TEARS

A Marine ship sails near shore as large sound effects “ブォオオオオオ” echo. Captain Nezumi laughs “CHICHI! I CAN’T STOP LAUGHING!” A speech bubble declares “A WHOPPING 93 MILLION BELI!” Inside the ship, corrupt Marines count stacks of money. One fishman-like officer says “CHICHI… MONEY IS MONEY.” while another notes some bills are “TATTERED AND STAINED WITH BLOOD AND MUD…”. Nezumi grins widely, declaring “HOW WONDERFUL! TO THINK WE CAN POCKET 30% OF THIS FOR OURSELVES…” and mocks “THAT NAIVE LITTLE GIRL SERIOUSLY BELIEVED SHE COULD BUY BACK HER FREEDOM. HOW STUPID COULD SHE BE! CHICHI!”

At Arlong Park, a massive impact sound “バキン” shakes the tower as someone shouts “SHAHA HAHA!” Nami stares in shock: “THE MARINES STOLE YOUR MONEY…I” Arlong looms over her, declaring “IF YOU CAN’T PAY ME 100 MILLION BELI, I CAN’T JUST RETURN YOUR VILLAGE BACK TO YOU. BUT A PROMISE IS A PROMISE. THAT’S QUITE UNFORTUNATE OF YOU.” In close-up, Arlong’s jaws gape wide as he roars “ALL YOU NEED TO DO IS SAVE UP THAT MUCH AGAIN!” while Nami trembles with tears, whispering “YOU VILE MONSTER…!”

Arlong leans in menacingly: “JUST KEEP IN MIND THAT IF YOU DO… I’LL HAVE EVERYONE IN COCOAYASHI VILLAGE KILLED BECAUSE OF YOU…” Nami sweats heavily as he adds “YOU’RE NOT GOING TO RUN AWAY, ARE YOUI” Flashbacks show villagers’ worried faces while narration reveals “WE KNEW ALL ALONG, NAMI… OUR HOPES WOULD PRESSURE YOU INTO STAYING IF YOU EVER WANTED TO RUN AWAY FROM IT ALL.” Nami suddenly stands up in panic, tears flying, as Arlong laughs “SHAHA HAHA!” and calls after her “WHAT’S WRONG, NAMII ARE YOU GOING TO RUN AWAYI” She runs with a determined yet anguished expression.

Arlong's face fills the panel as he roars with fury, "ARM YOURSELVES, FOR IT'S TIME TO FIGHT!" and "THAT DOES IT!" Below, villagers lie beaten on the ground. One cries out, "BECAUSE THAT'LL BE THE END OF EVERYTHING!" Another pleads, "YOU CAN'T DIE..." and "PLEASE DON'T BE RASH..." while a desperate voice calls, "GEN! EVERYONE! PLEASE...!" Nami, tears streaming down her face, shouts, "OTHERWISE IT'LL ALL BE OVER!" and "WE HAVE TO LIVE ON NO MATTER WHAT...!" The villagers erupt in a unified roar, "UOOOOOOHHH!"

Massive impact lines and dust clouds erupt across the village as buildings shake. Arlong glares with rage and declares, "BUT THIS IS HOW THEY ANSWERED US!" In the next panel he continues, "WE WOULD LIMIT OURSELVES TO A FIGHT OF ENDURANCE!" and "NO MATTER HOW PAINFUL IT MAY BE LIVING UNDER THEIR RULE, WE SWORE THAT AS LONG AS NAMI WAS FINE, 8 YEARS AGO, WE SWORE NOT TO THROW OUR LIVES AWAY!" A crowd of determined villagers stands ready in the square.

Arlong continues his furious speech: "BUT WE SHALL NEVER FORGIVE THOSE FISHMEN, WHO DARED TO TOY AROUND WITH THE KINDNESS OF THAT GIRL!" and "NOW THAT OUR ONLY CHANCE OF LIBERATION HAS BEEN DENIED, THERE IS NO LONGER ANY HOPE FOR THIS ISLAND!" The villagers respond with resolve: "EVERYONE IN THE WHOLE VILLAGE HAS ALWAYS BEEN PREPARED TO FIGHT!" "SO LET'S DO THIS!" "AS IF WE'D ACCEPT THEIR RULE NOW THAT THINGS HAVE COME TO THIS!" "OF COURSE NOT! NOW LET'S GO!" "ANY OBJECTIONSI" Nojiko watches with concern as someone shouts, "NAMI...!" and a voice calls, "WAIT, EVERYONE!"

