Adventure on Long Island

A massive splash page shows the Straw Hats rocking out on their ship as it rides a gigantic rainbow wave. Luffy leaps high with cymbals, mouth wide open in song. Zoro plays guitar, Sanji blasts a trumpet, Nami plays piano, Robin plays violin, Chopper strums a harp, and Usopp wields a stringed instrument. Colorful sea dragons and fish leap through the rainbow spray around them. The page header reads "ONEPIECE" with the lyric "The colors of the rainbow so pretty in the sky." Bubbles and splashes surround the chaotic, joyful musical performance atop the towering wave.

The crew watches the distant island from the shore. Nami says, "Stunning... They were so friendly too." Sanji replies, "Yeah..." Someone notes, "...That was one hell of a sight. The legendary... Rainbow Eel Brothers." Suddenly Nami panics, shouting "OH NO YOU DON'T!" as the group reacts with alarm. Usopp yells, "Alriiight! Let's call them one more time!" while holding up a fish. Chopper asks, "Are they tastyI" and confirms, "Yes, I'm sure." The others debate how many pieces to cut the fish into. A banner reads "Straw-Hats Theatre" with Luffy grumbling, "GIMME A BREAK!" followed by "fin."

On deck, someone questions, "No, there's..." while another panics, "Now of all times!I" A voice demands, "WHAT ARE THEY ENEMIES!I" The Going Merry sails forward with its distinctive shark figurehead as the crew scans the horizon. A distant ship appears with no flag or sail visible. Crew members note, "For some strange reason... There are hardly any crew members on board!" and "I have no idea what kind of ship it is..." Another adds, "There's no flag nor sail!" Luffy stares in shock from the foreground, exclaiming, "What are they even out on the seas for then!I What kinda ship doesn't have a flag or any sails!I"

Inside the ship, the crew lies around listlessly. A voice declares, "I CAN'T EVEN DETECT A FAINT WILL TO LIVE!" and "AND THEY ALL LOOK SUPER DEPRESSED!" Outside, massive waves crash as the distant ship struggles. Someone worries, "They're going to be swallowed by the waves at this rate!" Another asks, "Is that ship gonna be alright!I" and "What's going on!I" On deck, a crew member spots the approaching vessel and yells, "HEY... IT'S A SHIP..." while another reacts, "AH..." A third shouts, "A PIRATE SHIP!" From the Merry's deck, a voice calls out, "HEEEYYY! THERE'S A HUGE WAVE AND SOME MONKEYS HEADED YOUR WAY, Y'KNOW!" as the shark-headed ship surges forward with sea monkeys visible in the water.

Chaos erupts on the enemy ship as the massive wave looms. Voices shout, "WHY DON'T YOU DO IT!I" "Hey, who d'ya think you're orderin' around!I" "MAN THE CANNONS!" "But that ship's gonna get away then!" "NO, WAIT! THERE'S A HUGE WAVE COMING! WE GOTTA AVOID IT FIRST!" "COME ON, SCALLYWAGS! UP ON YOUR FEET! IT'S AN ENEMY SHIP! LET'S GO STEAL THEIR TREASURE!" and "GRAB THE HELM!" Someone retorts, "HEY, DON'T JUST DO WHATEVER YOU WANT!" The disorganized crew argues, "WE DON'T HAVE ONE!" "SOMEONE GIVE ORDERS!" "HOW SHOULD I KNOWI" "Where's the helm!I" "We don't have a navigator!" "THEN THE CAPTAIN!" "WE DON'T HAVE ONE!" Luffy watches in disbelief from the Merry, sweatdropping as the enemy fires a cannon with a loud "BOOM!" and panics, "ARE YOU KIDDING ME!I WE CAN'T EVEN AVOID ONE WAVE!I" "WELL SO ARE YOU!" "Damnit, you're all useless!" "Hey! Who's the one that fired the cannon!I" "IT'S TOO LATE! WE'RE GONNA BE SWALLOWED!"

