THE ADVENTURE IN THE CITY OF WATER

A wide view of the sprawling, multi-tiered city of Water Seven is shown with the narration, "FIRST, WHAT AWAITS THEM IN WATER SEVEN...?" On a path near the water, Nami, Luffy, and Usopp are walking. Usopp is struggling to pull a small cart loaded with a massive, heavy sack, making a "GARA GARA GARA..." sound. Nami suggests, "LET'S GO TO THE EXCHANGE." Luffy asks, "WHY NOT JUST GO STRAIGHT TO THE SHIPYARD?" Nami explains, "IT'S NOT GOOD TO RUN AROUND THE ISLAND CARRYING SO MUCH GOLD... THINKING ABOUT IT MAKES ME SWEAT LIKE CRAZY..." She adds, "HM... I AGREE WITH USOPP... BY THE WAY, AFTER WE CHANGE IT INTO CASH, USOPP AND I WILL CARRY IT FOR YOU." Usopp panics, "WHAT IF WE RUN INTO ROBBERS!?" Nami confidently replies, "WE ARE ROBBERS." Luffy argues, "THAT'S NOT THE PROBLEM!! YOU'RE CARRYING SO MUCH GOLD IN PUBLIC!!" Nami dismisses his concern, "IT'S NOT LIKE WE'LL GET LESS MONEY IF WE EXCHANGE LATER."

Nami continues her argument with Luffy, saying, "CORRECT, BECAUSE YOU'LL LOOSE IT." Usopp chimes in, "YUP, THAT'S LUFFY FOR YA!" Offended, Luffy yells, "IS THAT HOW YOU THINK OF ME!!?" Usopp simply replies, "YUP". Nami asks, "ARE YOU SAYING THAT I CAN'T CARRY MONEY?" Luffy retorts, "WHAT ARE YOU IMPLYING?" Nami just says, "HM?" They arrive at a stone bridge over a waterway. Nami looks around and asks, "IS THIS IT? THE ENTRANCE TO THE CITY?" Luffy looks confused, uttering, "HM?" They spot a large sign that reads "RENTALBULL SHOP". Nami reads it, "BULL RENTAL?" Luffy asks, "WHAT'S THAT?" Nami wonders, "WHAT IS THAT FOR?" Luffy asks, "WHAT'S A BULL?" Usopp guesses, "DON'T KNOW. IS IT A BULLDOG?" Nami replies, "PROBABLY NOT," as a small dog nearby barks "WOOF".

Luffy immediately runs toward the shop entrance, shouting, "EXCUSE ME! WE WANT TO RENT A BULL!!" Nami yells after him, "WAIT! FIND OUT WHAT IT IS FIRST!!!" Inside, a man with spiky hair, glasses, and a patterned shirt greets them, "WELCOME. RENTING A BULL?" He asks, "HOW MANY PEOPLE?" Luffy holds up three fingers and says, "THREE!" The shop owner explains, "THERE ARE 3 TYPES: YAGARA, RABUKA, AND KING... WHAT KIND DO YOU WANT?" Nami suggests, "IF THERE ARE THREE OF YOU... HOW ABOUT 2 YAGARA?" Luffy, misunderstanding the situation, says, "OKAY. PLEASE MAKE IT EXTRA CRISPY." Usopp yells at him in exasperation, "WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT!?"

The shop owner laughs heartily at Luffy's comment. "WHAT!? YOU CAME HERE FOLLOWING THE LOG!?" He continues, "WOW~~ THAT'S AMAZING. THOUGH THAT PROBABLY MEANS... THAT YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT BULLS ARE." He points out towards the canal. "LOOK. THOSE ARE BULLS. YAGARA BULLS TO BE EXACT." Nami observes, "THEY ARE EVERYWHERE IN THE CITY." The owner explains, "THEY ARE SPECIAL MARINE CREATURES THAT SWIM ON THE WATER." A wide shot shows the bustling canals of Water Seven, filled with people riding in boats pulled by large, seahorse-like creatures. The owner continues, "THIS IS A WATER CITY, SO THERE ARE MORE WATER CANALS THAN THERE ARE DRY ROADS. THUS BULLS ARE CRUCIAL TO THE CITIZENS' EVERYDAY LIFE. IT IS ALSO NECESSARY FOR TOURISTS TO MOVE AROUND THE CITY."

