ADVENTURE IN A MYSTERIOUS FOREST

A colorful splash page shows Monkey D. Aboard a ship approaching Whole Cake Island, a girl with light hair exclaims, "WOAH! WHAT IN THE WORLD IS THATI!" while gazing at a massive cake-shaped structure. She adds, "I CAN'T HELP BUT GET EXCITED EVERY TIME I SEE THIS GUY!" A speech bubble declares, "THE SOUTH-WESTERN COAST OF WHOLE CAKE ISLAND" and "COME ON, LET'S GO!" Another notes, "FINALLY, TIME HAS COME FOR THAT THING TO SHINE!" The scene shifts to the Shark Submerge III emerging from the water with a black flag marked with a 3. A voice states, "IT SEEMS I'LL REQUIRE BROOKS ASSISTANCE IN MY JOURNEY." Another adds, "MY APOLOGIES, LUFFY. THOUGH I WAS THE ONE WHO INITIATED THE TALKS ABOUT TAKING ON SEPARATE ASSIGNMENTS," followed by, "WE WILL WITHOUT A DOUBT SNATCH A COPY OF THAT PONEGLYPH!" On deck, Carrot warns, "DO NOT FORGET ABOUT THE MESSAGE PEKOMS LEFT FOR US!" while Pedro says, "LET US ALL STAY ON OUR TOES." Luffy grins and replies, "AFTER WE MEET UP WITH SANJI AND PUDDING, WE'LL JUST WAIT AROUND IN THIS GENERAL AREA!" Nami adds, "ALRIGHT BROOK AND PEDRO, WE'RE COUNTING ON YOU GUYS!" A wall message reads "TURN BACK." The Shark Submerge III dives deeper as the crew steers it along a river toward the castle where Big Mom resides, with Luffy shouting, "WELL THEN, OFF WE GO!"

The Thousand Sunny reaches the shore of a bizarre island. Luffy stands triumphantly on the figurehead, shouting with excitement, "SMELLS LIKE AN ADVENTURE TO ME!!" Someone replies, "NO. WAY." A small figure asks, "WE ARE A TAD LATE, THOUGH... ARE YOU SURE YOU REALLY SAW THEM, LUFFYI" Nami examines the ground and confirms, "YOU'RE RIGHT! THIS MUST BE ME-RINGUE! I WONDER IF THIS ENTIRE ISLAND IS ALSO MADE OUT OF SWEETS. DELICIOUS!" She adds, "NAMI, CHECK OUT THE GROUND. IT'S MADE OF HARDENED WHIPPED CREAM!" and "I'M POSITIVE! I SAW BOTH OF THEM CLEARLY FROM WHERE I WAS!" Carrot exclaims, "AAAAACK! I WANT TO MOVE HERE RIGHT NOW!!" while the group stares in awe at the sweet landscape.

Nami continues explaining while adjusting her hat, "...AND I KNOW YOU DON'T HAVE IT IN YOU TO LIE, LUFFY, BUT I HAVE NO IDEA WHY THEY WOULD UP AND VANISH AS SOON AS YOU SPOTTED THEM! THERE'S NO DOUBT THAT WE'RE INDEED ON THE SOUTHWESTERN COAST... AND WHEN I LOOKED AWAY FOR ONE SECOND AND LOOKED BACK, THEY WERE JUST GONE! RIGHT AROUND HERE! I SAW SANJI AND PUDDING STANDING RIGHT HERE." The crew reacts with surprise. Sanji appears in a panel looking serious as someone shouts "HEY!" A massive explosion erupts in the forest with "WOAH, WAIT!!" and "HMI!" Luffy suddenly yells "SANJI ~!!! OI!!!" while running ahead. Nami and Carrot react with shock, "HUHII" and "AH!!" as they chase after him through the trees.

