One Piece Chapter 19, page 14-15: Devil's Fruit

Buggy stands before the gathered crew, holding up the Devil's Fruit. A crew member announces, "PIRATE TRAINEE BUGGY...! HE WILL EAT THE DEVIL'S FRUIT!!!" Buggy shoves the fruit into his mouth and swallows it with a loud "GULP!!" as the crew watches in awe, shouting, "OOHT... HE ATE IT...!!! The crew cheers, "HAHAHAH... BEING YOUNG IS A WONDERFUL THING, SINCE YOU CAN BE SO CAREFREE. GOOD GOING BUGGY. I HAVE MORE RESPECT FOR YOU NOW!!" Rayleigh asks, "SO HOW IS IT BUGGY? FEEL ANY DIFFERENCE IN YOUR BODY?" Buggy sweats and replies, "NO... NOT REALLY..." Rayleigh wonders, "WHAT?! WAS IT A FAKE?" and another crew member notes, "WELL THE STORY OF THE DEVIL'S FRUIT WAS A RUMORED STORY FROM THE START." In his mind, Buggy cackles, "KEKEKEKEKE!! YOU'VE GOT IT EXACTLY RIGHT!! WHAT I JUST ATE WAS A FAKE FRUIT I SPENT ALL NIGHT WORKING ON AND SWITCHING."

Buggy laughs hysterically in private, holding the real Devil's Fruit in one hand and his treasure map in the other. He gloats, "EVERYTHING TURNED OUT AS PLANNED!! WITH THE MONEY FROM SELLING THE FRUIT AND THE TREASURE FROM THE MAP, I COULD FORM THE BEST PIRATE CREW IN THE WORLD AND STEAL THE MOST VALU- I DON'T NEED TO BE A PIRATE TRAINEE ANYMORE. I BETTER GET OFF THIS SHIP BEFORE ANYONE FINDS OUT. Suddenly, Shanks appears behind him, calling out, "YO BUGGY, WHATCHA DOING HERE?" Startled, Buggy quickly shoves the Devil's Fruit into his mouth and hides the map behind his back. Shanks looks at him curiously, saying, "YOUR FACE SURE IS A SIGHT." Buggy thinks, "W..WHAT THE, SO IT WAS THIS IDIOT. SCARED ME HALF TO DEATH." Shanks starts to walk away, warning, "DON'T STEAL TOO MUCH FOOD. THE COOK WILL GET MAD!" Buggy sighs in relief, "PHEW... THE DANGER HAS PASSED..." But Shanks suddenly turns back, saying, "OH YEAH! IF I THINK ABOUT IT THE CAPTAIN JUST..." Buggy is so shocked that he accidentally swallows the entire Devil's Fruit whole with a massive "GULP!!"