Nami asks, "DO YOU USE THE FISH TO PULL THE BOAT?" The owner clarifies, "NO. YOU MOUNT THE BOATS ON THEM. IT WORKS VERY MUCH LIKE THE HORSES ON DRY LANDS. THEY WORK LIKE HORSE CARRIAGES." He leads them to a dock area. "THIS IS MY BULL POOL. OKAY. COME AND GIVE IT A TRY. 2 YAGARA-BULLS WILL COST YOU 2000 BERI." Luffy looks over the edge at the Yagara Bulls swimming in the pool. Nami coos, "SO CUTE~" The bulls make a "NI NI" sound. Luffy remarks, "THEY LOOK LIKE HORSES." Suddenly, one of the bulls reaches up and licks Luffy's face with a loud "SLURP". Luffy recoils, yelling, "WAH!" The owner laughs, "IT LIKES YOU! I'LL GIVE YOU THAT ONE." Luffy wipes his face, shouting, "STUPID BULL!!!" while the bulls continue to say "NI NI".

Luffy holds up the massive sack of gold and asks, "CAN IT CARRY THIS? THIS IS HEAVY." The owner assures him, "NO PROBLEM. IT'S VERY STRONG AND CAPABLE OF TRANSPORTING ANYTHING. WHAT'S IN THAT SACK?" Luffy bluntly answers, "GOLD!" The owner laughs, "HAHAHAHA. YOU'RE FUNNY. THOUGH IT WOULD HAVE NO PROBLEM CARRYING GOLD." Luffy opens the sack to prove it, saying, "SEE?" Nami immediately smacks Luffy on the head, yelling, "DON'T SHOW IT TO PEOPLE, IDIOT!!" Usopp tries to grab the sack, shouting, "WAH!! GIVE ME!!!" but Nami yells, "IN YOUR DREAM!!" The owner, sweating slightly, says, "MAN... YOU'RE A STRAIGHT SHOOTER." Usopp argues with Nami, "WHY? IT'S NOT LIKE WE'LL LOOSE ANY-THING..." Nami mutters, "THAT WAS A SURPRISE..." The owner, now with a greedy smile, changes his tune: "OKAY. 2 YAGARA-BULLS WILL COST YOU AROUND 1 MILLION BERI." Usopp angrily points at him, "YOU ROSE THE PRICE BY 50,000%!!" Nami ignores the price hike and asks, "HEY. IS THERE AN EXCHANGE NEAR BY?" The owner replies, "YES, BUT THAT'S A LOT OF GOLD YOU HAVE THERE... THEY WON'T HAVE ENOUGH CASH TO EXCHANGE FOR ALL OF IT. YOU SHOULD GO TO THE CITY CENTER IN THE ZOUSENSHIMA."

Luffy, Nami, and Usopp are now riding in two boats attached to Yagara Bulls, speeding through the water. Luffy cheers, "OKAY! LET'S GO, YAGARA!!" The shop owner waves from the dock, calling out, "THANKS FOR COMING! PLEASE TAKE CARE!" Luffy waves back, "THANKS FOR THE MAP!!" The bulls make their "NI--!" and "NI NI" sounds as they swim. They cruise smoothly along the canal. Luffy stretches his arms out, yelling, "WOW! THIS IS GREAT! YOU GO, BULL!!" Nami smiles, noting, "THIS IS A USEFUL ANIMAL." Usopp, relaxing in the back, agrees, "IT'S QUITE A RIDE!"

As they navigate the canals, Usopp observes, "WE'RE IN THE RESIDENTIAL AREA. WATER ROADS ARE EVERYWHERE." Suddenly, he looks ahead in shock and yells, "AH! UPHILL! CAN IT SWIM UPHILL TOO?" The Yagara Bulls effortlessly swim up a steep, watery incline. The bull says "NI!!". Usopp panics, "WAIT! THIS IS THE WRONG WAY!" Luffy, however, is thrilled, shouting, "YAHOOO!!!" and "IT CAN ALSO SWIM AGAINST THE CURRENT!! THIS FISH IS SO STRONG!!" They reach the top and are now riding along an aqueduct high above the city streets. The bull cries "NI~~~~!!!". Luffy looks over the edge, amazed, "THERE ARE WATER ROADS ABOVE THE ROOF TOO!!" Usopp, still stressed, complains, "WE'RE GOING THE WRONG WAY!! WE HAVE TO GO TO THE MARKET DISTRICT FIRST..."

