YOSAKU AND JOHNNY

The Going Merry sails peacefully on the open ocean under a cloudy sky. On the deck, Luffy proudly holds up a large black cloth that he has painted a pirate flag on. The drawing is incredibly crude and messy, depicting a lopsided skull wearing a straw hat with uneven crossbones behind it. Luffy laughs uproariously, "DON", "Ahhhahahahahaha!" He grins widely and declares, "ALRIGHT! OUR PIRATE FLAG IS DONE!" A bucket of white paint and a brush sit on the deck near his feet.

Zoro, Nami, and Usopp stand on the deck, staring in stunned silence at Luffy's terrible flag drawing. Usopp stammers, "O-OUR.... SYMBOL..." Luffy laughs proudly, "HAHAHA! I PUT A LOT OF THOUGHT IN TO MAKING OUR SYMBOL!" Zoro crosses his arms, looking unimpressed, "A PIRATE'S FLAG SHOULD BE A SYMBOL OF DEATH, BUT THIS FLAG IS... WELL... I GUESS IT'S QUITE TERRIFYING IN A SENSE." Nami holds her chin thoughtfully, "NO... THIS COULD BE SOME SORT OF ABSTRACT ART..." Usopp looks horrified, his jaw dropping, "CALLING HIM ARTISTICALLY CHALLENGED WOULD BE AN UNDERSTATEMENT..." Luffy holds the flag up higher, grinning, "WHADDYA THINK? HEE HEE!" Usopp angrily points at Luffy, yelling, "YOU COMPLETELY CHANGED THE SYMBOL!" Usopp then steps forward confidently, "LEAVE THE DRAWING TO ME! YOU'RE BEYOND TERRIBLE!"

Usopp has painted a new flag, laying it out on the deck next to Luffy's crude version. Usopp's flag is a perfect, professional-looking Jolly Roger with a skull wearing a straw hat and crossbones. Usopp points out, "IT DOESN'T LOOK EVEN REMOTELY LIKE THE OTHER ONE." Luffy sits nearby, impressed, "THAT'S GREAT! DRAW ONE ON OUR SAIL TOO LATER!" Nami smiles, "WOW, THAT'S PERFECT!" Usopp holds a paintbrush, looking incredibly smug, "I'M QUITE THE MASTER ARTIST, YOU KNOW. YEAH WELL, I'VE HONED MY ARTISTIC TALENTS BY DRAWING ON THE WALLS OF PEOPLE'S HOMES FOR YEARS." The scene shifts to a wide shot of the Going Merry sailing on the sea. The new Jolly Roger is flying from the top mast, and a massive version of it is painted on the main sail. Usopp declares, "ALRIGHT, IT'S DONE! WITH THIS, OUR PIRATE SHIP 'GOING MERRY' IS READY FOR ACTION!"

Usopp and Luffy are lying exhausted on the deck, panting. Usopp sighs, "AHH, I'M TIRED!" Zoro is sleeping soundly, leaning against the mast. Later, Usopp is standing by one of the ship's cannons, looking determined. Luffy walks up behind him, asking, "HEY, WHAT'RE YOU DOING ALL OF A SUDDEN!?" Usopp replies, "I'M TESTING OUT OUR CANNON! IT'D BE A WASTE NOT TO MAKE GOOD USE OF IT. BUT I CAN'T GET IT TO FIRE WELL..." Usopp pushes Luffy aside, "STAND ASIDE, MY AMATEUR FRIEND!" Usopp aims the cannon carefully, "JUDGING THE DISTANCE BETWEEN HERE AND THE TARGET... THIS SHOULD ABOUT DO IT..." Luffy points out to the sea, "TRY AIMING FOR THAT ROCK!" Usopp agrees, "OK!"

