One Piece Chapter 31, page 15: THE TRUTH

Nami and Usopp are thoroughly confused by the pirates' behavior: "WHAT'S GOING ON? AREN'T THEY GOOD? I DON'T KNOW... THEY BOTH SEEM SCARED....". Buchi and Sham continue to plead with their captain: "WE'RE JUST... THE SHIP'S WATCHMEN! YEA! WE DONT WANT TO PARTICIPATE IN THESE KIND OF BATTLES!". Annoyed, the captain commands, "SHAM! GO NOW!" Sham panics, "EH!? WHY MEEE!?", but under the captain's intense glare, he reluctantly steps forward, crying, "OKAY! I'M GOING! GO!". Nami watches in disbelief, wondering, "WHAT'S GOING ON? AREN'T THEY SUPPOSED TO BE STRONG? WHY ARE THEY MAKING THOSE COWARDS FIGHT?"
