I Am Oden, and I Was Born to Boil

In the Flower Capital, townspeople argue heatedly. "EVEN IF THAT'S TRUE.. IT'S HARD TO SUDDENLY CHANGE YOUR MIND!!" one man shouts. A long-haired woman replies, "YOU SAID THAT WE WERE PROTECTED BY ODEN." The chapter title "CHAPTER 972: 'I AM ODEN! I WAS BORN TO BOIL!'" appears. Below, Shinobu glares while grabbing Fukujuro. "THIS IS WHAT EVERYONE UNDERSTOOD, AND THIS IS HOW THE SENTENCE WILL BE EXECUTED," she states. Fukujuro retorts, "THE 'TRUTH' ONLY BRINGS CONFUSION, SHINOBU. THE LORD IDIOT WHO REBELLED AGAINST THE SHOGUN WILL DIE." In the lower scene Shinobu declares, "I DONT OBEY YOU ANYMORE!! I AM A VASSAL OF ODEN-SAMA AND I WILL LIVE OR DIE LIKE HIM!!" A bald man answers, "YOU TOOK THE FLOOR AND WAS READY TO FACE THE CONSEQUENCES, RIGHTI YOU TOO.." She continues, "IF THIS IS THE CASE THEN... I'M READY TO DIE WITH THE KOZUKI!!!"

A bald man with sunglasses smirks, "YOU'RE DREAMING." Shinobu glares back, sweat flying, as she growls, "AND WE WILL EXTERMINATE YOU NEXT TIME!! WE WILL ALL SURVIVE... OR RATHER.." Townspeople panic and beg, "PLEASE!! PLEASE!! YOU ARE WELCOME!! SH...SHOGUN OROCHI, PLEASE END THIS PUNISHMENT!!" An arrow strikes a man who cries "HE WAS SHOT BY AN ARROW!! AAAH!! UAAHH!!" Orochi appears with a sinister grin, "HEHE..." Someone yells "ORCHI...!! LOOK OUT!!" Shinobu watches in shock as chaos erupts around the execution platform.

Oden thrashes in boiling oil while the crowd screams "ODEN-SAMA!! ODEN-SAMA!!" A massive impact "ベンッ!!" shakes the area. Narration continues: "SURROUNDED THEM, WEAPONS IN HAND. THE PEOPLE REALIZED THIS WHILE THE SUBORDINATES OF KAIDO AND OROCHI... PEOPLE CROWDED IN A HURRY.. SO HE WAS THE ONE WHO SAVED US THAT DAYI WAS QUICKLY COMMUNICATED TO ALL THE PEOPLE OF WANO. THE REASON FOR ODEN'S STRANGE ACTIONS THESE LAST 5 YEARS..." A man shouts "DAMMIT, WE'RE PATHETIC."

Another panel explains, "WHEN WE NEED TO WARN THE LEADERS OF THE PROVINCES OF WANO OF SOMETHING IMPORTANT WE USE ARROWS ON WHICH WE HANG A MESSAGE." Below, Kozuki Oden clings to a wooden beam above a massive boiling pot. Retainers and citizens cry out desperately: "ODEN-SAMA!!", "ODEN-SAMA STAY ALIVE!!", and "ODEN-SAMA!!!" The narration states, "THE OIL IN THE POT WAS HEATED TO OVER 700 DEGREES, AND IT KEPT INCREASING." Oden's retainers shout, "WE KNEW NOTHING, SORRY FOR INSULTING YOU!!" while impact effects and steam erupt around the pot. In lower panels, a scarred man growls, "WHAT NAIVE!!" as another replies, "YOU'RE WELCOME, I'M DOING MY BEST!!" Voices call, "DEFECTORS!!", "IT'S A LITTLE LATE, BUNCH OF...", "THANK YOU FOR PROTECTING US!!", and "ODEN-SAMA!!" Oden himself mutters, "ODEN-SAMA, DON'T YOU..."

"HE DID IIIIT!!!" "THE MIRACLE HAS HAPPENED!!!" "HE HAS OVERCOME HIS EXECUTION!!" "THAT'S ODEN-SAMA!!!" Citizens and retainers cheer wildly across the devastated streets. Close-ups show tearful faces shouting "ODEN-SAMA WON!!!" "HE DID IT...!" "HE SURVIVED THE BOILING!!!" In the foreground, a grim-faced Kaido glares upward with narrowed eyes. "PREPARE YOURSELF, KAIDO!!" Oden's voice rings out. "AND ONCE AGAIN THE WHOLE COUNTRY IS MY ALLY!! THE ILLUSION HAS BEEN DISPERSED!!"

Oden's eyes blaze with fury. A retainer cries "AAAH!!" as chaos erupts. Oden growls, "YOU GUYS, I AM COUNTING ON YOU!!" Orochi taunts, "YOU'RE A KID WHO THINKS WITH HIS ASS!" Oden's massive voice echoes across the capital: "OPEN WANO!!!"

A fierce brawl erupts as young Oden charges forward with a furious punch, sweat flying. Bandit children scream in panic. "HANDS OFF, BRATS!!" one yells. "IT'S OURS, ODEN!!" another shouts while Oden grunts "GUH...!". In the next clash, terrified bandits flail and beg, "AHH!! I GIVE UP!! I GIVE UP!!" A wild-haired man roars at Oden, "YOU!!
