THE FLAG KNOWN AS PRIDE

A black-and-white version of the chapter color spread fills the page. The title "ONE PIECE" and the subtitle "Stand up - if ya wanna fight" are visible. The Straw Hat Pirates are riding across the sky with dinosaurs and pterodactyls: Nami and Vivi sit on the saddle near the dinosaur's head, Sanji slides down the snout with a cigarette in his mouth, Luffy dangles from a pterodactyl's reins, Usopp rides near the creature's head, and Zoro rides another pterodactyl in the distance.

A full-color version of the same spread shows the Straw Hat Pirates riding across the sky with dinosaurs and pterodactyls. The title "ONE PIECE" and the subtitle "Stand up - if ya wanna fight" are visible at the top. Nami and Vivi ride near the dinosaur's head, Sanji slides down the snout, Luffy swings from a pterodactyl's reins, Usopp rides near the creature's head, and Zoro rides another pterodactyl in the background.

A small, standalone panel shows Sanji and Usopp standing side-by-side. They are both looking up and whistling, attempting to look completely innocent and nonchalant.

Back on Smoker's ship, a Marine reports to Smoker and Tashigi, "It's from a call that we intercepted just now. Shall I play it back now, Sgt. Major?" Tashigi, adjusting her glasses, replies, "Y-yes, please go ahead." Smoker, smoking his cigars, instructs her, "Listen carefully to this conversation between two men." A black Den Den Mushi, labeled "BLACK DENDEN-MUSHI (USED TO INTERCEPT CALLS)", is shown playing back the recording. The voice on the recording says, "Crrk... Yes, I've carried out my miss-...crrk......Princess Vivi and... Straw-Hat Pi-...or not? Tsst... and 'orders.' 'Mr. 0,' 'Straw-Hat,' 'Princess Vivi,'". Smoker listens intently. Tashigi reacts with surprise, "Straw-Hat!? As in the Straw-Hat Pirates!?" Smoker explains, "Yes... the source was too far away for us to intercept the call clearly but we can still note 4 keywords from this conversation."

Tashigi points out, "Could it be that the Mr. 0 from the intercepted call, has something to do with this suspicious swordsman called Mr. 11 who we apprehended yesterday at Runesu!?" Smoker agrees, "Hm, good point. If these numbers are their codenames, and there's talk about carrying out orders... then we might be dealing with a secret criminal organization." The scene shifts to show a man tied to the ship's mast. A caption identifies him as "BAROQUE WORKS FRONTIER AGENT MR. 11". Sweating nervously, Mr. 11 denies everything, "Mr. 0? Criminal organization? I haven't got the faintest idea what you're talking about. Seems like you're making too much out of your guesswork." Smoker challenges him, "Then how do you explain this letter I found in your pocket with orders written on it!?" Mr. 11 panics, his eyes bulging, "Wha!? I... I'm sure I burned that letter up...! Ah- that letter is actually..." Smoker smirks and reveals the trick, "We never found any letter in your pockets." Realizing he's been fooled into confessing, Mr. 11 cries out in despair, tears streaming down his face. Smoker repeats, "That letter..?"

Smoker continues his deduction, "'Princess Vivi.' If I recall correctly, that's the name of the Alabastan princess who's currently missing. Speaking of Alabasta, I hear that kingdom is in the midst of a coup d'etat." He looks back at Tashigi, "...You don't think the Straw-Hat Pirates and this mysterious criminal organization has something to do with all that, do you...?" Tashigi replies, "I don't know, but this is the only lead that we've got on the Straw-Hat Pirates right now." Smoker says, "So then..." and Tashigi confirms, "That's right." Smoker orders his men, "Request HQ for an Eternal Pose." A Marine salutes, "Yessir!" Smoker looks out over the ocean towards the horizon, saying, "Why don't we go see, exactly what the desert kingdom of Alabasta has in store for us..."

The scene shifts back to Little Garden. A caption reads "ISLAND OF GIANTS, 'LITTLE GARDEN'". The two giants, Dorry and Brogy, are sitting on the ground, laughing heartily. "GABABA BABA!" "GEGYAGYA GYAGYA!" Brogy says to the Straw Hats, "You little ones really helped us out back there. If there's anything we can do to thank you..." Dorry adds, "I had completely forgotten about the bounties placed on our heads!" Nearby, Vivi looks downcast and guilty. She says, "But even so... it's originally my fault, that those agents came to this island..." Nami pinches Vivi's cheek playfully, causing Vivi to yelp, "OWW!" Nami scolds her gently, "Don't say that!"

