The title page of Chapter 8, titled "NAMI," features Monkey D. Luffy and Roronoa Zoro on their small boat. Luffy sits on the edge of the boat, smiling and saluting with one hand while resting his other arm on a row of fat, round birds perched along the railing. Zoro stands behind him, holding his sword over his shoulder, with one of the birds perched on the hilt of his sword. The page number "189" is printed at the bottom left.

Out on the open sea, Luffy and Zoro are drifting aimlessly in their small boat. Luffy complains loudly, "I'M STARVING!" Zoro, looking annoyed, asks him, "DON'T YOU THINK IT'S STRANGE THAT YOU CAN'T NAVIGATE?" Luffy casually replies, "NO, DRIFTING HAS WORKED PRETTY WELL FOR ME." Zoro points out, "WHAT ABOUT YOU? YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO BE THE HOLY TERROR OF THE SEAS!" Zoro explains his past, saying, "I DON'T RECALL EVER CALLING MYSELF THAT. I FOLLOWED A PIRATE I WAS AFTER OUT TO SEA. BUT I COULDN'T FIND MY WAY BACK TO MY VILLAGE.
