Nightmare of Balgimoa

Narration boxes describe the ruins of the Shikkearu Kingdom and an ancient castle still towering over the fallen country on Kuraigana Island. A massive sword is embedded in the rubble. A man with a stitched face and wild hair screams "WAAAAH HHHHH!!!" while clutching his head as two small ghosts float nearby in shock. Speech bubbles read: "MORIA-SAMA, KILLED IN BATTLE!!" and "...THE HOME OF A CERTAIN MAN FOR THE PAST FEW YEARS." Inside a grand ruined hall, the same man lounges in a large ornate chair and retorts to the ghosts: "HOW CAN YOU POSSIBLY BE SO COLD WHEN I'M DROWNING IN SORROW HERE!! DON'T YOU HAVE THE DECENCY TO SAY SOMETHING NICE AND BRING ME A MUG OF HOT COCOAI!" One ghost replies "YES, BUT UNINVITED." Another states "YOUR WHINING IS A NUISANCE. IF YOU MUST, THEN DO IT ELSEWHERE." A voice from off-panel adds "YOU PEOPLE MERELY SEEM TO HAVE SETTLED IN HERE WHILST I WAS ABSENT."

Perona reacts with wide eyes and sweat drops, exclaiming "THEN... MORIA-SAMA MIGHT NOT HAVE BEEN KILLED IN BATTLEI!" The man in the chair questions "WHATI!" and notes "...BESIDES WHICH, THE AUTHENTICITY OF THAT ARTICLE'S INFORMATION IS QUESTIONABLE..." Perona continues: "I CANNOT SAY FOR CERTAIN THAT HE STILL LIVES... BUT I CAN TELL YOU THIS. IF MY MEMORY SERVES......THEN MORIA STILL LIVED WHEN LAST I SAW HIM ON THAT BATTLE-GROUND." The man sits in silence with "..." A close-up shows a stern man with a scar replying "WHO KNOWS." Perona cries out in distress: "WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO MORIA-SAMAI! HE DIDN'T DIE IN BATTLEI!...BUT THEN WHY WOULD THEY SAY HE DID IN THE ARTICLEI!" Impact effects "!!!" and motion lines emphasize the tension.

Explosive action erupts with sound effects "キィィ!! ギャァ!! ギャキィ!!" as Perona is sent flying backward with a scream "RAUGH!! RAUGH!!!" A small creature with a crown yells "RAU..." while another figure with spiky hair and a sword growls "ONI..." The man with the stitched face is hurled through debris with a pained cry "... Zoro stands amid rubble, glaring at the armed baboon-like creatures surrounding him. One massive baboon looms close, patting its own face while another licks its lips. "YOU THINK YOU CAN HEAL THAT WITH SPITI! WHERE DID YOU PICK UP A FOLK REMEDY LIKE THAT ANYWAYI!" a voice yells. Zoro pants heavily, sweat flying. "HAA HAA" he gasps. The baboons charge with weapons raised, roaring "RAUGH! RAUGH!" as debris scatters. Zoro grips his swords tightly, shouting "HOW AM I MEANT TO GET OUT TO SEA LIKE THISI!" while the creatures press the attack from all sides.

Far away, a cloaked figure stands atop castle ruins. "MUCH TIME HAS PASSED SINCE YOU LEFT MY CASTLE... ARE YOU STILL LOITERING IN A PLACE LIKE THIS, RORONOA...I" the voice calls. Zoro looks up sharply. "HAWKEYE...!!" he mutters. The figure continues, "SHADDUP!! I CAN JUST TREAT IT LIKE A PIECE OF WOOD, CLING ON TO IT AND SWIM!! IT WOULD APPEAR THAT THE BOAT I GAVE YOU WILL NO LONGER BE OF GREAT USE." Nearby baboons watch intently. One explains, "THEY ARE KNOWN AS HUMANDRILS; A TYPE OF INTELLIGENT BABOON THAT LEARNS THROUGH IMITATION OF HUMANS...CONCERN FOR A FRIEND IS ALL WELL AND GOOD... BUT THESE BEASTS ARE NOT TO BE UNDER-ESTIMATED." Zoro clenches his fist, replying "YOU'RE THE ONE WHO TOLD ME WHAT HAPPENED TO LUFFY!! HOW CAN I STAY PUT AFTER THATI!"