The cannon fires with a massive "BOOM!" The cannonball flies across the water and scores a direct hit on the large rock formation Luffy pointed out, blowing the top of it to pieces in a huge explosion. Usopp stands proudly by the smoking cannon, laughing with his hands on his hips, "I MEAN, OF COURSE I DID! FEEL FREE TO BOW DOWN BEFORE ME AND ADDRESS ME AS CAPTAIN! I'M AN EXPERT WHEN IT COMES TO ALL THINGS AIMING!" Luffy jumps up and down in amazement, "HOLY CRAP! YOU HIT IT ON YOUR FIRST SHOT! YOU'RE RIGHT, I DID!!!" Luffy smiles widely and declares, "I'VE DECIDED! YOU CAN BE OUR SNIPER!"

Inside the ship's kitchen and dining area, the crew is gathered around the table. Luffy sits on a barrel, stating, "I'LL TAKE CHARGE AS THE SHIP'S CAPTAIN." Usopp, sitting at the table, replies, "ALRIGHT, FINE. BUT IF YOU EVER CHICKEN OUT FROM YOUR DUTIES, ALRIGHT, I GUESS I CAN SETTLE FOR THAT FOR THE TIME BEING." Nami, resting her head on her hand, says, "THERE'S STILL ONE CRUCIAL POSITION OF A PIRATE CREW WE NEED TO FILL BEFORE ENTERING GRAND LINE." Luffy raises a finger, "HEY, I JUST HAD AN IDEA!" Nami continues, "THAT'S RIGHT, WE DO HAVE THIS FANTASTIC KITCHEN AFTER ALL. OF COURSE, I COULD DO IT AS LONG AS I GET PAID." Zoro, sitting nearby, adds, "AN INDISPENSABLE CREW MEMBER FOR LONG VOYAGES." Luffy grins, "YOU THINK SO TOO, RIGHT? YUP, WHAT A PIRATE SHIP CREW REALLY NEEDS IS... A MUSICIAN!" Zoro yells angrily, "ARE YOU RETARDED!?" Nami also yells, "AND HERE I THOUGHT YOU WERE GOING TO SAY SOMETHING SMART FOR THE FIRST TIME IN YOUR LIFE! DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT SAILING ON THE SEAS IS LIKE!?" Luffy protests, "B-BUT A PIRATE'S GOTTA SING!" Suddenly, a sword blade pierces through the outer wall of the room with a sharp "SHING...!"

A swordsman outside the cabin keeps attacking the ship, yelling, "COME OUT YOU DAMN PIRATES! I'M GONNA SLAUGHTER ALL OF YOU!" Luffy looks surprised, "WHAT?" His blade jabs through the wall into the room, and then he hacks across the deck and cabin structure, sending wood and barrels flying. Usopp yells from inside, "HEY! JUST WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE!?" The man, wearing sunglasses and a headband, stands on the deck holding his sword, looking menacing. He replies, "WHO AM I...? I SHOULD BE ASKING..."

The swordsman leaps into the air, swinging his blade down towards Luffy, screaming, "WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU ARE!!!" Luffy quickly dodges backward, "AGHH!" Inside the room, Nami asks nervously, "HOW MANY ENEMIES ARE OUT THERE?" Zoro calmly replies, "JUST ONE... I THINK. OH, THEN JUST LET LUFFY DEAL WITH HIM." The swordsman lands on the deck, his sword striking the wooden floor. He glares at Luffy, "I'VE KILLED COUNTLESS OF INFAMOUS PIRATES... AND YET A NAMELESS PERSON LIKE YOU..."

The swordsman swings his blade again, yelling, "DARES TO KILL MY PARTNER!?" Luffy easily dodges the strike, looking confused, "PARTNER...?" Luffy then swiftly grabs the man by the face and starts hurling him across the deck. Luffy says, "I DON'T KNOW WHO YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT BUT DON'T..."

Luffy continues the throw, slamming the man across the deck while yelling, "WRECK MY SHIP!" The man crashes onto the deck, defeated and groaning, "UGH...! A-ALMOST HAD HIM..." Luffy sits casually on the deck, holding his straw hat, and asks the downed man, "JUST WHAT THE HECK, ARE YOU SHOUTING ABOUT ANYWAYS?"

