One Piece Chapter 21, page 8-9: VILLAGE

Luffy explains his reasoning to Nami: "FOR THEIR CHIEF, FOR JUST ONE PERSON... THEY'RE ALL GETTING THAT MAD!" Nami realizes what he means, but notes, "NO MATTER WHAT EXCUSE WE GIVE, THEY'LL STILL BE MAD AT US!!" The villagers continue their pursuit, shouting, "THEY'RE RUNNING AWAY THROUGH AN ALLEY!" Suddenly, Chouchou the dog stands firmly in the middle of the alleyway, blocking the path of the angry villagers and barking loudly, "WOOF!!!

The villagers stop in front of Chouchou, surprised. "AAH, THAT DOG! SHUSHU!" they cry out. They try to get past him, pleading, "HEY, SHUSHU! MOVE OUT OF THE WAY, QUICKLY!! THOSE GUYS ARE BAD PIRATES!!" Chouchou growls fiercely, "GRRRRR..!" and barks, "WOOF WOOF!!" refusing to budge. The villagers are confused, asking, "WHY ARE YOU STOPPING US? SHUSHU!!" Luffy looks back and smiles as they make their escape. The villagers shout in frustration, "SHUSHU!! MOVE OF THE WAY NOW!!" while Chouchou continues to bark, "WOOF WOOF!!!
