One Piece Chapter 22, page 9-11: YOU ARE A RARE AND PRECIOUS ANIMAL TOO

Nami spots a pistol lying on the ground and points out where the shot came from. Nearby sits a strange object that looks like a treasure chest with a massive, bushy afro growing out of it. As they watch, the chest suddenly sprouts human feet and begins running away, only to trip over a root and crash face-first. Luffy and Nami walk over to find a furious man stuck inside the chest, who demands they lift him up. Luffy laughs and calls him a "cauliflower man," while Nami points out that he tripped over his own feet.

Luffy and Nami sit on the beach with the chest-man, who introduces himself as Gaimon. Gaimon is surprised to meet someone who has eaten a Devil Fruit, while Luffy notes it is his first time meeting someone stuck in a treasure chest. Gaimon explains that he got stuck inside the chest and has been living alone on the island for twenty years, shocking Nami.

Luffy bluntly calls Gaimon's situation stupid, infuriating the chest-man. Gaimon laments that his hair, mustache, and eyebrows have grown wild over the last twenty years. Luffy tries to pull Gaimon out of the chest by his head, but Gaimon screams in pain, warning that his body and the chest have fused together over the years and pulling him out will kill him. Nami asks how he ended up on the island in the first place.