Zoro steps out onto the deck and looks down at the defeated swordsman. He recognizes him, "HUH? HEY! AREN'T YOU JOHNNY!?" Johnny looks up, shocked to see Zoro, "Z-ZORO!!? IS THAT REALLY YOU, BRO!?" Zoro asks, "WHERE'S YOSAKU? ISN'T HE USUALLY WITH YOU?" Johnny suddenly bursts into tears, "H-HE'S...!!! YOSAKU IS...!" Nami watches from the doorway, "THEY KNOW EACH OTHER...?" Luffy looks confused, "JUST WHAT'S GOING ON?"

Johnny is now kneeling on the deck, tending to another man, Yosaku, who is lying on his back looking extremely pale and sick. Someone reacts, "SICK!?" Johnny explains, "YEAH... HE WAS JUST FINE A COUPLE DAYS AGO, BUT ALL OF A SUDDEN HE TURNED PALE AND KEPT PASSING OUT! I DON'T KNOW WHAT HE'S COME DOWN WITH..." He continues, "HIS TEETH HAVE BEGUN TO FALL OUT, AND HIS OLD WOUNDS HAVE REOPENED...! I JUST DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO ANYMORE. I WAS TRYING TO AT LEAST LET HIM GET SOME REST ON TOP OF THAT ROCK BUT..." Luffy and Usopp suddenly realize what happened and look horrified, screaming, "ALL OF A SUDDEN, THIS SHIP FIRED A CANNONBALL AT US!!!" Luffy and Usopp bow deeply in apology, "W-WE'RE TRULY, TRULY SORRY." Johnny, still crying over his partner, says, "IT'S FINE, WHAT'S DONE IS DONE..." Luffy, sweating nervously, mutters, "IF ALL PROBLEMS COULD BE SOLVED WITH A SIMPLE APOLOGY, THERE WOULDN'T BE ANY NEED FOR POLICEMEN."

Johnny continues to weep over Yosaku, "'YOSAKU AND JOHNNY'... WE WERE INFAMOUS ENOUGH TO HAVE PIRATES SHAKING IN THEIR BOOTS AT THE MERE MENTION OF OUR NAMES FROM TIME TO TIME. WE'VE LIVED AND WORKED TOGETHER AS BOUNTY HUNTERS FOR YEARS! IS THIS... HOW IT'S ALL GONNA END!?" Nami looks down at them, annoyed, "GOD, HOW THICK COULD YOU GET!" Johnny angrily turns to her, "WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY!? LADY, I WON'T LET YOU GO FREE IF YOU DARE TO MAKE A MOCKERY OF MY PARTNER'S SUFFERING..." Nami ignores his threat and yells orders to Luffy and Usopp, "LUFFY! USOPP! THERE'RE SOME LIMES IN THE KITCHEN! GO SQUEEZE THE JUICE OUT AND BRING IT HERE ASAP!" Luffy and Usopp immediately run off to the kitchen, "R-ROGER!" Johnny looks confused, "LIMES...?"

Luffy pours a barrel of lime juice directly into Yosaku's mouth. Nami explains, "HE'S AFFLICTED WITH SCURVY. IF WE'RE NOT TOO LATE, HE SHOULD RECOVER JUST FINE IN A FEW DAYS." She continues, "IT'S CAUSED BY LACK OF NUTRIENTS FOUND IN FRUITS AND VEGETABLES. IN THE PAST, IT WAS PRACTICALLY A DEATH SENTENCE FOR SAILORS. IT WAS QUITE COMMON BACK THEN BECAUSE SHIPS SIMPLY DIDN'T HAVE THE TECHNOLOGY TO EFFECTIVELY STORE FRESH FRUITS AND VEGETABLES FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME..." Johnny is amazed and tearful, "A-ARE YOU TELLING ME THE TRUTH, SIS!?" Nami replies flatly, "PLEASE DON'T CALL ME SIS." Luffy looks at Nami in awe, "WOOOW! YOU'RE LIKE A DOCTOR!" Usopp crosses his arms proudly, "YEAH, I ALWAYS KNEW THAT GIRL WAS SPECIAL. USOPP'S EYES ARE NEVER WRONG." Nami suddenly yells at them angrily, "IF YOU'RE GOING TO BE SAILING, YOU SHOULD KNOW AT LEAST THIS MUCH! GOD, YOUR STUPIDITY WILL BE THE DEATH OF ALL OF YOU!"