The baboon continues its tale amid the ruined battlefield. "...IN OTHER WORDS, THESE BABOONS GREW UP IMITATING THOSE VICIOUS HUMANS, LEARNED TO USE THEIR WEAPONS, AND BECAME WARRIORS OF THE FOREST. WHEN I FIRST DECIDED TO MAKE THIS PLACE MY HOME, IT WAS STILL THICK WITH THE STENCH OF BLOOD AND SMOKE, AND THE GROUND WAS PAVED WITH CORPSES. UNTIL JUST SEVEN YEARS AGO, THERE WAS A MIGHTY WAR RAGING UPON THIS LAND." Zoro surveys the destruction, breathing hard. The baboons ready their weapons as one declares, "YET TO THOSE BEASTS TOO THEY BECAME FRIGHTFULLY POWERFUL. THE PERFECT OPPONENTS, PERHAPS, FOR A CONCEITED YOUNG FOOL." Mihawk watches from the side. Zoro finally answers, "...I SEE. I AM GOING... TO SEA!!! I DON'T TAKE ORDERS FROM YOU!!" Mihawk replies calmly, "WELL, AS YOU WISH..."

On a floating sky island filled with weather instruments and balloons, a girl with long orange hair shouts desperately, "HAREDAS!! I NEED TO SEE HAREDAS-SAN!! I'LL GIVE YOU IT ALL BACK, OKAYI! LET ME OUT OF HERE!!" A sign reads, "THIS IS THE SKY ISLE OF WEATHERIA, A LAND OF WEATHER RESEARCH." Below, she is chased through the streets by a crowd. "YOU'RE NOT GETTING AWAY!! WHO KNOWS WHAT YOU MIGHT TRY TO DO NEXT!!" someone yells. "I'M NOT GOING TO TRY ANYTHING!!" she protests. The mob surrounds her, chanting "HEY, HEY!! HEY, HEY, HEY..." while she cries, "JUST LET ME OUT OF HERE, OKAYI!" An elderly man with a long nose appears, exclaiming, "AH! MR. HAREDAS!"

Nami desperately calls out while gripping a tightly knotted rope, "MR. HAREDAS!! MR. HAREDAS, PLEASE RESPOND!! I'M ASKING YOU TO HELP ME!! ARE YOU LOOKING FOR A BEATING!! I'M IN A HURRY!!" The old man with the massive beard replies from off-panel, "THIS TIGHTLY KNOTTED 'WIND KNOT'!! BUT WORRY NOT, I HAVE JUST THE THING!! PLEASE OBSERVE!!" as the knot begins to glow. Nami, looking guilty, admits, "I USED TO BE A THIEF, AND NOW I'M A PIRATE! IS IT THAT SURPRISING IF I STEAL A THING OR TWOI!" The furious scientists shout, "SHE'S TERRIBLE!!...TH... THIS IS A DISGRACE TO ALL HUMANITY!!" and "YOU DID WHATI! NOT ONLY DID YOU STEAL WEATHER BALLS FROM OUR WEATHER FIELDS, BUT YOU EVEN STOLE OUR RESEARCH NOTESI!" One scientist adds, "I HEAR YOU EVEN TRIED TO STEAL AN ATMO-SPHERE AND DESCEND TO THE BLUE SEA! NO AMATEUR CAN CONTROL ONE OF THOSE, YOU KNOW! YOU COULD HAVE DIED!" Nami, wearing her "moody" tank top, pleads, "I'VE GOT TO HURRY!! I GAVE YOU BACK EVERYTHING I STOLE, DIDN'T II! JUST LET ME OUT OF HERE, ALL RIGHT!! I'M BEGGING YOU!!" while the crowd watches and someone warns, "DO NOT GET TOO CLOSE. THIS GIRL IS DANGEROUS."

The old man Haredas weeps heavily, tears streaming down his face as he recalls, "...LUFFY HAS BEEN FIGHTING A TERRIBLE BATTLE ALL ON HIS OWN... WITH HIS ENTIRE CREW SEPARATED ACROSS THE SEAS... HE JOINED THE ULTIMATE WAR TO SAVE ACE..." Nami, also crying, responds, "OH ME, OH MY, WHAT IS THIS NOWI! YOU MEAN THE VERY SAME MAN WHO RAGED ACROSS THE BATTLEFIELD IN THE RECENT WAR, THE FAMOUS STRAW HAT ROOKIE...I!" Haredas continues, "HE LOST ACE, RIGHT IN FRONT OF HIS EYES... AND I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW ANY OF IT WAS HAPPENING!! LUFFY WILL COME TO OUR MEET-UP POINT, I KNOW IT!!" The scientists panic and yell, "BRING THE KEY!! THE KEY!! COME, LET US GET YOU OUT OF THERE AT ONCE, LITTLE GIRL-" while Nami screams in pain, "AHHHHH!! AHHH!! AHHHHH!! HEY, HEY, LITTLE GIRLIE!!" as the group tries to free her from the collapsing structure amid crashing debris and impact sounds.

