One Piece Chapter 1.1, page 31: Romance Dawn (Version 1)

The village headman weeps, saying, "WE CAN'T... SACRIFICE OUR LIVES.... THESE AREN'T OPPONENTS WE CAN MATCH.". Shiruku closes her eyes in bitter defeat. Luffy, still tied up, looks at Gyari and remarks, "NO MATTER HOW YOU LOOK AT IT, THAT'S A WEIRD BEARD.". Gyari is enraged, screaming, "DID YOU SAY SOMETHING!?". Shiruku and the headman gasp, "WHAT!?" and "EH". Gyari kicks Luffy hard, sending him sliding across the ground with a loud "UGAAH!!". Luffy sits up, completely unharmed, and says, "AHHH, THAT SURPRISED ME. Though it didn't hurt. Since I'm rubber.". Gyari veins pop in anger: "DAMN RUBBER BASTARD!!!"
