Mihawk stares at Zoro, saying, "Yes, such is defeat." Zoro smiles weakly, replying, "Haha... then that's why I can't step back." Mihawk asks, "Even if it means your death...?" Zoro answers resolutely, "I'd much rather die." Mihawk is deeply moved by Zoro's incredible resolve, thinking, "What conviction he possesses! To rather choose death than defeat..." Mihawk pulls his dagger out of Zoro's chest with a wet sound and says, "Kid... tell me your name."
