Log Pose

A massive circular emblem dominates the upper panel, resembling a cracked skull-and-crossbones with a stitched eye patch and wide grin, surrounded by impact lines and the sound effect “BUOO HH”. At the base of Reverse Mountain, the massive whale Laboon floats in the water with cracks across its head. A voice from the crew calls out, "BY THE TIME WE COME BACK, YOU HEARI" Another adds, "SO DON'T YOU BASH YOUR HEAD AGAINST THE WALL AND MAKE IT DISAPPEAR." Laboon responds with a deep "BUOO HHH." Luffy grins widely and shouts "GOOD!" Beside him, Crocus watches silently with a line of dots indicating his thoughts. On the deck of the Going Merry, chaos erupts as the crew works on repairs. Sanji, covered in bumps and bruises, yells while swinging a mallet, "HEY, I COULD USE A LITTLE HELP OVER HERE, ZORO!" and "HOW COULD THAT IDIOT TROUT IS JUST DESTROY OUR SHIP!" Zoro lies nearby with "ZZZZ" above his head. In the next panel, Sanji admires a large fish and declares, "THIS ELEPHANT TROUT IS JUST PERFECT FOR COOKING!" while impact sounds like "ドドン カン ドン" and "カッチ」 ring out. Usopp protests from the background, "I AIN'T NO SHIPWRIGHT, YOU KNOW." On the right, Nami stands at the railing and says, "ALRIGHT THEN, TIME TO CHART OUT OUR NAVIGATION ROUTE."

Laboon suddenly leaps high into the air with a massive splash, roaring "AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" as the crew watches in shock from the ship near the lighthouse. On deck, Usopp snores with "ZZZZ" while lying against barrels. Sanji turns to Nami and offers, "UGH... I'LL TAKE A BRIEF BREAK FROM THE SHIP REPAIRS AND EAT." Nami, standing with her back to the viewer, asks, "IF IT'S ABOUT THE MEAL, THEN IT'S ALL READY!" Sanji replies with a heart, "WHAT'S THE MATTER, MY DEAR NAMI!I" Luffy, holding a telescope, questions, "WHATI YOU'RE BEING SO NOISY." In the final panel, Crocus stares in alarm at a wooden Log Pose compass spinning wildly. He exclaims, "IT'S BROKEN! IT'S POINTING ALL OVER THE PLACE!" and "THE COMPASS...!" as the needle whirls with sound effects "ぐる ぐる ぐる" and a large "ぐるーん."

At the lighthouse on Reverse Mountain, Crocus stands before the Straw Hats and declares, "I'VE SAID BEFORE THAT COMMON SENSE FAILS TO UPHOLD IN THIS OCEAN. THAT COMPASS ISN'T BROKEN." The group sits around a table as Crocus continues, "IN YOUR CASE, IT'S TIME FOR FEEDING. AH, TIME FOR FOODI" He adds, "HMM.. IT APPEARS YOU'VE COME HERE WITHOUT KNOWING ANYTHING. I'M QUITE AMAZED. DID YOU COME HERE TO JUST THROW YOUR LIVES AWAYI" A large compass rose labeled N, S, E, W dominates the next panel. Crocus explains, "DUE TO MANY ISLANDS HERE BEING RICH WITH VARIOUS MINERALS. YES... THERE EXISTS A GEOMAGNETIC ANOMALY ACROSS GRAND LINE," while Nami sweats and realizes, "THEN IS IT... THE MAGNETIC FIELD!I" Crocus warns, "IF YOU VENTURE OUT INTO THIS OCEAN WITHOUT KNOWING ANYTHING, YOU'LL DIE FOR SURE. NOT ONLY THAT, THE CURRENTS AND THE WINDS HERE ARE AS UNPREDICTABLE AS THEY CAN BE." Luffy, wearing his straw hat, listens as Crocus tells Nami, "AS A NAVIGATOR, YOU SHOULD WELL UNDERSTAND HOW TERRIFYING THAT CAN BE." Nami replies, "TRUE... WITHOUT A RELIABLE WAY TO TELL ONE'S DIRECTIONS, IT'S ALL HOPELESS."

Luffy devours a massive piece of meat, shouting, "THIS ELEPHANT TROUT TRUNK IS ESPECIALLY DELICIOUS!" while Sanji yells, "YOU TWO JUST QUIET DOWN!" Nami reacts with surprise as Usopp and others comment, "HUHI JUST WHAT ABOUT THIS FISH IS BADI" and "AH, NAMI'S SO CUTE EVEN WHEN SHE DOESN'T KNOW!" Someone adds, "WHAT!I ISN'T THAT LIKE REALLY REALLY BADI ARE WE GONNA BE OK!I" and "I... HAD NO IDEA." with sound effect "ガーン". In the wide landscape shot, Crocus points toward the horizon and states, "A LOG POSEI I'VE NEVER HEARD OF IT. TO NAVIGATE THROUGH GRAND LINE, YOU'LL NEED A LOG POSE." Nami, Luffy, and the others gather around the table again. Crocus confirms, "YES, THAT'S IT. YOU MEAN SOMETHING LIKE THISI" as he holds up the strange device. Nami examines it and says, "SO IT'S A WEIRD-LOOKING COMPASSI WELL, IT IS RATHER ODDLY SHAPED AS WELL." Crocus finishes, "IT'S A SPECIAL TYPE OF COMPASS THAT RECORDS THE MAGNETIC FIELD."