Luffy ignores Usopp's complaints, cheering, "WHO CARES! LET'S JUST LOOK AROUND ON THE WATER ROADS. WOOHOO! GOING DOWN~~~!" as they slide down another watery slope. Nami looks a bit nervous, uttering a small "AH?". They arrive in a bustling, crowded market area filled with boats and vendors. Luffy looks around, asking, "ARE WE AT THE MARKET!?" Usopp wonders, "WAS THAT A... SHORT-CUT!?" The bull says "NI-!!". Nami is impressed, "WOW! THESE FISHES ARE SMART!!" Luffy grins, "WOW! IT'S SO LIVELY." The market is packed with activity. A vendor calls out, "MA'AM, I'LL SELL THIS CHEAP!!" and a sign advertises "50% OFF!!!". Usopp suddenly points ahead, shouting, "LOOK! A SUPER BIG BULL!!"

A massive, intimidating Yagara Bull, known as a King Bull, swims past them. People riding it exclaim "HUAAH!!". Luffy stares in awe, "WOW! THAT LOOKS SCARY!!" Nami nervously adds, "IT LOOKS LIKE IT CAN SWALLOW US..." The King Bull makes a deep "NI!" sound. Usopp notices the passengers on the King Bull and says, "EH? WHAT THE HECK?" Nami observes, "MASKS...?" Luffy comments, "WOW... THAT LOOK SO HIGH CLASS..." Nami wonders, "I WONDER WHO THEY ARE." The passengers are dressed elegantly and wearing elaborate masquerade masks. As they continue through the market, a vendor calls out, "WELCOME!! WOULD YOU LIKE SOMETHING?" Suddenly, Luffy's bull changes direction. Usopp yells, "HEY! WHERE ARE YOU GOING, LUFFY!?" The bull says "NI". Luffy, surprised, asks, "AH! WHERE ARE YOU GOING?" Nami asks, "WHAT?" The bull replies with a "NI?".

Luffy's bull has stopped at a food stall. The woman running the stall explains, "MIZU MIZU MEAT IS FOR PEOPLE, BUT YAGARA BULLS ALSO LIKE THEM." Luffy realizes, "WHAT? ARE YOU HUNGRY?" The bull confirms with a "NI--!!". Luffy decides, "MIZU MIZU? GIVE ME 10!!" In the next panel, Luffy is rapidly stuffing his face with the meat, making loud "CHOMP CHOMP CHOMP" sounds. He sighs in delight, "SO~~~ SOFT~~~~ YUM~~~". Usopp, drooling, yells, "EEH!!?? LET ME TRY ONE TOO!!!" Nami tells him, "GO BUY IT YOURSELF." Usopp demands, "NAMI!! GO TO THE SHOP!!" Meanwhile, Nami notices more people in the crowd. "ANOTHER ONE...?" Usopp points out, "IF YOU LOOK CAREFULLY... THERE ARE LOTS OF PEOPLE WEARING MASKS..." Usopp then calls out to Nami, "HEY!! NAMI!!!"

Nami is looking at the map they received. "WE SHOULD BE AT THE ENTRANCE TO THE SHIPYARD SOON." Usopp replies, "OKAY." Nami instructs, "FIRST WE HAVE TO GO THROUGH THE AQUATIC ELEVATOR." Usopp is confused, "AQUATIC ELEVATOR?" They approach a massive, imposing stone structure with large gates. Nami points ahead, "IT'S PROBABLY THAT TOWER-LOOKING STRUCTURE." As they get closer, Nami explains, "THIS WAY TO THE ELEVATOR TO ZOUSENSHIMA. IT'S WHERE THE SHIPYARDS AND THE CITY HALL OF WATER SEVEN ARE LOCATED."

