One Piece Chapter 37, page 5-10: Kuro, the Pirate with 100 Plans

Standing casually on Luffy's stretched arm, Kuro taunts him, saying, "This is so boring, I'm beginning to feel sleepy..." before preparing a close-range strike, calling Luffy a "bastard.

Kuro kicks Luffy hard, sending him flying backward. Luffy crashes to the ground, losing his straw hat in the process.

Luffy gets up from the rubble, spitting blood and muttering, "You made me bleed..." The Black Cat Pirates cheer for Kuro, shouting "Go Captain Kuro!!" and "Kill him!!

Kuro furiously snaps at his crew, yelling, "Don't call me using that name!!!" He explains to a confused Luffy that the real purpose of his plan is to eliminate the name "Captain Kuro" forever.

Kuro explains his past, stating he grew tired of planning for "reckless morons" and being hunted by Marines and bounty hunters. He decided to fake his death three years ago.

Flashback to three years ago. Kuro tells Jango he wants to leave the ship and offers him the captaincy, expressing his exhaustion with the chaotic pirate lifestyle. A crewman reports a Marine ship nearby.
