Doflamingo Appears

On Punk Hazard, the poison gas no longer controls the field. As the protective gear proves effective, someone marvels, "THE GAS HAS NO EFFECT!?" Another voice explains, "THIS PROTECTIVE GEAR WAS DEVELOPED BY VEGAPUNK," and the answer to Caesar's failure becomes clear: "HE'S REALLY WAY SMARTER THAN CAESAR!" Caesar understood the danger too, and that is why he ordered the gear removed: "BUT CAESAR KNEW THAT. THAT'S WHY..." The men realize, "THAT'S WHY HE SAID THE GEAR WOULDN'T PROVIDE PROTECTION," and, "HE TOLD THEM TO STRIP IT OFF IN ORDER TO RUN AWAY AT FULL SPEED." The result is visible around them: Caesar's own men are frozen in place. "SO THAT'S WHY HIS MEN GOT PETRIFIED," one says, while another urges, "HEY, HURRY UP!!" The trapped allies are still paralyzed, and the rescuers have only a little time before the poison finishes its work: "BECAUSE OF THAT, THEY'VE ONLY GOT ANOTHER HALF DAY OR SO BEFORE THEY ABSORB THE POISON AND DIE...!! WE'VE GOT TO FIND THEM AND BREAK THOSE SHELLS!!"

Brownbeard, still battered but alive, thanks the Marines for letting him return into the island: "UOH HO, THANKS FOR THIS. TO THINK YOU'D GIVE US PERMISSION TO HEAD BACK INTO THE ISLAND...!!" He accepts that saving his men comes before his own freedom: "NOW I CAN SAVE MY MEN...!! BUT I'LL DEFINITELY COME BACK HERE SO YOU CAN ARREST ME!!" He promises, "I WON'T FORGET YOUR NAME...!!" The Marine response is curt: "WHATEVER. THIS THE ONLY EXIT... HURRY UP AND GO NOW." As the search begins, they reach the petrified bodies and the air turns uneasy. "WHAT DO WE DO NOW... ALL WE HAVE TO TAKE IN ARE THESE," someone says. The frozen, chained forms lie in the snow while the Marines ask the uncomfortable question: "ARE THESE GUYS PIRATES?" Another answers only with nervous disgust: "WELL... THIS IS KIND OF CREEPY."

The search is interrupted from above. A Marine notices something unnatural in the sky: "HUH!? I SEE A HEAD! INCOMING!!" Another looks up and mutters, "HMM?" then "AH!!" The shape is not falling wreckage. It is Baby 5 and Buffalo's severed heads, sent down ahead of Doflamingo's arrival. The Marines recoil: "EH? WHAT ARE YOU..." Then the pieces come crashing through the air. Someone shouts, "THEY CAME FLYING DOWN!!" A horrified Marine understands the identity of what has landed: "Y... YOU'RE RIGHT, THEY'RE HEADS!!" The scene turns from rescue to threat in a breath. Law's message to Doflamingo has arrived on Punk Hazard, and Doflamingo himself is close behind it.

Doflamingo lands in the middle of the Marines like a force dropped from the sky. The air roars with "WHOOSH" as he descends, and the men around him barely have time to understand what is happening. One Marine cries, "EH!?" Another recognizes him in disbelief: "DO-!!" The name forms with terror before the full realization hits: "DOFLA-MINGO!??" Doflamingo's face is calm, almost amused, but the page gives him the weight of disaster. His arrival confirms that Punk Hazard's aftermath is not safe at all. Law's operation did not merely end Caesar's experiment; it dragged one of the most dangerous Shichibukai directly onto the island, and now the Marines left behind are standing in his path.

The Marines break into panic the moment Doflamingo moves. "WHY IS HE HERE!?" one shouts, while another can only say, "WHY..." Doflamingo does not answer with words. His power sweeps through them, and the men are thrown, cut, and scattered across the snow. Weapons fly from their hands. Bodies slam into the ground. The page is mostly impact and sound, with the Marines reduced to broken cries: "!?" and "UHH..." Doflamingo strides through the chaos as if the entire squad is nothing more than debris. The sudden violence shows the difference between ordinary Marine strength and the kind of threat Law has deliberately provoked. G-5 survived Caesar's laboratory and helped save the children, but against Doflamingo they are helpless almost immediately.