The massive wave crashes violently over the enemy ship, sending it tumbling amid huge impact effects and debris. Sea monkeys leap through the spray with cries of "KEE! KEE!" and frantic sound effects. The scene calms as the Straw Hats' ship sails into smoother waters. Robin notes, "I think we may have already entered the climate region of the next island." Nami adds, "Both the temperature and humidity have stabilized for a while." Someone observes, "Actually, the wave just now was due to the sea monkeys." Luffy sighs in relief, "Whew... Things calmed down at last..." From the deck, a voice calls, "Hey Robin, can you see somethingI"

On the deck of the Going Merry, Usopp yells wildly, "ISLAAANNNDO AHOOOYYY, SCALLYWAGS! YAHOO!" while waving his arms. Nami glares and snaps, "Listen here, you gloomy woman! When you spot an island, you yell like so: Now you try saying it." Someone replies, "There's quite a thick fog." In the next panel, a panicked crew member sweats heavily and shouts, "TELL US THAT EARLIER!" as another voice answers, "Yes, I've been seeing an island for a while now." Luffy, sweating, asks, "By the way... Aren't you guys concerned about the ship earlierI" Usopp reassures, "Sorry, I'll be more careful next time." Nami confirms, "Do you have any idea how much we look forward to the next island." Chopper replies, "Sure thing!" while Nami adds, "FogI That can be dangerous. Chopper, can I trust you to keep a close eye ahead of the bow." Usopp wonders, "Oh you willI Well then that's good." At the bottom of the page, Sanji and Usopp analyze the wrecked ship they passed, noting it had no captain, navigator, sails, flag, motivation, or coordination, concluding the crew must have lost a battle and lacked essential pirate qualifications.

Luffy stands listening as Usopp continues, "Then they must not be pirates... Don't sweat it." Usopp adds, "And yet there weren't any of the essential items or crew needed for a pirate crew on that ship!" and "There wasn't a single sign that they'd been in a fierce battle!" Nami concludes, "No, that's the thing! I took a close look at their ship." The crew spots the island ahead. Nami asks, "Is there a town on the island!I It'd be great if there's a dockyard!" Luffy is told, "Luffy, you can't just disembark carelessly as soon as we get there!" Usopp notes, "So it's the same as always." Nami feels uneasy, "I'm getting a baaad feeling..." Usopp stares in shock, "Mr... They definitely looked like pirates though..." The island comes into view with tall grass plains. Someone announces, "The island's becoming visible!" Chopper panics in Usopp's voice, "Chopper, looks like Usopp's 'Can't-land-on-island-itis' is acting up again." Usopp cries, "UGH... GUYS, LISTEN TO ME... I can't cure that. NGHH..." Luffy excitedly points, "I see the shore! Get ready to lower the anchor! Right." Chopper wonders, "I wonder if a good shipwright will join us...I"

A massive sound effect erupts across the page as the crew stares in shock at the vast, empty grassy plains stretching to the horizon. Luffy yells, "THERE'S NOTHING!" The island is revealed as endless flat plains with only tall thin trees. Nami questions, "It's empty plains in every direction. What kind of dangers could there beI" Sanji wonders, "Jeez... How can they just go out recklessly onto an island we don't know anything aboutI" The ship crashes into the shallows with a huge impact. Luffy cheers, "WOOHOO! IT'S A HUGE GRASS PLAIN!" while someone shouts "HEY!" Nami observes calmly, "I wonder if any humans live on this island..." Zoro sighs, "Sigh... What a boring-looking place." Luffy reacts with alarm, "WHAT IS THIS PLACE!I WHOAAA! IT'S JUST PLAINS AS FAR AS I CAN SEE...!"

Luffy, Usopp, and Chopper stare in shock from the ship. Luffy exclaims, "Huh...!I What is it, Cho- WHOAA!" A giant bear suddenly looms over them on the plains with massive sound effects. Chopper yells, "What!I" while the bear towers above Luffy and Usopp. The bear looms with heavy footsteps. Luffy spots an apple and shouts, "Hey, look! This is an apple! But slim... DON'T EAT IT! Delish!" Usopp warns, "Even the trees here are super lanky." The giant bear stares down as the crew reacts in panic. Usopp screams, "I-It's so long! The bear is looming!" Luffy shouts, "That's a bear!" Someone yells, "Don't be stupid! How could there be such a furry human!I" Chopper questions, "A humanI"

Luffy stares in wide-eyed shock with mouth agape as the crew scans the grassy plain dotted with tall thin trees. "I wonder if there are any shipwrightsI" "Is there someone living hereI" "You're right!" Usopp points excitedly toward the distance. "Guys, look! Isn't that a houseI" Chopper turns with a curious "HmI" Suddenly a massive long-necked creature with antler-like horns lumbers into view, its body stretching across the landscape as the Straw Hats watch in surprise. The creature's head swings high while smaller figures stand below. In the next scene a sleek white long-bodied creature glides low over the grass with wings spread, followed by a small white dog-like animal with floppy ears that barks "すた すた すた" as it trots forward. Luffy, now wearing a tall black top hat marked with an X, watches the scene unfold with a neutral expression.