Nami stares in shock at the strange compass-like device, shouting "WHY THE HECK DO YOU HAVE ONE!I" The older man with glasses explains calmly, "I SEE, BUT HANG ON JUST A SECOND... OF COURSE, IT IS QUITE HARD TO OBTAIN ONE OUTSIDE GRAND LINE. WITHOUT A LOG POSE, IT'D BE IMPOSSIBLE TO NAVIGATE ON THIS OCEAN." In the background, Usopp, Sanji, Zoro, and Luffy gather around a table as the explanation continues. Nami examines the Log Pose closely, noting "SO THIS IS A LOG POSE... THERE'S NO MARKING ON IT OR ANYTHING..." Luffy sits nearby and asks about the two strangers from earlier. Nami replies that she hit him because "JUST FELT I HAD TO." The man adds that the pair "ACCIDENTALLY LEFT IT ON OUR SHIP." He then points to a map of scattered islands and states, "SO IN SHORT, YOU'LL HAVE TO RECORD THE MAGNETIC FIELD INTERACTION BETWEEN ANY TWO ISLANDS, BEFORE YOU CAN PROGRESS ON TO THE NEXT ISLAND. THE VARIOUS ISLANDS ACROSS GRAND LINE, ALL HAVE THEIR OWN MAGNETIC FIELDS SURROUNDING THEM."

Crocus continues his explanation with a large diagram of the Red Line. "BUT NO MATTER WHICH ISLAND YOU START WITH, THE PATHS WILL ALL CONVERGE INTO ONE EVENTUALLY... AND THE NAME OF THE VERY LAST ISLAND ONE CAN REACH IN GRAND LINE IS..." He gestures at the map, noting that in this ocean where normal navigation fails, "THIS LOG POSE REPRESENTS THE ONLY RELIABLE WAY FOR ONE TO FIND HIS WAY. FROM THIS MOUNTAIN, YOU'LL CHOOSE 1 OUT OF 7 MAGNETIC FIELDS TO RECORD, WHICH'LL LEAD YOU TO DIFFERENT ISLANDS." The scene shifts to a dramatic view of a legendary island. Crocus declares, "THE ONLY ONES WHO'VE EVER CONFIRMED ITS EXISTENCE IN HISTORY IS THE PIRATE KING AND HIS CREW. IT IS AN ISLAND OF LEGENDS." Large text labels the island: "RAFTEL, THE FINAL STOP IN GRAND LINE."

Usopp stares upward with wide eyes and an open mouth, shouting in shock, "ONE PIECE IS ON THAT ISLAND!I" A second balloon continues, "THEN DOES THAT MEAN..." In the next wide panel the Straw Hats sit around a round table on a rocky shore under a cloudy sky. Sanji, Zoro, Nami, and Vivi listen while a narration box states, "ALTHOUGH THAT IS THE MOST LIKELY THEORY, NOBODY HAS EVER REACHED THERE TO CONFIRM IT." Someone replies simply, "WHO KNOWS." Luffy leans forward in close-up, straw hat tilted, eyes sparkling with excitement as he declares, "WE CAN SEE FOR OURSELVES ONCE WE'RE THERE!" He adds with a wide grin, "ENOUGH THINKING," while gripping a large piece of meat on a bone.

Nami smiles confidently at the table and says, "ALRIGHT, LOG POSE... I'LL MAKE SURE TO TAKE GOOD CARE OF YOU. THE FATE OF OUR JOURNEY IS ALL UP TO YOU, AFTER ALL." Usopp panics, "AGHHH! EVEN THE BONES ARE GONE!" Sanji yells, "DID YOU JUST EAT EVERYTHING ALL BY YOURSELF!I" while Luffy rubs his stomach, "I'M FINISHED EATING AND ALL..." Vivi asks, "AHUH... SHOULD WE GET NOWI" Suddenly Luffy stretches his rubber arm across the table, smashing into the food with a loud "V! GON!!" impact. He shouts, "FOR NAMI TO ENJOY!" Sanji reacts with a furious, stretched face, "WHY YOU RUBBER CRAP HEAD! THAT FOOD WAS... WAS..." The table is overturned in a massive "Z!" crash; Nami and the others are sent flying amid debris and motion lines as someone yells "HUHI" and "SMASH" while another voice cries "DAA!"