Nami desperately pleads with outstretched arms, "PLEASE JUST WAIT A LITTLE MORE! I'LL TRY MY BEST SO PLEASE!" "I PROMISE I'LL RAISE ENOUGH MONEY ONCE MORE!" "IT'LL ACTUALLY BE EASIER THIS TIME!" while a small panel shows "NAMI-CHAN..." Arlong smirks from his throne, "HMPH, AS IF I'D JUST LET A CARTOGRAPHER AS TALENTED AS HER GET AWAY!" and "BUT EVEN SO, I'M NO DEMON." He adds with a cruel grin, "I'LL SET HER FREE ONCE SHE MAKES A MAP OF ALL THE WORLD'S OCEANS!" as his crew laughs wildly around him.

Genzo tightly embraces Nami as large Japanese SFX "がばっ!!" explode above them. He tells her, "...YOU'VE FOUGHT SPLENDIDLY...! I KNOW THAT WORKING WITH THEM MUST'VE BEEN MORE PAINFUL THAN A THOUSAND SEARING KNIVES." A voice adds, "THAT'S ENOUGH...! YOU KNOW THAT DOING SUCH A THING WOULD BE FUTILE. YOU'VE CARRIED ALL OUR HOPE ALONE FOR LONG ENOUGH." In the village, Genzo releases her and says, "THIS VILLAGE. YOU CAN NOW LEAVE." Nami's eyes widen in shock as someone gasps "WHAT!I" A close-up shows her tear-streaked face reacting to "YOU'VE FOUGHT WELL." Nojiko steps forward with a gentle smile, "BESIDES, YOU'VE GOT A DREAM TO FULFILL! YOU'RE CUNNING AND YOU'VE GOT WHAT IT TAKES TO SURVIVE OUT THERE!" Nami turns, whispering "NOJIKO..." as another voice calls "NAMI..."

Nami stands before the gathered villagers, arms outstretched, shouting desperately, "I DON'T WANT TO SEE THEM HURT ANY ONE OF YOU AGAIN! NO! PLEASE STOP, EVERYONE!" SFX "どっ!!" and impact lines mark the tension. A marine officer strikes her; she cries "AH!" while blocking with crossed arms. The officer growls, "WE KNOW." Nami glares back, sweat flying, "YOU'LL DIE, YOU KNOW!I" Villagers watch with grim faces. Someone calls her name, "NAMI." A man in a cap with a cross emblem declares, "OUR HEARTS ARE SET! IT'S NO USE." Nami's hand tightens around her dagger as blood drips from the blade, SFX "どく... どく..."

Arlong's massive face fills the panel, eyes blazing as he roars, "NOW MOVE OUT OF OUR WAY, NAMI!" SFX "ビクッ!!" Nami recoils in terror. Villagers raise weapons and charge forward, yelling "LET'S GO, EVERYONE! EVEN IF WE MAY NOT WIN, LET'S SHOW THEM OUR SPIRIT!" while SFX "ガクン ガクン オォオォ" and "RATTLE..." fill the air. In the foreground Nami clutches her face, tears streaming, whispering "ARLONG!" as Arlong laughs triumphantly, "SHAHA HAHA!"

Arlong's fist slams into Nami with brutal force, SFX "クシャッ!! クシャッ!!" as she screams "ARLONG! ARLONG!" Blood sprays. In the next panel Arlong raises his dagger high above Nami's head; she stares up in frozen horror. SFX "ガッ" and motion lines mark the strike. Suddenly Luffy appears in close-up, eyes wide with shock. Nami, bruised and bleeding, looks toward him and cries out, "LUFFY...!"

