One Piece Chapter 1.1, page 20-21: Romance Dawn (Version 1)

Inside the restaurant, Shiruku continues her story: "IN THE PAST, SOME PIRATES RAIDED THIS VILLAGE AND LEFT ME BEHIND AS A BABY. I'M THE CHILD OF THE PIRATES THAT RAVAGED THIS VILLAGE. AND THEY RAISED ME HERE. THE PEOPLE OF THIS VILLAGE HELD NO SUCH FEELINGS. YOU'D THINK THEY WOULDN'T FEEL ANY NEED TO PITY SUCH A CHILD BUT... THEY MAY HAVE HELD A GRUDGE...". Luffy drinks from a cup, listening quietly: "HOH." Shiruku slams her hand on the table, her eyes filled with determination: "BECAUSE THEY ARE TREASURED PEOPLE TO ME, EVEN IF I'M ALONE, I'LL FIGHT!! THERE WERE PIRATES ON THAT SHIP, RIGHT!? UNDERSTAND?!". Luffy looks at her and says, "HMMM!! I DON'T WANT TO SEE THE PEOPLE OF THIS TOWN WITH SAD FACES!!"

Luffy finishes his meal, standing up and saying, "AH, THANKS FOR THE FOOD. IT WAS GOOD.". Shiruku yells in frustration, "LISTEN TO ME!!". Luffy walks out of the restaurant, muttering, "GYARI?". Shiruku follows him, asking, "WHO'S THAT? WHAT A WEIRD NAME. WAS HE REALLY NOT THERE? ISN'T HE THE CAPTAIN OF THAT SHIP YOU CAME IN ON!". Suddenly, Gyari and his crew appear at the end of the street. Gyari strikes a dramatic pose, shouting, "THE MAN WHO CAN MAKE EVEN A CRYING CHILD SHUT UP, GYARI, IS ME!!! I WON'T FORGIVE YOU, YOU INSECT GATHERING BASTARD!!!". Luffy blinks, completely calm: "EH... GYARI!? AH. HE DID SAY HIS NAME, DIDN'T HE?". Gyari veins pop in anger: "YOU PISS ME OFF."