On a rocky seaside ledge, a man in a striped suit is kicked backward with hearts and motion lines swirling around him while a question mark floats above. A short-haired woman glances back with an "ア" sound effect near her. In close-up she grins widely, sweat drops flying from her face. A huge panel erupts with massive stylized Japanese sound effects as several tiny figures are blasted high into the air; bold English lettering declares, "YOU TWO CAN JUST GO COOL YOUR HEADS DOWN IN THE SEA!" The next instant the cliffside detonates in a violent explosion of rock and smoke, accompanied by the impact sounds "BUGAH!" and a desperate scream of "AGHH!"

Crocus faces forward with a stern expression and states, "DON'T WORRY. I'LL GIVE YOU ONE AS A SIGN OF THANKS FOR THE MATTER WITH LABOON." Nearby, Miss Wednesday clutches her head in panic while Mr. 9 sweats heavily; she cries, "WHAT DO WE DO, CROCUS!I OUR PRECIOUS LOG POSE IS.....!" and he shouts, "AHHH! WASN'T THAT COMPASS, LIKE, SUPER-DUPER IMPORTANT!I" In the next tier Igaram bows deeply, apologizing, "I SINCERELY APOLOGIZE FOR MY ERR, MISS WEDNESDAY. I KNOW WELL THAT WE CAN'T RETURN BACK TO OUR TOWN WITHOUT IT." Mr. 9 laments, "HOW COULD YOU HAVE BEEN SO CARELESS TO ACCIDENTALLY DROP OUR PRECIOUS LOG POSE!" while another voice admits, "...I CAN'T REALLY MAKE OUT WHAT EXACTLY HAPPENED JUST NOW BUT..." and Mr. 9 asks, "WELLI CAN YOU SEE THEM, MR.9I" A small inset shows a distant view of the lighthouse and Reverse Mountain. In the bottom panel the two Baroque Works agents kneel on the ground; the long-haired woman declares, "WE'VE LOST OUR WEAPONS BUT WE HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO TAKE IT BACK BY FORCE. WE CAN'T JUST STAND AROUND WAITING FOR THE PERFECT CHANCE ANY LONGER," while Miss Wednesday replies, "IF WE DON'T HURRY BACK AND REPORT TO THE BOSS, WE'LL BE IN SOME SERIOUS TROUBLE. WE'RE ALREADY LONG OVERDUE IN OUR MISSION TO CATCH THE WHALE."

Two women stare in horror as a massive vulture and sea otter descend upon them. "OH NO, WE'RE TOO LATE!" one cries. "IT CAN'T BE... THAT'S... THE UNLUCKIES!" The vulture spreads its wings wide while clutching a small box, its rider an otter in a spotted outfit. Large labels identify them: "MYSTERIOUS SEA OTTER MR.13" and "MYSTERIOUS VULTURE MS. FRIDAY". "MISS FRIDAY!" "MR. 13!" the women shout in panic. In the bottom panel the women desperately explain themselves while the vulture looms overhead: "W-WE WERE JUST ON OUR WAY BACK TO MAKE A REPORT TO THE BOSS! WE HAVEN'T BETRAYED THE ORGANIZATION...!" "NO WAIT! THERE'S A PERFECTLY GOOD REASON WHY WE'RE LATE! IT'S ALL BECAUSE THOSE DAMN PIRATES INTERFERED...!"

The vulture Miss Friday releases its grip, dropping the box as it flies away. "DROP" reads the sound effect while the otter clings on. Below, the two women tumble through the air in panic. The vulture soars powerfully across the sky with motion lines and impact effects, the otter still perched on its back. In the final sequence a hand bursts from the water clutching desperately at the air with the word "CLUTCH...!" A small splash follows, then a wide view of the empty sea under drifting clouds.

Luffy is slammed violently into the ground with a massive impact, "DOBAGHH!" sending shockwaves and debris flying as his body contorts from the blow. Nearby, Sanji, Zoro, and Nami react in shock with wide eyes and open mouths, each gasping "GASP!" in succession amid motion lines and sweat drops. The scene shifts to the group half-buried or sprawled on the rocky shore near the water's edge. Luffy lies dazed with his tongue out, Sanji props himself up with a confused "HMI", while the crowned man and Nami sit nearby with question marks hovering above their heads. A tense close-up shows the crowned man's intense glare and a large question mark on his face as he declares, "I HAVE A REQUEST." In the next panel he turns and calls out "HEY!" while extending his hand. Sanji kneels and offers his hand to Nami with a polite bow, saying "MISS WEDNESDAY. YOUR HAND," to which she replies "WHY THANK YOU." as small hearts float nearby.