Doflamingo laughs over the fallen Marines: "FLUFFU FLUFFU FLUFFU!!" Someone identifies the pressure that just overwhelmed them: "THAT WAS CONQUEROR'S HAKI!!" The Marines cannot reconcile the attack with Doflamingo's official position and shout, "WHY'S A SHICHIBUKAI ATTACKING MARINES!!?" Doflamingo does not care about the title in that moment. He asks only, "WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING!!?" and notes, "THEY'RE ALL GONE, HUH..." There is "NO SHIP EITHER..." He guesses the Straw Hats have escaped: "BUT I'M SURE THERE WERE PIRATES HERE... JUST A LITTLE WHILE AGO." Then his attention shifts to the empty sea: "NOW WHERE HAVE THEY GONE..." G-5 tries to rally around its wounded men. One cries, "SMOKER...!!" another warns, "LOOK OUT, YOU GUYS!!" and a Marine screams, "HOW DARE YOU DO THAT TO OUR COMRADES!!!"

G-5 charges anyway, but their courage changes nothing. A Marine shouts, "LAW ASIDE STRAWHAT IS JUST A COMMON PIRATE!!" Another demands, "NOW WHERE HAVE THEY RUN OFF TO!!" Doflamingo answers by cutting through the squad with invisible force. Marines are flung backward, bodies twisting through the air as the page fills with impact sounds and screams: "GYAHH HHHHH HHHH!!" He moves with terrifying ease, leaving men sprawled across the snow while he turns his head as if bored by their resistance. The attack is not a formal fight; it is a demonstration. Anyone left on Punk Hazard who tries to stand between Doflamingo and the fugitives is brushed aside before they can become an obstacle.

Doflamingo looks out over the snow and speaks Law's underworld name: "JOKER." The answer is uncertain: "...WELL, I DON'T REALLY KNOW." Smoker, badly wounded, tries to process the Straw Hats' route: "I'M PLANNING ON HEADING TO GREEN BIT NOW, BUT..." Doflamingo cuts through the uncertainty with anger: "WHAT DIRECTION DID THOSE BRATS HEAD IN!!?" The Marines realize the pirates have slipped away: "...SO THEY'RE GONE THEN!?" One says, "THEY SLIPPED RIGHT THROUGH OUR FINGERS. I'LL HAVE A LOT TO ANSWER FOR TO BASE COMMANDER VERGO..." Another calls to Smoker: "SMO-YA..." Smoker's reply is grimly dry even now: "BUT YOU... IT SEEMS LIKE YOU KNOW A BIT TOO MUCH...!!" Then Doflamingo strikes, and the cry rises from the smoke: "VICE ADMIRAL SMO!!"

Meanwhile the Thousand Sunny is fighting the sea itself. The ship slides fast through a violent channel, and the warning goes out: "KEEP YOUR EYES PEELED FOR REEFS!!" Someone laughs breathlessly, "HYAH HHHHH HHH!!" The crew is alarmed by the speed and the strange water: "IT'S LIKE WE'RE GOING DOWN A SLOPE!! WHAT'S WITH THESE WATERS!?" Luffy shouts, "THE SHIP'S GOING REAL FAST!!" Brook observes, "IT'S A 'SEASLOPE.' THERE ARE PLENTY OF THEM," and then corrects a misunderstanding: "NO, BROOK. IT'S NOT LAMB. IT'S 'LAMB MERRY' #2." He adds, "INCIDENTALLY YOU'RE THE EIGHTH PERSON WHO'S ASKED." Franky explains why the Mini Merry returned: "YOU SEE, THERE WAS A CHANNEL RIGHT NEAR THE LAB, YEAH? SO I TOOK SUNNY AND ESCAPED FROM THERE." He also says, "AFTER HITTING THE OCEAN, I WENT RIGHT BACK TO THE ENTRANCE IN ORDER TO RETRIEVE THE MINI MERRY." Brook is relieved: "LAMB-CHAN WAS ALRIGHT. THANK GOODNESS."

On the Sunny, the destination becomes the next shock. Luffy yells, "NAMI!! WHERE WAS IT AGAIN? WHERE'RE WE GOING NOW?" Nami answers, "SOMEWHERE CALLED 'DRESSROSA'," and explains that "TORA-MAN-KUN SAID THAT WE'LL ARRIVE THERE... NOT BY FOLLOWING THIS MIDDLE NEEDLE DIRECTLY, BUT BY TAKING A ROUNDABOUT ROUTE." Kin'emon hears the name and reacts with horror: "D... DRESSROSA!?" Luffy notices: "YOU KNOW IT?" Kin'emon stammers, "THE... THE ISLAND THAT WE... ERR... THAT I WISH TO GO TO." Luffy then reveals who he spoke to before: "DOFLA-MINGO." Sanji immediately identifies the danger: "DOFLAMINGO!? THE GUY KNOWN AS THE WORST OF THE SHICHIBUKAI!!" Law says, "THE PLAN IS ALREADY IN MOTION." Luffy, delighted rather than cautious, shouts, "OH YEAH, TELL US THE PLAN!! EVERYBODY!! GATHER ROUND!!"

