YOSAKU AND JOHNNY

On the open sea, the Going Merry sails in the distance. Below deck on the ship, Monkey D. Luffy stands triumphantly with arms spread wide, holding up a massive black pirate flag bearing a skull and crossbones. He shouts with excitement as the enormous word "DON" dominates the panel. The flag is freshly painted, with paint cans and brushes scattered on the wooden floor. Luffy declares, "OUR PIRATE FLAG IS DONE!" and adds "ALRIGHT!" while a large Japanese sound effect "あっはっはっはっはっ" bursts from his mouth.

On the deck of the Going Merry, Roronoa Zoro, Nami, and Usopp react to the new flag. Zoro crosses his arms and says, "WELL... I GUESS IT'S QUITE TERRIFYING IN A SENSE." Nami looks concerned, thinking "NO... THIS COULD BE SOME SORT OF ABSTRACT ART..." Usopp exclaims, "CALLING HIM ARTISTICALLY CHALLENGED WOULD BE AN UNDERSTATEMENT..." and a voice notes "A PIRATE'S FLAG SHOULD BE A SYMBOL OF DEATH, BUT THIS FLAG IS..." Luffy proudly asks "WHADYA THINKI" while holding the flag. Sanji angrily yells "YOU'RE BEYOND TERRIBLE!" and "LEAVE THE DRAWING TO ME!" as the crew struggles with the oversized banner. Sound effects like "カポーン" and "どーん!" punctuate the chaos.

The crew continues working on the flag. Nami smiles and says "WOW, THAT'S PERFECT!" and "THERE WE GO." Usopp, paintbrush in hand, grins and declares "I'M QUITE THE MASTER ARTIST, YOU KNOW." and "YEAH WELL, I'VE HONED MY ARTISTIC TALENTS BY DRAWING ON THE WALLS OF PEOPLE'S HOMES FOR YEARS." Multiple versions of the flag lie on the deck as the group admires their work. In the final panel, the Going Merry sails proudly with the completed Jolly Roger flag waving. Luffy announces "ALRIGHT, IT'S DONE!" and "WITH THIS, OUR PIRATE SHIP 'GOING MERRY' IS READY FOR ACTION!" as the ship cuts through the waves.

On the deck of the ship, several crew members lie sprawled out exhausted. One groans, "AHH, I'M TIRED!" while another mutters nearby. Luffy suddenly sits up with a start, "HM!I" In the next panels, Luffy stands by the cannon and shouts, "STAND ASIDE, MY AMATEUR FRIEND! BUT I CAN'T GET IT TO FIRE WELL..." A voice from the cannon replies, "I'M TESTING OUT OUR CANNON! IT'D BE A WASTE NOT TO MAKE GOOD USE OF IT." Someone else calls out, "HEY, WHAT'RE YOU DOING ALL OF A SUDDEN!I" Luffy aims carefully, thinking, "THIS SHOULD DO IT... JUDGING THE DISTANCE BETWEEN HERE AND THE TARGET..." Usopp, wearing goggles and a headband, stands ready as Luffy yells, "OK! TRY AIMING FOR THAT ROCK!"

The cannon fires with a massive "ドゴォォンッ" impact, blasting a huge chunk out of a distant rocky island as the ship sails nearby. Usopp leaps up triumphantly, declaring, "I MEAN, OF COURSE I DID! I'M AN EXPERT WHEN IT COMES TO ALL THINGS AIMING!" Luffy and the others react in shock and excitement as the shot lands perfectly. Usopp continues boasting, "FEEL FREE TO BOW DOWN BEFORE ME AND ADDRESS ME AS CAPTAIN!" Luffy stares in amazement, then breaks into a huge grin and shouts, "YOU'RE RIGHT, I DID!! HOLY CRAP! YOU HIT IT ON YOUR FIRST SHOT!" In the final panel Luffy points excitedly and announces, "YOU CAN BE OUR SNIPER! I'VE DECIDED!"