On a rocky cliff overlooking the sea with a tall lighthouse in the background, the crowned man explains, "IT'S... THE NAME OF OUR TOWN." Sanji questions from off-panel, "WHISKEY PEAKI WHAT'S THATI" The man continues, "SO YOU WANT US TO TAKE YOU THERE BECAUSE YOU LOST YOUR SHIPI" In a closer group shot the crowned man clutches his face dramatically, exclaiming "OWWW! I'M A KING." Luffy shouts "LIAR." while the man retorts, "JUST WHO ARE YOU GUYS ANYWAYS." Nami adds sharply, "ESPECIALLY CONSIDERING YOU TRIED TO KILL THE WHALE AND ALL." The crowned man points and asks "MR.9I" as Nami counters, "DON'T YOU THINK THAT'S ASKING A BIT TOO MUCH." The bottom panel erupts into a wide dramatic scene with the entire group on the cliff path; the crowned man and his companion bow deeply on the ground, pleading "BUT PLEASE! PLEASE TAKE US BACK TO OUR TOWN AND WE SWEAR WE'LL RETURN THE FAVOUR!" while a large impact SFX "カ!! ばっ!!" explodes behind them. Nami stands firm and declares "WE CANNOT SAY!"

Crocus sits with arms crossed and warns, "DON'T LISTEN TO THEM. THEY'RE NOTHING BUT TROUBLE." The long-haired woman pleads on her knees, "AND SO WE ABSOLUTELY CANNOT TELL YOU ANYTHING MORE. PLEASE HELP US OUT FROM THE KINDNESS OF YOUR HEARTS...!" while sweat drops fly and an impact SFX "ドクッ...!!!" erupts. She continues, "WE'D REALLY RATHER NOT KEEP THINGS HUSH-HUSH ABOUT EVERYTHING, BUT 'MYSTERY' IS OUR ORGANIZATION'S MOTTO." Luffy and the two furious Baroque Works women erupt in outrage; one agent yells, "HOW DARE YOU TRY TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF OUR MISFORTUNE WHEN YOU'RE JUST AS MISFORTUNATE AS WE ARE!I" while the other shouts, "W-WHAT!I YOU BROKE IT!I AND ISN'T THAT OURS!I" Nami smiles brightly and asks, "BUT DO YOU STILL WANT A RIDEI WELL... WE ACCIDENTALLY BROKE OUR LOG POSE." Luffy grins widely and declares, "THEY CAN COME ALONG IF THEY WANT. OK." The defeated agents lie sprawled on the ground as Nami stands over them and says, "OH RIGHT! I FORGOT TO MENTION THAT CROCUS HERE GAVE US ANOTHER LOG POSE. WE BESEECH YOUR KINDNESS, MADAM... DAMN THIS WOMAN! SHE WAS TOYING WITH US!"

Nami checks the Log Pose and reports, "YUP! IT'S POINTING TOWARDS WHISKEY PEAK." Crocus stands with arms crossed and asks, "IS IT PROPERLY POINTING TOWARDS A PLACE INDICATED ON THE MAPI YOUR LOG POSE SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECORDED BY NOW." Nami confirms the direction while the lighthouse and harbor of Reverse Mountain loom in the background. From the Going Merry's deck, someone replies, "IT'S FINE. IF I DON'T LIKE THE ROUTE, I CAN ALWAYS SAIL AND CHOOSE A DIFFERENT ROUTE." Crocus warns the crew, "YOU SURE ABOUT THIS, KIDI PICKING WHISKEY PEAK ALL JUST BECAUSE OF THESE RUFFIANS... THE ONLY PLACE YOU CAN CHOOSE WHICH ROUTE YOU WANT TO TAKE IS HERE, YOU KNOW." The Straw Hats wave goodbye from the ship; Nami calls out, "THANKS FOR THE LOG POSE!" while Luffy shouts, "BYE THEN, FLOWER GRAMPS. SEE YA THEN." The two defeated agents watch from the cliff, one muttering "PUKUKUKU!! IDIOTIC PIRATES...!!" and the other sighing, "I SEE..."

The Going Merry races forward through churning waters toward a colossal black archway shaped like a grinning skull. Luffy stands on the deck as the ship plunges into the dark tunnel. "WE'RE GOING NOW, WHALE!" a voice calls out. Massive sound effects explode across the page with "BUO OOHH HHH!" and huge stylized Japanese characters. In a sudden close-up, an elderly man with a long beard, glasses, and a flower-shaped hairstyle stares ahead intensely. "WHAT DO YOU THINK, ROGER...I" he murmurs. "PERHAPS THEY'RE THE PIRATES WE'VE BEEN WAITING FOR..." "THAT CAPTAIN HAS GOT QUITE A MYSTERIOUS AURA ABOUT HIM."