Suddenly, Yosaku jumps up, completely energized, yelling, "ALRIGHT, I'M CHARGED UP ON NUTRIENTS AND READY FOR ACTION!" Johnny cheers, "HAHA, MY PARTNER'S FINE NOW!" Nami is shocked, her eyes bugging out, "LIKE HELL HE COULD RECOVER THAT FAST!" Johnny and Yosaku stand together in a cool pose, both wearing sunglasses and holding their swords. Johnny says, "SORRY FOR THE LATE INTRODUCTIONS. THE NAME'S JOHNNY!" Yosaku adds, "AND I'M YOSAKU!" Johnny continues, "ZORO USED TO BOUNTY HUNT WITH US IN THE PAST! NICE TO MEET YOU ALL!" A caption box introduces them: "BOUNTY HUNTER DUO, 'YOSAKU AND JOHNNY'".

Johnny talks to Zoro, "I DON'T KNOW HOW TO THANK YOU. I THOUGHT I BIT THE DUST FOR SURE. WELL, COLOUR ME SURPRISED! I NEVER WOULD'VE EXPECTED THE INFAMOUS PIRATE HUNTER ZORO TO HAVE BECOME A PIRATE HIMSELF!" Suddenly, Yosaku violently spits up blood and collapses backward, "BUHEE! BLARGH!" Johnny panics, "YOSAKU!" Nami yells angrily, "JUST SHUT UP AND GET SOME REST ALREADY!" Nami sits down on the deck, looking serious, "LET THIS BE A LESSON TO THE REST OF YOU... THESE ARE THE KINDS OF DANGERS WE'LL HAVE TO FACE ON LONG VOYAGES. HE WOULD'VE DIED FOR SURE IF HE HADN'T COME ACROSS US."

Nami continues, "WE DEFINITELY NEED SOMEONE TO THINK ABOUT OUR DIET TO SEE TO IT THAT WE STAY HEALTHY. WHAT WE NEED IS A 'CHEF OF THE SEA.' IF YOU THINK ABOUT IT, THAT'S ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT TALENTS TO HAVE WHEN YOU'RE OUT ON THE SEAS." Luffy smiles widely, his tongue sticking out, "ALRIGHT, I'VE DECIDED THEN! LET'S GO LOOK FOR A SEA COOK! EATING GOOD FOOD IS NEVER A BAD THING!" Johnny speaks up, "BRO! IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR A COOK, I KNOW JUST THE PLACE. OF COURSE, GETTING ONE TO JOIN YOU IS ANOTHER MATTER ALTOGETHER..." Luffy asks, "WHAT IS IT, JOHNNY?"

Luffy looks excited, "A RESTAURANT ON THE SEAS!?" Johnny explains, "THAT'S RIGHT. YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO REACH IT FROM HERE IN 2-3 DAYS. BUT THAT PLACE IS CLOSE TO THE GRAND LINE SO YOU GOTTA BE CAREFUL. LOTTA DANGEROUS GUYS AROUND THOSE PARTS. EVEN THAT 'HAWK-EYED MAN', YOU'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR HAS BEEN SIGHTED THERE ONCE BEFORE." Zoro looks serious upon hearing this. Luffy cheers, "ALRIGHT!" Johnny raises a hand and says, "IF IT'S ALRIGHT WITH YOU, I'LL LEAD THE WAY!" The Going Merry is shown sailing away. A narration box reads: "PICKING UP THE ODD DUO, YOSAKU AND JOHNNY, THE SHIP CHANGES DIRECTION SLIGHTLY TO THE NORTH. THEIR DESTINATION: RESTAURANT ON THE SEAS."