They enter the large structure. A guard announces, "PLEASE ENTER QUICKLY. THE GATE WILL CLOSE IN ONE MINUTE." Luffy looks around, asking, "WHAT DO WE DO HERE?" Nami looks at a diagram on the wall showing how the system works. "OH I SEE. THAT'S HOW THE AQUATIC ELEVATOR WORKS!!" They are inside a large stone chamber. The heavy metal door closes behind them with a loud "GASHAN!!". Usopp notes, "AH! THE DOOR CLOSED." Suddenly, water begins to flood into the chamber from below. Luffy realizes, "OH! WE'RE GOING UP!" Usopp repeats, "GOING UP!" The water level rises rapidly, lifting their boats higher and higher. Luffy laughs joyfully, "HAHAHA! WATER SEVEN IS SO FUN!!" Nami observes, "THEY DO EVERYTHING WITH WATER."

The scene shifts back to the Going Merry, anchored off the coast. A voice calls out, "HEY! HEY, ZORO!" Zoro, who was sleeping on the deck, wakes up with a question mark above his head. Sanji is standing on the deck, looking around. "WHERE'S ROBIN? IS SHE ON THE SHIP!?" Zoro replies groggily, "HM... NO... SHE WENT OUT WITH CHOPPER." Sanji is disappointed, "WHAT!?" He complains, "THEY WENT TO BUY SOME STUFF. THIS SUCKS. ONLY YOU ARE LEFT ON THE SHIP! SO BORING!!" Zoro retorts, "SAME TO YOU." Sanji turns to leave, saying, "FINE. I'M GOING TO GO SHOPPING, TOO. WATCH THE SHIP!!" He looks back to see Zoro is already fast asleep again, snoring "ZZZZ...". Sanji sighs, "FELL ASLEEP ALREADY... OH WELL... YOU'RE IT."

The aquatic elevator reaches the top, and Luffy, Nami, and Usopp emerge into a massive, open area. Luffy throws his arms up and yells, "WE'RE HERE!! THE BEST SHIPYARD OF THE WORLD!!" The bull chimes in with a "NI". Usopp looks around in awe, "SO BIG!! EVERYTHING IS SO BIG!!" Nami agrees, "THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I'VE BEEN TO SUCH A BIG CITY!!" A sprawling, impressive shipyard complex is laid out before them, centered around a giant fountain-like structure. Nami announces, "WATER SEVEN CITY CENTER!!" Usopp notes, "THERE ARE LOTS OF DRY AREA HERE." Luffy notices a large gathering of people in the distance. "WHAT'S THAT CROWD ABOUT? ARE THEY LOOKING AT SHIPS BEING MADE? LET'S GO AND SEE!! GO, YAGARA!!" The bull responds with a "NI!".

They approach the crowd, where people are cheering enthusiastically. A woman swoons, "LOOK! LUE-CHAN IS SO STRONG!! SO HANDSOME!!" referring to Rob Lucci, who is standing calmly with his pigeon. A man asks, "WHERE'S PAULIE?" Another man cheers for Peeply Lulu, "RURU IS THE BEST! HE'S THE MAN AMONGST MEN!!" Another argues, "NO. TIRESTONE IS THE MAN!!" referring to the large Tilestone. Luffy asks an old man nearby, "WHAT'S GOING ON HERE?" The old man explains, "HN? OH. THERE WERE SOME PIRATES CAUSING TROUBLE IN THE SHIPYARD, BUT AS USUAL, THEY GOT TAKEN CARE OF BY THE CARPENTERS. THEY NEVER LEARN." Usopp overhears and says, "YEAH. YOU MUST BE A SAILOR. YES?" Luffy is surprised, "EHH? THE SHIP MECHANICS BEAT THE PIRATES? ANYWAYS, THE CROWD GATHERED HERE TO SEE WHAT HAPPENED." The old man proudly states, "THE CARPENTERS OF THE GAREERA COMPANY ARE IDOLS OF THE PEOPLE IN THE CITY. THEY ARE ALL GOOD AT BOTH COMBAT AND CARPENTRY. THEY ARE THE PRIDE OF WATER SEVEN." Luffy smiles widely, "REALLY? THAT SOUNDS INTERESTING."

The scene cuts back to the Going Merry, sitting quietly on the water. On the deck, Zoro is still sleeping. Suddenly, a dark silhouette appears standing over him. A voice says, "...! I THOUGHT YOU'RE ASLEEP..." In a flash of movement, Zoro draws his sword and blocks a downward strike from the unidentified attacker. The clash creates a sharp impact. Zoro glares up fiercely at the shadowy figure, demanding, "WHO... THE HELL ARE YOU?"
