy, Zoro, and Nami watch blankly as the kids run off. Left alone, Usopp decides to put on a brave face. He stands tall on the cliff, crossing his arms proudly, and bellows, "I AM THE GREAT PIRATE FLEET LEADER, USOPP, WHO IS IN CHARGE OF THE SECURITY OF THIS VILLAGE! I'M ALSO KNOWN AS 'CAPTAIN', 'CAPTAIN USOPP'!
