Kawamatsu the Kappa Appears

"WHAT SHOULD WE DO, CHOPPAEMONI" "YOU'RE TOUGH AS NAILS, STRAW HAT." Luffy's allies argue about retrieving him first.

The fight continues as a massive horned guard bellows "PRISONERS!" and "USE YOUR STRENGTH TO HOLD HIM DOWN!". Allies shout "YOUR FRIEND, LUFFYTARO, IS RUNNING AMOK!". Luffy yells "I'M ON YOUR SIDE, GUYS! DON'T YOU WANT TO GET OUT OF HEREI!" while being grabbed by multiple prisoners. One prisoner reacts "HUUUHI! WHY WOULD THE-". In the lower panels, a scarred man with a topknot says "BUT... WHERE ARE WE GOING TO RUN TOI KAIDO AND OROCHI CONTROL ALL OF WANO." Another replies "SEEIN' YOU FIGHT BACK LIKE THAT... IT BROUGHT A SMILE TO OUR FACES, NO DOUBT." Luffy responds "I MEAN... OF COURSE WE'VE GOT GRUDGES!" as the group is sent flying with impact effects and cries of "UWAGH! STOP THAT!" and "GERROFF ME!".

Prisoners recall their suffering: "WE LOST OUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY! WE WERE BRUISED, BEATEN AND BROKEN!" and "WE FOUGHT TO AVENGE THE DEATH OF LORD ODEN KOZUKI!" A cloaked figure charges through rubble shouting "PAOPAO PAPAPA!" as explosions erupt. They lament, "THERE'S NOT A SCRAP OF SOIL IN THIS COUNTRY ON WHICH WE'LL EVER BE FREE!" and "EVEN IF WE MAKE IT OUT OF HERE, WE HAVE NO HOMES TO RETURN TO. NO FOOD TO EAT." Luffy, battered and furious, roars back, "ALL YOU WANT! JUST KEEP US OUT OF IT! YOU'RE JUST SOME FOREIGN OUTSIDER! YOU CAN FIGHT AND RUN"

Prisoners panic as Luffy's body heats up: "HE'S BURNING UP!" "SO... HOT! MY BODY'S BURNING! SAVE ME!" and "WHAT IS HE DOINGI! LORD DAIFUGO HAS FIRED HIS GUNS!" Queen, the massive masked man, laughs while aiming a gun: "HAHAHHAHA! BE CAREFUL! THAT'S A HIGHLY CONTAGIOUS PLAGUE!" He threatens, "AND IF YOU TRY ANY FUNNY BUSINESS, I'LL SHOOT YOU TOO!" as plague bullets strike, sending prisoners fleeing with cries of "NO! AAAG GHH!" and "IT'S HIS PLAGUE BULLETS!"

Queen declares, "THAT'S IT! HOLD HIM DOWN, YOU FOOLS!" and boasts about Lord Queen's hobbies: "LORD QUEEN LOVES BUILDING THINGS! HIS HOBBIES INCLUDE BUILDING WEAPONS AND VIRUSES!" He warns, "I ONLY HAVE TO HIT ONE OF YOU. IT'LL SPREAD TO THE REST!" Luffy glares fiercely amid the chaos. Prisoners shout, "THAT THEY STILL HAVE HOPE! THAT THEY HAVE ONE MORE CHANCE!" and "OI! TELL THEM, YOUNG STRAW HAT!" as distant explosions and cries of "KAAAAA AAAPPA! PAPPAPPA PPAPPA!" echo across the ruined battlefield.