The group searches frantically. Nami exclaims, "WE JUST SAW SANJI OVER THERE! IT'S LIKE HE'S PLAYING HIDE AND SEEK!!" Carrot shouts, "SERIOUSLYI!" while Luffy yells, "WHEREI! WHATI" and "HUHI! WHERE'D HE RUN OFF TO NOWI!" Nami looks around in confusion, "HUHI!...I!" The crew enters a strange, colorful candy forest filled with swirling trees, giant sweets, and candy-like structures. Nami calls out, "HE~Y! SAAAANJI~! COME OUUU~T!!" while thinking, "I LOVE HOW IT SMELLS HERE." Luffy declares, "IT'S A... FOREST OF CANDY!" and "WE'VE LOST SIGHT OF HIM! BUT WOW, EVERYTHING LOOKS SO DELICIOUS!" Someone notes, "IT MUST BE TRUE IF ALL THREE OF YOU SAW HIM!" A large sound effect "どーん!!" echoes as they stand amazed in the bizarre landscape.

Nami worries aloud, "I HONESTLY DON'T FEEL LIKE I'VE EVER HID ANYTHING FROM MY FRIENDS! I WONDER...IF HE FEELS ASHAMED ABOUT SOMETHINGI PLEASE TRUST ME ON THIS ONE! BUT WHY WOULD HE KEEP DISAPPEARINGI!" Luffy insists, "HOLD YOUR HORSES!!! I HAVE A REALLY BAD FEELING ABOUT THIS!!" The crew debates splitting up. Nami suggests, "THEN I'LL GO THIS WAY! THOSE JELLY BEANS ARE CALLING OUT TO ME!!" while Luffy points, "I'LL GO STRAIGHT AHEAD, IN THE DIRECTION OF THAT SWEET CARAMEL SCENT!" Carrot adds, "LET'S SPLIT UP AND LOOK FOR HIM! I'LL GO OVER THERE, WHERE THERE'S MORE CAKE!" Nami firmly replies, "...BUT WE HAVE TO STICK TOGETHER! NO ONE IS TO GO WANDERING OFF ON THEIR OWN, DO I MAKE MYSELF PERFECTLY CLEARI FINE!! I'LL LOOK FOR HIM WITH YOU GUYS..." She continues, "SAID THE GUY WHO LETS HIS BASE INSTINCTS LEAD HIM AROUND WITHOUT FEAR OF CONSEQUENCES... BUT I CAN'T SHAKE THIS FEELING, THAT ALL OF YOU ARE BEING DRIVEN BY SOME OTHER DESIRES IN ORDER TO CHOOSE YOUR PATHS!" Luffy wonders, "WHAT'S YOUR PROBLEMI WE'VE LOST SIGHT OF HIM, SO WE JUST HAVE TO LOOK FOR HIM BY FOLLOWING OUR GUT!"

The Straw Hats stand on a massive bridge made of sweets overlooking a bizarre landscape of candy trees and swirling patterns. Someone notes, "WE'RE CURRENTLY ON ENEMY TERRITORY! WE'LL CONTINUE TO LOOK AROUND FOR A BIT..." Another voice adds, "DOESN'T THAT SEEM STRANGE TO ANYONEI!" A third observes, "IF YOU LOOK CLOSELY, THIS ENTIRE PLACE IS FILLED WITH SWEETS!" Someone urges, "QUIT GETTING DISTRACTED!" while another exclaims, "THIS FLOWER IS ALSO MADE OUT OF CANDY!" A worried voice cries, "BUT IF WE CAN'T FIND SANJI SOON ENOUGH, WE'RE GOING TO IMMEDIATELY RETREAT AND RETURN TO OUR ORIGINAL SPOT!" Nami shouts in shock, "WHAAA~ TI!" The group continues forward until the bridge begins to tremble. Luffy yells, "WILL YOU GUYS CUT IT OUT BEFORE—" as the others notice details like the bridge being made of doughnut and the green river of melon juice. Suddenly the bridge structure opens into a gigantic, toothy maw. Everyone reacts with panic as the enormous jaws snap shut around them.