Inside the ship's dining area, the crew gathers around the table. Luffy declares, "I'LL TAKE CHARGE AS THE SHIP'S CAPTAIN." Nami responds, "ALRIGHT, FINE. BUT IF YOU EVER CHICKEN OUT FROM YOUR DUTIES, ALRIGHT, I GUESS I CAN SETTLE FOR THAT FOR THE TIME BEING." The discussion turns to filling roles. Luffy asks, "YOU THINK SO TOO, RIGHTI" Usopp agrees, "YUP, WHAT A PIRATE SHIP CREW REALLY NEEDS..." Nami adds, "AN INDISPENSABLE CREW MEMBER FOR LONG VOYAGES. THAT'S RIGHT, WE DO HAVE THIS FANTASTIC KITCHEN AFTER ALL. OF COURSE, I COULD DO IT AS LONG AS I GET PAID." Luffy suddenly raises a finger with an idea, "THERE'S STILL ONE CRUCIAL POSITION OF A PIRATE CREW WE NEED TO FILL BEFORE ENTERING GRAND LINE. HEY, I JUST HAD AN IDEA!" He excitedly suggests, "A MUSICIAN!" The others react with shock and disbelief, one yelling, "B-BUT A PIRATE'S GOTTA SING! DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT SAILING ON THE SEAS IS LIKE!I AND HERE I THOUGHT YOU WERE GOING TO SAY SOMETHING SMART FOR THE FIRST TIME IN YOUR LIFE!I ARE YOU RETARDED!I"

Luffy erupts in fury, shouting, "I'M GONNA SLAUGHTER ALL OF YOU! COME OUT YOU DAMN PIRATES!" as impact lines and debris fly around him. A crewmate yells back, "WHAT!I" while another voice demands, "JUST WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE!I HEY!" The scene erupts into chaos with flying barrels, shattered wood, and massive impact effects "バンッ..." and "カシャアアアン". In the aftermath, a lone figure stands amid the wreckage on the deck, muttering, "I SHOULD BE ASKING... WHO AM I...I"

Inside the Baratie, Nami and Usopp watch from cover as Luffy faces the enemy alone. "OH, THEN JUST LET LUFFY DEAL WITH HIM." "JUST ONE... I THINK." "HOW MANY ENEMIES ARE OUT THEREI" The pirate swings his chain weapon wildly. "AGHH!" Luffy is struck mid-air. The attacker roars, "WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU ARE!!!" as massive impact lettering erupts. In the next panel the pirate's massive sandal stomps down with a "ドン..." sound. A close-up reveals the furious face of the chain-wielding pirate, sea tattoo visible on his cheek. He snarls, "AND YET A NAMELESS PERSON LIKE YOU..." and continues, "I'VE KILLED COUNTLESS OF INFAMOUS PIRATES..."

Luffy's eyes blaze as he counters the attack. "DARES TO KILL MY PARTNER!I" The pirate is sent flying backward. Luffy lands in a powerful stance, muttering "PARTNER...I" The pirate crashes hard with a loud "ドンッ!!" impact. Luffy shouts, "I DON'T KNOW WHO YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT BUT" as he delivers a devastating kick. The pirate is hurled through the air, sword flying from his grip. A final desperate word escapes him: "DON'T..."

The pirate is smashed through the wooden wall in an enormous impact, debris exploding outward. He yells, "WRECK MY SHIP!" Below, Luffy sits cross-legged on the deck, straw hat tilted back, grinning widely. He calls out, "ARE YOU SHOUTING ABOUT ANYWAYSI" and adds, "JUST WHAT THE HECK," while the pirate lies defeated nearby with a weak "UGH...!" and the sound "ドスン...!" Another voice mutters, "A-ALMOST HAD HIM..."

