One Piece Chapter 48, page 13-14: GIVE UP ON THAT SEA

The Baratie cooks are furious. Patty demands, "SIR! HOW COULD YOU OF ALL PEOPLE SIDE WITH SANJI ON THIS!?" Carne yells, "JUST WHAT'S THE MEANING OF THIS!?" Others join in, blaming Sanji for putting the restaurant in danger. Zeff silences them, shouting, "SILENCE, YOU NUMBSKULLS!" He turns to Sanji and asks, "SANJI! WERE YOU PLANNING ON USING THIS MESS WE'RE IN TO BECOME THE NEXT HEAD CHEF!? OR HAVE YOU JUST COMPLETELY LOST IT!? WHICH IS IT!?" Zeff then asks the cooks, "DO ANY OF YOU KNOW JUST HOW TERRIFYING AND PAINFUL IT IS, TO BE STUCK IN THIS OCEAN, DEPRIVED OF FOOD AND WATER!? HAVE ANY ONE OF YOU EVER BEEN HUNGRY ENOUGH TO DIE...?" Sanji remains silent, lighting a cigarette.

Patty is confused by Zeff's words, "WHA.. WHAT DO YOU MEAN, SIR!?" Zeff tells them, "IF YOU'VE GOT TIME TO BE CRYING OVER SPILT MILK, THEN JUST LEAVE THIS PLACE USING THE BACK DOOR!" Patty refuses to run, grabbing a giant cooking spatula as a weapon: "I'M... I'M GONNA STAY HERE. I WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO LIVE WITH MYSELF IF I JUST LEFT WITHOUT A FIGHT." Carne and the other cooks join him, picking up their own kitchen weapons. Patty notices Gin sitting nearby and asks, "W-WHAT'RE YOU ALL DOING!? HAVEN'T YOU REALIZED HOW POWERFUL THE DON IS BY NOW!? YOU NEED TO RUN AWAY! HEY, GIN..." Sanji speaks up, "LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING. IT'S MY DUTY AS A COOK TO FEED ANYONE WHO'S STARVING.