Luffy shouts urgently, "HURRY UP AND CROSS THE REST OF THE BRIDGE!!!" Chopper looks back in surprise, "EHI!" The bridge suddenly collapses in a massive explosion of debris and sweets. The group tumbles through the air amid flying rubble and candy fragments as someone yells, "CRAP!!!" Luffy and the others crash down into the forest below. Luffy growls, "NO NEED..." while Chopper asks, "LUFFY, SHOULD WE FIGHT ITI!" A massive crocodile-like creature emerges from the trees. Someone shouts, "IT'S A CROCODILE!"

The giant crocodile towers over the group, growling as Nami reacts with shock, "HUHI" Someone exclaims, "YOU'RE JUST HUMANS." Luffy glares and roars, "THAT IS SO NOT THE PROBLEM HERE!!! ARE YOU TRYING TO SAY WE'RE NOT GOOD ENOUGH TO EATI!" The crocodile replies with a dismissive gesture. The crew debates their next move. Nami suggests, "JUST LOOK!! WE'VE ALREADY LOST THE DIRECT PATH BACK TO OUR STARTING POINT!" Another says, "I REALLY THINK WE SHOULD JUST TRUST PUDDING AND WAIT NEAR THE COAST FOR NOW!!" Someone questions, "YOU SAY THAT BUT... IS THAT REALLY SOMETHING THAT SHOULD BE FREAKING YOU OUT AT THIS POINTI" Nami stares in disbelief, "AN ANIMAL, A CROCODILE NO LESS, DRESSED LIKE A HUMAN SPOKE TO US!!! IF THAT ISN'T THE DEFINITION OF WEIRD AND DANGEROUS I DON'T KNOW WHAT IS!!!" The crocodile stands with arms crossed while the crew stares up at it.

The crew stares in confusion at two identical figures. Someone mutters, "HMI" while others react with "HUHI HUHI HMI" Nami gasps, "HUHI" In the background a voice cries, "WHY ARE THERE TWO LUFFYS!!!" Another shouts, "WHAT THE...I!" Both Luffys turn with wide eyes and yell in unison, "HUHI!" The real Luffy and the duplicate face each other in shock. The duplicate Luffy leans forward and bellows, "WHO THE HELL ARE YOUI!"

A girl with short hair clutches her face in shock. "HUHI! WHAT'S THE MEANING OF THISI! WHICH ONE IS THE REAL LUFFYI!" she cries. "THEY'RE BOTH MAKING THE SAME EXACT MOVEMENTS AND SAYING THE SAME EXACT THING!!" Two identical Luffys clash in the center, one shouting, "DID YOU JUST ASK ME WHO I WASI! I'M LUFFY, YOU DUMBASS!!!" while the other yells, "QUIT COPYING ME!!!" Nearby, a top-hatted figure and a furry creature debate the scene. "WHO ARE YOUI!" one demands. "IT SERIOUSLY DOES LOOK LIKE HE'S JUST ACTING A FOOL IN FRONT OF A MIRROR!! WHAT IN THE WORLD..." Another notes, "THE ONE ON THE OTHER SIDE... IS A LUFFY THAT NONE OF US KNOW! THEY'RE SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT!! THE OTHER LUFFY IS LIKE A REFLECTION ON A MIRROR..." A voice calls out from below, "GUYS! I FOUND SANJI!! THERE HE IS AGAIN! OVER THERE, ON TOP OF THAT TREE!!!"

Sanji lies on the ground, startled as voices call down. "SANJI! WE CAME TO TAKE YOU BACK! WHERE'S PUDDINGI!" someone shouts. Another yells, "SANJII! WHAT ARE YOU DOING ALL THE WAY UP THEREI!" Luffy appears furious, "YOU'RE IN MY WAY!!!" while the mirror Luffy grins and says, "HEY, SAN...!!!" A loud slam echoes as Sanji dashes away. "HURRY UP AND GET OUT OF THE WAY!!!" Luffy roars, stretching an arm. "OH NO! HE'S RUNNING AWAY AGAIN!!" the girl screams. "SANJI!!!" Luffy calls after him.