Nami waves cheerfully while riding the wind knot upward, shouting "THANKS, GUYS!! BYE NOW!!" as the scientists below react in shock, "WHEN DID SHE...I! WHA-I!" and "WHA-I!" with a large "はっ!!" sound effect. One scientist yells, "I DON'T CARE WHERE, YOU JUST HAVE TO GET ME DOWN TO THE SEA BELOW!!" while another demands, "AFTER HER!! THE SKY SCIENCE OF WEATHERIA MUST NEVER LEAVE THIS ISLAND!!" The group stares in disbelief, exclaiming "NOT ONLY DOES SHE SHED FALSE TEARS, SHE RUNS FOR IT WITH BOTH MR. HAREDAS AS A HOSTAGE AND ALL THE ITEMS SHE STOLEI!" and "WHAAA AAAAAAI! WHAT IS THIS!" Nami activates her power with "OUTRA-GEOUS!!" creating swirling wind effects. The scientists shout "AAA AGHHH HHH!! SHUT UP!!" and "AH, YOUNG GIRLIE... YOUR FALSE TEARS SEEM TO HAVE RESURFACED..." as Nami's voice echoes, "EVEN THOUGH IT'S TIMES LIKE THIS WHEN YOU NEED US MOST OF ALL...!! SIMPLY OUTRA-GEOUS!! LUFFY... YOU'RE OKAY, AREN'T YOUI! I'M SORRY!! EVEN THOUGH YOU'RE ALWAYS THERE TO SUPPORT US..."

An alarm blares across a snowy, mountainous winter island labeled "FUTURE COUNTRY OF BALGIMOA, A WINTER ISLAND" as signs warn "INTRUDER IN DR. VEGAPUNK'S RESEARCH LABORATORY!!" and "INTRUDER ALERT!!" A massive explosion erupts from the lab. Inside, a tall man with an afro and scar shouts "NGH...!!" while a subordinate warns, "THERE ARE MARINES HERE!!" and another orders, "WAIT!! DO NOT FIRE YOUR WEAPONS INSIDE THE LAB! THE ITEMS INSIDE SHOULD BE CONSIDERED NATIONAL TREASURES!!" A stern close-up shows a glaring man with a scar over his left eye as voices declare, "THAT'S RIGHT. THESE DAYS, HE IS THE LEADER OF THE MARINE SCIENTISTS... VEGAPUNK IS THE PRIDE OF OUR COUNTRY! IN FACT... HIS INTELLECT IS A TREASURE OF ALL HUMANITY!!" and "TREASUREI WHAT, THAT LABI" The same man growls, "NO... I CAN'T. I MUSTN'T GO AROUND SHOOTING." while a marine cries out "HAAAH... HAAAH!!" amid the chaos in the Vegapunk facility.

A stern man with spiky white hair glares as he explains the massive project. "A ground heating system powerful enough to warm this whole island!" he declares. Nearby figures examine the snowy mountain. "He even converted the beasts of the forest into a labour force to bring it this far... but it is still incomplete," one notes. Another asks, "...Just what is that thing...I" The man continues, "Take a look at that mountain. It has an unusual shape, yes...I In truth... it was created by that man in his youth, out of concern for the people of this country, ever suffering in this freezing climate!" The group reacts with awe. "That's super moving!!" one exclaims. Others recall the creator sobbing over his inability to help, noting the plans were perfect in his mind though he lacked funding and technology. The spiky-haired man suddenly reacts in shock: "I have my own problems to deal with!! I just heard on the news that my captain has been through a terrible ordeal!! Even so, I can't do as you say. That lab is the only place I'll find an icebreaker ship to get me off this island, rightI!" A voice warns, "...Then please, do not set foot ever again in that research-laboratory-with-its-own-self-destruct-switch. We are always awaiting his safe return. If you understand that..." The man snaps back, "Uh, did you just casually mention the most unwanted switch in the whole worldI!"

The spiky-haired man erupts in fury. "Like hell I would!! Why did anyone even put a self-destruct switch in thereI!" He lunges forward as a massive explosion erupts behind him, black smoke and fire engulfing the snowy landscape. "Anything but the self-destruct switch!!!" "Wait!! You must make sure not to press it!!!" The blast is labeled the "Nightmare of Balgimoa," the infamous future country incident. In the ruined lab, figures discuss the blueprints: "There are blueprints in here that won't actually be feasible to build for two or three hundred years..." "As an engineer, I can sure see why people wouldn't want anyone laying a finger on this place..." "This stuff is super impressive..." An alarm sounds as an intruder is spotted. "An intruder in the lab!...This is terrible!" "If you happen to damage anything in the genius' house while pursuing the criminal... you will be held responsible!!" The spiky-haired man grins wildly amid the chaos, "If by some crazy chance I did accidentally push that switch..." A massive "あぁぁぁぁ" scream echoes as the scene erupts in panic.