Zoro stares in surprise. "HUHI" Johnny looks up from the floor and shouts, "HEY! AREN'T YOU JOHNNY!I" Yosaku appears on the upper walkway, shocked. "H-HE'S...!!!" "WHERE'S YOSAKUI ISN'T HE USUALLY WITH YOUI" Johnny yells, "Z-ZORO!!I IS THAT REALLY YOU, BRO!I" Luffy, Nami, and Usopp peer out from their hiding spot. Luffy exclaims, "YOSAKU IS...!" Nami wonders, "JUST WHAT'S GOING ON...I" Usopp adds, "THEY KNOW EACH OTHER...I"

On the deck of the ship, onlookers discuss the sudden illness that struck their companion. "BUT ALL OF A SUDDEN HE TURNED PALE AND KEPT PASSING OUT! I DON'T KNOW WHAT HE'S COME DOWN WITH..." another replies, "YEAH... HE WAS JUST FINE A COUPLE DAYS AGO." A distant view shows their battered ship adrift as someone exclaims, "SICK!I" Johnny leans over the ailing Yosaku, sweat pouring down his face. "I JUST DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO ANYMORE. I WAS TRYING TO AT LEAST LET HIM GET SOME REST ON TOP OF THAT ROCK BUT..." Close details reveal Yosaku's teeth falling out and old wounds reopening. Below deck, Luffy, Usopp, and Nami react in shock to an incoming cannonball. "IF ALL PROBLEMS COULD BE SOLVED WITH A SIMPLE APOLOGY, THERE WOULDN'T BE ANY NEED FOR POLICEMEN." Usopp bows deeply, "IT'S FINE, WHAT'S DONE IS DONE..." "W-WE'RE TRULY, TRULY SORRY." Luffy and Usopp both gape in horror as the impact hits, "ALL OF A SUDDEN, THIS SHIP FIRED A CANNONBALL AT US!!!"

Zoro stands with a grim expression while Johnny, covered in sweat, clutches the weakened Yosaku. "WE'VE LIVED AND WORKED TOGETHER AS BOUNTY HUNTERS FOR YEARS!" Johnny cries, "YOSAKU AND JOHNNY... WE WERE INFAMOUS ENOUGH TO HAVE PIRATES SHAKING IN THEIR BOOTS AT THE MERE MENTION OF OUR NAMES FROM TIME TO TIME. IS THIS... HOW IT'S ALL GONNA END!I" Nami confronts a Marine officer holding a woman hostage. "LADY, I WON'T LET YOU GO FREE IF YOU DARE TO MAKE A MOCKERY OF MY PARTNER'S SUFFERING..." she snaps, "WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY!I" In close-up she shouts, "GOD, HOW THICK COULD YOU GET!" Yosaku weakly mutters, "LIMES...I" as Nami calls out, "LUFFY! USOPP! THERE'RE SOME LIMES IN THE KITCHEN! GO SQUEEZE THE JUICE OUT AND BRING IT HERE ASAP!"

Luffy holds a barrel of limes to Yosaku's mouth. "HE'S AFFLICTED WITH SCURVY. IF WE'RE NOT TOO LATE, HE SHOULD RECOVER JUST FINE IN A FEW DAYS." Nami explains the disease, "IT'S CAUSED BY LACK OF NUTRIENTS FOUND IN FRUITS AND VEGETABLES. IN THE PAST, IT WAS PRACTICALLY A DEATH SENTENCE FOR SAILORS." Johnny stares in disbelief, "A-ARE YOU TELLING ME THE TRUTH, SIS!I" Nami continues, "IT WAS QUITE COMMON BACK THEN BECAUSE SHIPS SIMPLY DIDN'T HAVE THE TECHNOLOGY TO EFFECTIVELY STORE FRESH FRUITS AND VEGETABLES FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME..." Usopp and Luffy react with surprise as Nami adds, "IF YOU'RE GOING TO BE SAILING, YOU SHOULD KNOW AT LEAST THIS MUCH! GOD, YOUR STUPIDITY WILL BE THE DEATH OF YOU ALL"