The girl shouts desperately, "DON'T GO!! CHOPPER! CARROT!! THERE'S SOMETHING OFF ABOUT THIS PLACE!! THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING OF THE WEIRD STUFF TO COME, I'M SURE OF IT!" Luffy points ahead, "GO AFTER SANJI!!! DAMN IT... YOU GUYS, GO ON AHEAD!!" A massive creature bursts forth with a giant gatling attack, "GATLING!!!" Luffy counters with his own stretched fist, "GOMU GOMU NO..." The two Luffys stare in horror at the beast. "WHO... THE HELL ARE YOUI!" they both yell.

The group stares in terror at a colossal buried figure. "TH... GYA AAA AAH! EEEE EEEE EKK!" they scream. The giant creature, half-buried, bellows, "ARE YOU OKAYI! WHO DID THIS TO YOUI! YOU TOOK THE WORDS RIGHT OUTTA OUR MOUTHS! WOAH, YOU SCARED THE CRAP OUTTA ME~! THERE'S A HUGE PERSON BURIED ALIVE!!" A small rabbit-like figure and others react. "YOUR BODY! IT'S BURIED INTO THE GROUND!" one exclaims. The buried giant replies, "CHOPPER... NO POINT IN GETTING ALL WORKED UP ABOUT IT. I DON'T GIVE A DAMN! I COULD REALLY GO FOR SOME JUICE RIGHT ABOUT NOW. WHA... THIS GUY'S NUTS!! WHY DID I BOTHER TO WORRYI! I'M BURIED LIKE THIS BECAUSE I LIKE BEING BURIED~."

In the twisting forest, a voice offers help: "YOU ALL MUST BE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE! I BELIEVE HE JUST RAN PAST HERE A SHORT WHILE AGO. I'D BE HAPPY TO TELL YOU WHICH DIRECTION HE RAN OFF TO IF YOU COULD SIMPLY BRING ME BACK SOME APPLE JUICE." Nearby figures debate, "LET'S FOCUS OUR ENERGIES LOOKING FOR SANJI!!...I'M HONESTLY STARTING TO WONDER IF THIS IS ALL A BAD DREAM." "THAT PLACE IS ABSOLUTE HEAVEN" and "IF YOU GO AND TAKE A LEFT, YOU'LL FIND A WATERFALL OF APPLE JUICE. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE APPLE JUICE." A cloaked figure lunges with a massive weapon, shouting "NAMI, WATCH OUT!!!" as debris flies and Nami reacts in alarm. A small creature cries "WHAA... HUHI!" while another panel shows a massive impact and a terrified face screaming "GYAA AAAH HHHH!" with motion lines and shattered pieces scattering.

The group continues arguing while moving through the woods. "WE DON'T EVEN KNOW IF THAT'S THE REAL SANJI! IF IT WERE REALLY HIM......HE WOULDN'T JUST SIT IDLY BY AND WATCH US DEAL WITH THIS MESS!" "BUT WHAT ABOUT SANJII!" "LET'S HURRY BACK TO WHERE LUFFY IS! WHILE WE STILL KNOW HOW TO GET BACK!" "EVEN THE TREES TALK... AND THAT RABBIT WAS TOTALLY TRYING TO KILL ME." The forest itself comes alive with spinning compasses labeled "OUR WATCH!!" "OUR COMPASS..." and sound effects "ぐるん ぐるん" as the trees grin and sing "FLOWER~ FLOWER~" "TREE~ TREE~". A massive title declares "SOUTHWESTERN COAST OF WHOLE CAKE ISLAND THE SEDUCING WOODS". The living trees taunt "LET'S COVER UP THEIR EXIT♪" "LET US PLAY, LET US PLAY♪" "LET US PLAY A GAME OF DEATH♪" while one panel shows a skull on the ground and the chapter ends with "CH. 831 END" and a note that One Piece will be taking a break.