The crew reaches a large round building with ornate patterns and a cross-like symbol above the door. Luffy bursts through the entrance shouting "W-WHAT'RE YOU JUST BARGING IN FOR!I" while Usopp yells "HELLO THERE! PARDON US, COMING THROUGH!" Inside, Chopper calls out "HEEYYY! LUFFY! USOPP!" as Luffy reacts with "ChopperI" Usopp declares "There's no one here... I'm sure he's some sort of devilish, super long snake-man!" and warns "WAIT WAIT WAIT! This must be the lair of this island's boss!" Outside, Chopper examines a tall creature and asks "Are you a horseI" The animal neighs "NEISSHH..." while someone notes "A long white horse. It's not a giraffe... Its neck is long, but it's a white horse." Another voice cries "It's a giraffe!" as the creature stretches its neck high above the building.

Chopper stands beside the towering white horse, announcing "She says her name is Sherry. She's a girl. If she has a saddle, there must be someone here." Luffy and Usopp gaze up at the massive animal in awe, with Luffy exclaiming "What a pretty horse!" The group then notices a tall bamboo stalk in the distance. Usopp remarks "Yeah..." while Nami asks "Usopp... What's wrong, LuffyI" Luffy points and says "You see that bamboo tree growing there." Usopp stares upward and mutters "Whoa... I can't even see the top! How tall is this treeI" as the bamboo sways high into the clouds.

The bamboo suddenly whips away with a loud "WHII" sound, leaving Luffy and Usopp staring in shock. "AGHH! IT RAN AWAY!" Luffy yells "WHA!I" as they chase after it. The stalk bends and strikes violently; Luffy is slammed into the ground with "GOF!" and cries "Aghh! The bamboo attacked Luffy!" Chopper shouts "Are you alright!I" while Luffy groans "NO!!" Luffy stretches his arm and declares "GOMU GOMU NO..." launching a rubbery whip attack with "WHIP!" as he yells "AS IF I'D LOSE TO A TREE!" Usopp warns "WATCH OUT, LUFFY!" amid the chaotic impacts and motion lines.

High above the ground a lone figure swings from a tall bamboo stalk. With a powerful kick the stalk snaps. The black-clad fighter lands in a crouch as the broken pole crashes down. "HA! BROKE YOU LIKE A TWIG!" someone shouts with a large "SNAP!" sound effect. Nearby voices cheer, "YOU BEAT IT! WAY TO GO!" In smaller panels below, a horse stands calmly while a small round creature in a tall hat looks up and says, "You look lonely..." Another replies, "...You don't knowI" A larger animal asks, "Where is your masterI" The horse answers with a long "NEESIGH..."

A massive explosion erupts with the huge sound effect "ドッカーン!!!" A giraffe rears back in shock. Luffy stares in wide-eyed surprise and asks, "What happenedI!" He begins, "Well, I..." while small figures run in the background. The round creature in the hat warns, "IT MIGHT BE AN ENEMY! YOU JUST STAY THERE AND HIDE!" with "NEIGH" sounds nearby. In a close-up an old man with a long beard recounts, "And out came a spirit.*" He continues, "I split a bamboo tree in half," breathing heavily "HUFF... HUFF..." as a large "ドーン!!" impact effect shakes the panel. *refers to Tale of the Bamboo Cutter

The Straw Hats react with concern. Nami wonders, "What're they planning...I" Sanji growls, "If you want a fight, then come down here and get some!" Robin stays silent while Zoro demands, "Who the hell are you!I" Below, a chained sea fortress rises from the water as a giant hand slams down, roaring "COME DOWN THIS INSTANT! I'LL TAKE ANY OF YOU ON!" The word "Confined!" appears over the structure. The massive Foxy Pirates ship looms into view with its grinning fox-jolly-roger sail. A voice declares, "WE ARE THE FOXY PIRATES." Another warns, "DON'T GET HASTY. WHAT WE SEEK... IS A MATCH."