Yosaku suddenly springs back to life, leaping with Johnny in celebration. "LIKE HELL HE COULD RECOVER THAT FAST!" someone yells as the duo shouts, "HAHA, MY PARTNER'S FINE NOW!" and "ALRIGHT, I'M CHARGED UP ON NUTRIENTS AND READY FOR ACTION!" The two bounty hunters strike dramatic poses. Johnny says, "ZORO USED TO BOUNTY HUNT WITH US IN THE PAST!" while Yosaku adds, "AND I'M YOSAKU!" Johnny continues, "SORRY FOR THE LATE INTRODUCTIONS. THE NAME'S JOHNNY! NICE TO MEET YOU ALL!" A large title card declares, "BOUNTY HUNTER DUO, 'YOSAKU AND JOHNNY'" as the pair stands confidently before the Straw Hats.

On the deck of the ship, the crew reflects on recent events. Zoro stands with his back to the group as Johnny speaks, "WELL, COLOUR ME SURPRISED! I NEVER WOULD'VE EXPECTED THE INFAMOUS PIRATE HUNTER ZORO TO HAVE BECOME A PIRATE HIMSELF!" Yosaku adds, "I DON'T KNOW HOW TO THANK YOU. I THOUGHT I BIT THE DUST FOR SURE." Luffy sits nearby listening. In a sudden flashback panel, Yosaku and Johnny are shown being beaten as a large bearded man yells, "JUST SHUT UP AND GET SOME REST ALREADY!" with sound effects "BLARGH!" "BUHEE!" and "YOSAKU!". Back in the present, Luffy sits with Nami and the others. Someone explains, "HE WOULD'VE DIED FOR SURE IF HE HADN'T COME ACROSS US." Johnny continues, "THESE ARE THE KINDS OF DANGERS WE'LL HAVE TO FACE ON LONG VOYAGES. LET THIS BE A LESSON TO THE REST OF YOU..." while Yosaku lies exhausted nearby with "ein... ton..." sound effects.

Nami sits with her arms around her knees as the crew discusses their needs. She notes, "IF YOU THINK ABOUT IT, THAT'S ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT TALENTS TO HAVE WHEN YOU'RE OUT ON THE SEAS." Johnny leans back with his hands behind his head, saying, "WHAT WE NEED IS A 'CHEF OF THE SEA.' WE DEFINITELY NEED SOMEONE TO THINK ABOUT OUR DIET TO SEE TO IT THAT WE STAY HEALTHY." Luffy suddenly bursts out with a huge grin and tongue out, "EATING GOOD FOOD IS NEVER A BAD THING! ALRIGHT, I'VE DECIDED THEN! LET'S GO LOOK FOR A SEA COOK!" Zoro, with a serious expression and his trademark marks visible, replies, "OF COURSE, GETTING ONE TO JOIN YOU IS ANOTHER MATTER ALTOGETHER... IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR A COOK, I KNOW JUST THE PLACE." In the background, Johnny raises his hand excitedly, "WHAT IS IT, JOHNNYI" "BRO!"

Luffy throws his arms up excitedly and shouts, "A RESTAURANT ON THE SEAS!I" while Nami smiles and Zoro stands with arms crossed looking skeptical. Johnny explains the plan: "IF IT'S ALRIGHT, I'LL LEAD THE WAY!" He adds, "YOU'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR HAS BEEN SIGHTED THERE ONCE BEFORE. EVEN THAT 'HAWK-EYED MAN'." Yosaku warns, "BUT THAT PLACE IS CLOSE TO THE GRAND LINE SO YOU GOTTA BE CAREFUL. THAT'S RIGHT. YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO REACH IT FROM HERE IN 2-3 DAYS. LOTTA DANGEROUS GUYS AROUND THOSE PARTS." The crew agrees and sets sail. A wide shot shows their ship changing course northward on the open sea with narration boxes stating, "THE SHIP CHANGES DIRECTION SLIGHTLY TO THE NORTH. THEIR DESTINATION: RESTAURANT ON THE SEAS." and "PICKING UP THE ODD DUO, YOSAKU AND JOHNNY,".