A voice booms from a sealed cell: "HEAD JAILER! A VOICE... FROM INSIDE THE SEALED CELLI!" Prisoners react with shock: "THAT LAUGH!" "DON'T TELL ME-" and "HUHI KAPPAI" The narration reveals, "THAT WAS KAIDO'S PLAN, TO EXECUTE HIM. THIRTEEN YEARS AGO!" and "WE WERE TOLD TO GIVE HIM FISH THAT HAD DRANK THE RUNOFF FROM THE FACTORY." The massive figure smashes free, declaring, "KAPPA- PPAPPA! RELEASE ME FROM THESE CUFFS!" as onlookers cry, "IS ONE OF THE NINE RED SCABBARDS!" and "THE MAN INSIDE THERE"

Several prisoners charge forward with weapons raised, shouting over each other. One yells, "NAH, I'M TAKIN' THE GLORY FOR THIS ONE!" Another declares, "THIS IS MY CHANCE FOR A COME-UP!" A third snarls, "I'LL TAKE HIS HEAD!" while a fourth notes, "GOOD! HIS CUFFS STILL AREN'T OFF!" In a close panel a hooded figure with wide eyes gasps, "I KNEW IT! IT REALLY IS KAWAMATSU!" Below, the massive hooded warrior Kawamatsu looms over fallen foes. An enemy taunts, "SO YOU'RE THAT WEIRDO THAT LOVES POISONOUS FISH, EHI!" and another sneers, "THERE HE IS! THE DIRTY LITTLE PIPSQUEAK!" A voice cries, "AH! KIKU!" and another shouts, "KAWAMATSU!" while someone else yells, "YOU'RE NO LEGENDARY SAMURAI!" Kawamatsu swings his massive form, sending enemies flying amid dust and debris. In the distance a voice calls, "IT'S THAT NINJA FROM YESTERDAY! GET HIM!" and another warns, "THE INVADER'S RUN OFF!" A final panel shows a masked figure declaring, "I'LL TAKE THAT HEAD OF YOURS!" as the word "GLINT" flashes near a blade.

Kawamatsu is struck from behind; a voice calls, "KAWAMATSU! THE KEY TO YOUR CUFFS, AND YOUR BLADE!" The fish-bone projectiles hit, prompting cries of "THESE ARE FISH BONES! DAMN IT!" "NEEDLESI! NO..." and pained shouts of "OWWW!" and "FYUU!" A small figure labeled Raizo appears, stating, "JUST IN TIME, RAIZO." Raizo attacks with a sumo move, the note reading "T/N: A SUMO MOVE, 'OUTER THIGH PROPPING TWIST DOWN.'" The impact produces "OWAGH!" and "SCHHI INNG!" as enemies are sent flying. In the next panel a prisoner asks, "DO YOU MEN LIKE SUMOI" while another growls, "LET ME ASK YOU..." Kawamatsu grips his freed sword and declares, "IT'S BEEN TOO LONG," then proclaims, "MY BELOVED BLADE, 'SOTOMUSO'!" as the blade gleams.

A massive explosion erupts as Kawamatsu unleashes "TURRET RYUOU!" Enemies are blasted skyward amid the blast; one shouts, "WAGH! WHAT THE-I!" and another cries, "SOMEONE SENT THOSE GUYS FLYING!" while others yell "GYAH!" In the aftermath a figure notes, "THAT TECHNIQUE..." and another exclaims, "I'M SO GLAD!" A close-up shows Kawamatsu's fierce face as a voice states, "I SEE YOUR STRENGTH HAS NOT WANED, KAWAMATSU! TAKE HIM TOO LIGHTLY, AND YOU'LL LOSE." Someone reacts with "HUHI!" Below, Kawamatsu stands in a dramatic pose, the narration reading, "SUCH IS THE FIERCE KAPPA STYLE!" while a final panel shows his eyes and the line, "LIKE SWIMMING EVEN THE TORRENTS OF THE GREAT RIVERS..."

Kawamatsu reflects, "I WAS WRONG. MY ORGANS ARE GROANING. I HAD HEARD POISONOUS FISH WERE DELICIOUS," while an enemy groans, "GUIHE EGH!" He continues, "WHEN I THINK OF THE DISGRACE MY LORD SUFFERED, ALL HARDSHIPS SEEM BUT A SPRING BREEZE! I HAVE WAITED LONG FOR YOU!" A large panel shows him in full kappa form, labeled "KOZUKI FAMILY RETAINER YOKOZUNA KAWAMATSU," declaring, "NOW, WITNESS KAWAMATSU THE KAPPA!" as he swings his massive blade. The attack produces heavy impact sounds and sends foes flying; one screams, "GUWA AGH!" while the technique name "MAENAMI RIVER!" appears. The narration notes, "T/N: THE #1 RANKED SUMO WRESTLER IS CALLED THE YOKOZUNA."