On a distant island, a crowd cheers before a grand building. "Demon King Satan-sama!!" they shout. "Thank you so very much!!" A sign reads, "And this is Namakura Island. Here in Harabakettania, land of poverty..." Inside a prison-like area, a skeleton in a top hat plays music. "...We were filled with courage and the will to fight, and finally took up weapons and fought for ourselves! For some reason when we heard the music that you composed and played... Yohohoho! To think that the day would come when we would see those filthy Tenaga thieves behind bars!!" The skeleton replies, "Yohohoho! It is all because you fought for yourselves!" A woman adds, "All I really did was lend a hand!" The skeleton continues, "But still, we were able to recover all those weapons that were stolen from us, safe and sound...! Naturally, the results were terrible and in the end... it was you who actually defeated the enemy..."

The skeleton in the top hat addresses the cheering crowd outside the building. "And since we live in difficult times... though it is none of my business, I do hope that after I have left......you all find the strength to stand up to any future hardships by yourselves... Neither god nor the devil can give aid to those without the will to fight..." The crowd erupts, "Thank you so much, Satan-sama!!" "Thank you so much!!" One man declares, "...!! Ah, such confession! I feel that we will be able to change from now on!!" Another adds, "I suppose I have now paid my debt..." Inside the cells, prisoners react in horror as the skeleton speaks: "If we could've taken those strange humans with only one joint in their arms back to the motherland to display to the public, we would have made so much cash...!! Ughhh... to think that they had the devil on their side...!!" A voice narrates, "Now then... this is a most disturbing article indeed... Luffy-san, I do hope you are all right... when I think of the pain you must be experiencing... I feel that my heart might break... even though... I do not have a heart!! Luffy-san!! Let us sing together once more!! I set forth at once, to heal your aching soul!!"

A man in a large hat shouts in shock, "WHATI!! YOU WANT US TO FREE THEMI!! BUT IF WE DO THAT, THEY MIGHT...!" Another figure urges, "HOLD IT, HOLD IT!! WAIT ONE MOMENT, EVERYONE!! WOULDN'T THAT MAKE YOU PEOPLE NO BETTER THAN THEM IN THE FIRST PLACEI!!" A third declares, "AND NOW THAT WE'VE CAPTURED THIS STRANGE TRIBE WITH TWO JOINTS IN THEIR ARMS... WE CAN MAKE A FORTUNE SHOWING THEM OFF TO THE PUBLIC!!" The skeletal figure looms with a demonic aura, roaring, "...AND CONSUME YOUR HEARTS!!!" as victims scream "AAAA GHHHHH HHH!!!" The skeleton warns, "NOW, LISTEN WELL... IF YOU EVER BREAK THIS PACT AND BEGIN YOUR EVILDOING IN THIS LAND AGAIN... THEN I WILL RETURN..." while a voice reassures, "WORRY NOT... I HAVE FORMED A DEVIL'S PACT WITH THESE CROOKS..." The skeleton concludes with "YOHOHO!! WELL, THAT PUTS AN END TO THAT...!" The freed tribe begs, "PLEASE FORGIVE US!!! WE'LL NEVER GO ANYWHERE NEAR THIS COUNTRY AGAIN!!!" and "WE'RE SO SORRY!!! THANK YOU FOR RELEASING US...!!! WE'LL GO BACK TO OUR HOMELAND AT ONCE!!!"

The spiky-haired man grabs the skeletal figure midair amid massive impact effects "ビリビリビリ" and "ドゴォ", yelling "WHAAAA AAAAAAI!I BUT WHYI WHAT ON EARTH IS HAPPENING HEREII!!" and "GRAB 'IM!!!" Onlookers cry "SATAN-SAMA HAS BEEN CAPTURED!! EVERYONE!!" and "...WE CAN MAKE A FORTUNE!!!" A voice calls "WAIT A MOMENT!" while another shouts "IF WE BRING A MYSTERIOUS PILE OF MOVING BONES LIKE THIS BACK TO THE MOTHERLAND..." The skeleton retorts "OHI!! WE DON'T BELIEVE IN DEMONS, STUPID!" and "YOU'RE PRETTY TOUGH, BUT IF WE TIE YOU UP, YOU CAN'T DO A THING!!" A desperate cry rings out "LUFFY-SAN... HELP MEEEEE!!" as the skeleton's face fills with tears.