Law states the reason for the alliance plainly as the Sunny races onward: "WE'RE IN AN ALLIANCE IN ORDER TO BRING DOWN A YONKOU!!" Luffy grins and reduces the danger to excitement: "A YONKOU, HUH! SOUNDS GOOD." Usopp reacts the opposite way: "NOTHING GOOD ABOUT IT!!" Chopper tries to keep everyone from spiraling: "HOLD ON NOW!! EVERYONE JUST CALM DOWN." He asks Luffy, "LUFFY! DID YOU REALLY JUST GO AHEAD AND ALLY YOURSELF WITH SOME MYSTERIOUS GUYS?" Luffy answers cheerfully, "YUP! WE'RE IN ALLIANCE NOW!" and then tries to make it even friendlier: "OUR CREW AND TORA-MAN'S!! SO LET'S ALL BE FRIENDS!! SHISHISHI!!" Law sits silently beside him, visibly less amused. Nami warns him, "I'M WARNING YOU NOW. YOUR IDEA OF AN 'ALLIANCE' AND LUFFY'S VERSION ARE PROBABLY A BIT DIFFERENT. SO BE CAREFUL." Brook raises a formal objection: "ONE MEMBER IS OPPOSED TO THIS MOTION!!" but Luffy has already decided, and the crew understands that the decision is functionally settled.

Law begins explaining the chain of events that led to the current plan. Caesar, still furious and terrified, reminds everyone of his warning: "...SHURORORO. DON'T THINK YOU ALL ARE GOING TO GET AWAY WITH WHAT YOU'VE DONE...!!" He adds, "YOU'LL HAVE SOME REAL BIG PLAYERS AFTER YOU NOW, YOU FOOLS!!" Law explains why Luffy was suddenly accused of kidnapping: "SO THAT'S WHY LUFFY WAS GOING ON AND ON ABOUT 'KIDNAPPING'..." and Sanji realizes Caesar had tried to manipulate them: "BECAUSE IF YOU WERE ABOUT TO TELL ME TO COOK UP THIS WEIRD SHEEP THAT YOU'VE CAUGHT EVEN I MIGHT HAVE TAKEN ISSUE..." Caesar snaps, "AND YOU WILL DIE!!" and warns, "YOU WILL COME TO UNDERSTAND HOW STUPID YOU'VE BEEN...!!" Law ignores the panic and points to the core of the Punk Hazard operation: "ON PUNK HAZARD, I ASKED YOU TO KIDNAP CAESAR. AND I DESTROYED THE EQUIPMENT USED TO PRODUCE THE CHEMICAL KNOWN AS S.A.D."

Law pulls the curtain back on the New World structure. "THE BIG PIRATE CREWS IN THE NEW WORLD HAVE DIVIDED MOST OF THE SEA INTO SPHERES OF INFLUENCE, WHERE THEY COMMAND COUNTLESS UNDERLINGS." If a single pirate crew tried to challenge them, it would barely even reach the captain: "IF JUST A SINGLE PIRATE CREW WERE TO RISE UP TO CHALLENGE THEM, YOU WOULDN'T EVEN GET AN AUDIENCE WITH A CAPTAIN...!!" Law describes the system as underground power on an unprecedented scale: "THE CURRENT SCALE OF THIS SETUP IS UN-PRECEDENTED!!" These crews "REIGN OVER LIKE A GIANT CRIME SYNDICATE." The underworld operates in shadow, "WITHOUT ATTRACTING TOO MUCH ATTENTION FROM THE MARINES," and "THEY CONDUCT THEIR NECESSARY DEALINGS IN SHADOW...!!" Law says its most trusted and powerful dealer is Doflamingo, and adds the key alias: "IN THE SHADOWS, HE GOES BY 'JOKER.'" His greatest client is the target of their alliance: "MOREOVER, JOKER'S BIGGEST CLIENT IS CURRENTLY THE YONKOU, 'KAIDOU OF THE HUNDRED BEASTS.'"