On a quiet village street, Luffy stands with his back to Nami, who kneels on the ground in tears. She shouts desperately, "YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW THE FIRST THING ABOUT ANYTHING! WHAT IS IT!I" Luffy replies flatly, "NOPE, I DON'T KNOW ANYTHING." Nami presses on, "DIDN'T I ALREADY TELL YOU, TO LEAVE THIS ISLAND!I" Luffy answers, "YEAH, YOU DID." A sudden kick sends Nami tumbling as Luffy declares, "THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH YOU...!" In the next scene, Nami sobs on the ground while Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji watch from nearby. Nami looks up and whispers brokenly, "LUFFY..."

Nami's face fills the frame, tears streaming down as she pleads, "HELP ME..." Below, Luffy stands in the street while Nami and the others react in shock. A massive splash erupts behind Luffy as he throws his head back. Zoro and Sanji watch tensely; Sanji adjusts his hat with a sharp motion while Luffy's expression hardens, sweat visible on his face.

Luffy's face erupts in a massive close-up, eyes blazing and mouth wide open as he roars with full force, "OF COURSE I WILL!" The panel explodes with impact lines and speed effects, Nami visible in the background still kneeling on the rooftop edge.

Nami stares with wide, tear-filled eyes and whispers, "LUFFY..." Luffy shouts angrily, "DON'T TOUCH MY HAT!" as Nami reaches toward him. In the wide street scene, Sanji stands tall with arms crossed while Zoro sits on the ground holding his head. Luffy faces them with a determined glare and declares, "LET'S GO."

Three close-up faces react sharply as a massive speech bubble declares "ROGER!" The left figure glares with "SHINS" sound, the center man exhales smoke labeled "BLOW" around his cigarette, and the right figure with goggles clicks a device marked "CLICK". Below, a tear-streaked close-up shows Nami's wide, horrified eyes and trembling hand clamped over her mouth as sweat and tears stream down her face. At the bottom of the page, the scene shifts to Arlong Park where several figures stand before the distinctive building. One man holding a staff pleads, "COULD YOU PLEASE MOVE OUT OF THE WAYI WE HAVE BUSINESS TO SETTLE WITH THOSE FISHMEN!" while another shouts, "HEY! ARE YOU TWO ALRIGHT!I WERE YOU DONE IN BY ARLONG!I"

Inside a ruined building, Johnny and Yosaku sit exhausted with crossed swords between them. Johnny explains, "AFTER HEARING OF NAMI'S TRUE MOTIVES WHILE IN THE FOREST, WE REALIZED WE HAD MADE A TERRIBLE MISTAKE. WE DON'T HAVE THE RIGHT TO FACE HER AGAIN." Yosaku adds, "WE CHALLENGED THEM IN ORDER TO MAKE UP FOR DOUBTING SISTER NAMI, BUT WE LOST JUST BY A HAIR...!" A tense panel shows a Marine captain sweating as he thinks, "WE'RE WAITING FOR A GROUP OF MEN THAT WILL UNDOUBTEDLY COME HERE SOON ENOUGH!" and reacts "WHAT!I" while a subordinate admits, "I'M SORRY BUT WE CAN'T LET YOU, WHO STAND NO CHANCE OF WINNING, THROUGH!" In the next scene the Marine captain rages, "THEY WEREN'T EVEN WORTH KILLING!" as he points at the defeated pair. Observers question, "ZORO'S CREWI NAH, COULDN'T BE. THEY WERE WAY TOO WEAK FOR THAT." and "HEY... YOU THINK THOSE TWO RUFFIANS JUST NOW, ARE PART OF ZORO'S CREWI" A final panel shows a group of Marines with one asking, "A GROUP OF MEN!I"

A massive impact erupts with swirling debris and motion lines as someone yells "BROTHER LUFFY!" In the next panel Monkey D. Luffy stares forward with intense eyes and clenched fist, asking "CALLED ARLONGI" and "WHO'S THE ONE," sweat flying. The bottom panel reveals a close-up of Arlong's furious, toothy face as he growls, "WHO'S THIS BRAT...I"