Raizo bursts from the rubble, shouting with joy, "I AM GLAD TO SEE YOU ONCE MORE IN THIS WORLD!" Kiku smiles warmly and replies, "NOR HAVE YOU, RAIZO!" Someone exclaims, "KIKUI! I SEE YOU HAVEN'T CHANGED!" and another voice cries out, "KAWA-MATSU!" A guard panics, "THIS IS BAD! THE RED SHEATH'S BEEN RELEASED!" Raizo stares in shock, "KIKUI! SINCE WHEN HAVE YOU BEEN HEREI!" Kawamatsu suddenly doubles over, vomiting violently with a massive "GYAAAAAAG GGGHHHH!" He groans, "URGH... FORGIVE ME. 13 YEARS OF NAUSEA HIT ME AT ONCE." Nearby prisoners retch with "UH...", "UGGE EHHH!", and "URP!" A massive guard elephant looms over the chaos, bellowing, "WHAT'S GOING ONI! HOW DO WE HAVE THREE INTRUDERSI!" He orders his men, "ROGER! PREPARE THE PLAGUE BULLETS! MEN, GET INTO COMBAT POSITIONS!"

A guard yells in alarm, "WHO THE HECK IS THIS HUGE WOMANI!" Luffy is sent flying with a pained "UWAAA AGHHH!" as Kiku swings her blade, shouting, "GET AWAY FROM LUFFY-TARO!" Someone blurts out, "A KAPPAI!" A stern figure demands, "REVEAL YOUR IDENTITIES, FRIENDS!" Hyogoro appears and reacts with surprise, "HMI" A prisoner gasps, "WHA-I! IS THAT... BOSS HYOGOROI!" Luffy cries out, "GRAMPS!" Raizo and Kiku call out, "KIKU! RAIZO!" Kiku stands firm, declaring, "FROM BEHIND A DISGUISE!" Hyogoro replies gravely, "CANNOT BE HEARTENED." The narration continues over broken prisoners, "WARRIORS BEATEN INTO SUBMISSION MEN WHOSE SPIRITS HAVE BEEN BROKEN," as Hyogoro affirms, "INDEED."

The group realizes the truth: "AND I GUESS THAT OLD MAN REALLY IS HYOGORO OF THE FLOWERS!" and "THE SAMURAI AND THE STRONGEST SUMO WRESTLER, YOKOZUNA KAWAMATSU!" Luffy stares in confusion, "THEN WHO IN THE WORLD IS LUFFY-TARO!" A guard panics, "WE MUST REPORT THIS TO LORD KAIDO! SOMEHOW!" Another mutters, "IT'S LIKE ALL OF OROCHI'S PARANOID PRATTLE'S COME TRUE!" Raizo reflects, "AFTER ALL, WE'VE BEEN NAUGHT BUT GHOSTS FOR TWENTY YEARS!" The group resolves, "WE MUST FIRST WIN THEIR TRUST." A guard snarls, "MUST BE SILENCED." Raizo counters, "NO. ALL THAT HAVE SEEN US" The prisoners recognize the warriors: "AND THAT'S FUKUROKUJU'S RIVAL! THE NINJA RAIZO OF THE MIST!" Kiku smiles, "YES. BUT A WOMAN AT HEART ♡" A shocked voice blurts, "HUHI! YOU'RE A MANI!" The narration proclaims, "THE FOREMOST BEAUTIFUL SWORDSMAN OF WANO COUNTRY! KIKUNOJO OF THE LINGERING SNOWS!" Someone adds, "THAT MASK IS SCARY!" and "THAT MASK... I THOUGHT HE DIED AT ODEN CASTLE!"