Before Law can continue smoothly, the crew gets distracted by Caesar and Kin'emon's transformed son. Someone pleads, "PLEASE GO ON!" while another says, "IT'S NOTHING, THAT IT'S NOT...!!" and another protests, "NO...!!" Kin'emon screams at the tiny dragon form, "WAHH!! WHAT ON EARTH IS THIS, THIS DRAGON!!" Luffy calmly identifies him: "THAT'S HIM," and Kin'emon panics, "WH... WHERE'S MOMONOSUKE?" The answer lands: "AHH!! THAT'S RIGHT, THAT IT IS! I SEE... SO HE CAME TO BE LIKE THAT!!" Law returns to the strategic point. The real target is Kaidou himself: "WHAT WE'RE AFTER IS NONE OTHER THAN THE HEAD OF THE EMPEROR, KAIDOU...!!" He explains that Kaidou has recently made a massive purchase from Joker: "KAIDOU HAS RECENTLY PUT IN FOR A LARGE PURCHASE OF FRUITS FROM JOKER." Those fruits are "THE ARTIFICIAL ZOAN TYPE DEVIL FRUITS KNOWN AS 'SMILE'," and "THE KEY TO DOING THIS IS TO REDUCE THE STRENGTH OF HIS FORCES!!"

Law explains why SMILE matters so much. If the artificial fruits are made artificially, then "THERE'D BE NO LIMIT TO THE NUMBER OF ABILITY USERS HE COULD HAVE!!" Caesar confirms, "YES, THAT'S CORRECT." At present, "KAIDOU HAS OVER 500 ABILITY USERS ON HIS CREW," but there is still a risk in using these artificial ones. Luffy and the others react in shock, and someone asks for a vote: "ALL THOSE IN FAVOR OF QUITTING!" Hands immediately shoot up with "ME" and "ME," until Nami cuts them off: "BE QUIET." Law finishes the point: "BUT THAT NUMBER WON'T BE INCREASING ANYMORE." The crew finally turns its attention to Caesar as the source of the science. Sanji says, "EH THIS GUY!?" Caesar preens, blushing and laughing, "SHU... SHURORO," as he is praised: "YOU'RE THE ONE WHO MADE THE SOURCE OF THOSE DEVIL FRUITS, S.A.D.? AMAZING!" Then the mood flips when someone points at him and warns, "HE'S THE CULPRIT HERE! DON'T PRAISE HIM!"

Law clarifies that Caesar's work was not genius in the pure sense. "IT WAS SIMPLY A PRACTICAL APPLICATION OF THE 'LINEAGE FACTORS' THAT VEGAPUNK DISCOVERED." Caesar tries to boast that "THAT VEGAPUNK IS REALLY AMAZING..." but is shouted down: "SHUT UP! LET'S SEE YOU IDIOTS TRY MAKING IT!!" and "MORONS THAT YOU ARE!!" Law moves to the next stage: "JOKER IS DONE FOR. NOW WE JUST HAVE TO MOVE ONTO OUR NEXT STEP." The factory is the target now: "SOMEWHERE IN DRESSROSA IS THE FACTORY WHERE THEY PRODUCE 'SMILE'S." Luffy understands the simple version: "SO WE SHOULD GO AND DESTROY IT, YEAH?" Law agrees but warns them not to underestimate the enemy: "THAT'S RIGHT... BUT OUR ENEMY IS A BUSINESS MASTERMIND... SO DON'T GET CARELESS." Kin'emon confirms his own reason to go there: "AND THAT'S ALSO WHERE YOU WANT TO GO, KIN?" "INDEED I DO!" Then he reveals the personal stake: "A COMRADE OF MINE...!! IS CAPTURED THERE!!"

Back on Punk Hazard, Doflamingo has Smoker pinned beneath him, ready to finish the Vice Admiral. A voice cuts through the snow with casual apology: "ARARA, SORRY ABOUT THIS, BRO." Kuzan appears behind him and says, "BUT I'M GONNA NEED YOU GET OFF OF HIM." Doflamingo recognizes the threat at once. The watching Marines panic, "PLEASE STOP!! SMO-YAN IS GONNA DIE!!" and "WITHOUT HIM..." They know what Smoker means to them: "THERE'D BE NO ONE TO UNIFY AND LEAD A BUNCH OF DUMB THUGS LIKE US!!" One of Doflamingo's allies warns with cold confidence, "DON'T WORRY, I'LL BE KILLING YOU ALL AS WELL!!" and admits, "THERE'S NO WAY OF TELLING HOW MUCH EACH OF YOU KNOW..." The threat spreads beyond Smoker: "AND THEN LAW, AND STRAWHAT TOO!!" and "I'LL FIND THEM BEFORE THIS DAY IS THROUGH!!!" Smoker coughs in pain, but Kuzan stands over him and repeats the order with quiet force: "...OFF OF MY FRIEND, THERE."