Nami smiles warmly at Vivi, "See, nobody here blames you for anything." In the background, Luffy, Usopp, and Karoo are happily munching on senbei crackers. Usopp asks, "Why the long face, Vivi? Wanna eat some senbei? Where the heck did you get those from?" The mood turns playful again: someone calls for a senbei party, Nami squirts water, Usopp gets splashed, and the others joke around while Vivi wipes away tears. Zoro then brings up the serious problem: "We're in serious trouble if we have to wait a full year for the log to record." The crew asks whether the giants can do anything about it, but Brogy answers, "Don't speak nonsense. Even we can't do a thing about the logs."

Suddenly, Sanji comes running out of the jungle, waving his arms and yelling, "HELLO-OOOO-OOOO-OOOO-OOOO, NAMI AND VIVI! AND THE REST!" Luffy and Usopp look surprised to see him. Usopp exclaims, "HE SHOWS UP NOW!?" Luffy waves back, "HEY, SANJI!" Sanji dances around joyfully, "THANK GOD YOU'RE ALL SAFE! <3<3" He immediately swoons over Nami, his eye turning into a heart, "OH MY! <3 ELECTRIFYING AS ALWAYS, NAMI! <3" Nami looks confused and asks, "Huh? How do you know about Mr. 3?" Sanji stops his swooning, looking puzzled. Zoro points an accusing finger at Sanji and yells, "THE HELL IS THAT!? ARE YOU MR. 3!?" Dorry looks down at the commotion.

Sanji sits down and explains the situation, "So then... you were talking with Mr. 0...?" Nami replies, "Yeah, I guess... It seems he mistook me for Mr. 3. And now he thinks that we're all dead!? Yeah. Or at least, that's what I told him. Just a moment ago..." Sanji sighs, "Just when we finally throw off our pursuers, we can't even step a foot off of this island!" He then casually holds up an Eternal Pose. "What? Do we still have unfinished business here or something? I mean, I managed to get this from them and all..." The rest of the crew, including the giants, stare at him in absolute shock, their jaws dropping. They exclaim, "Huh?" and "Wha?"

The crew erupts in cheers. "HAHA! AN ETERNAL POSE TO ALABASTA! WE CAN SET SAIL!" They jump for joy around the giants. Sanji is back to swooning over Vivi, who says, "Thank you so much, Sanji! I was so worried over what to do...!" Sanji blushes and replies, "Y-you're... welcome... deheh. <3" Nami looks at Sanji and says, "I didn't think it'd make you this happy...." Luffy, still eating senbei, declares, "Alright, guys! It's time for a senbei party!" Usopp yells at him, "Luffy! This ain't gonna be much of a party if we've only got 3 crackers left!" Nami takes charge, "This isn't the time for that. It's time to set sail, Captain! We can't just loiter around here forever!"

Zoro suddenly remembers something, "Ah, that's right. You haven't forgotten about our hunting contest, have you?" Sanji replies confidently, "Hm? Oh, I'm sure I've won that." Zoro boasts, "I caught a rhino 'bout thiiiiiiiis big." Sanji retorts, "A rhino!? Can you even eat that thing?" Dorry and Brogy look at each other, confused by the conversation. "Hunting- contest...?" Luffy smiles broadly and addresses the giants, "Alright then, Mr. Round, Mr. Giant! We'll be taking off now!"

Brogy looks down at the departing crew and says, "I see... busy lil' buggers, aren'cha? It's a shame but we won't ask you to stay longer. I hope your country's safe, girl." Vivi bows slightly and says, "Thank you." Usopp turns back and yells enthusiastically, "Master! I'll go to Elbaf for sure one day!" Dorry laughs heartily, "Ha, sure it is, son." Luffy waves and yells, "Just you wait. My catch is definitely bigger. See ya then! Don't die anymore!" The Straw Hats walk away towards their ship, leaving the giants behind.

Brogy watches the crew leave and says, "Our friends are setting sail..." Dorry adds that they cannot leave the Straw Hats to fend for themselves because a monster lives in the seas to the west. Brogy asks Dorry how his wounds are, and Dorry replies, "Hmph, it's nothing serious." They look at their battered axe and sword, realizing this is probably the end for the weapons they have fought with for over a hundred years. Even so, for their friends' sake, they decide they have no regrets.

On the deck of the Going Merry, Zoro and Sanji are fiercely arguing face-to-face. Sanji yells, "Look! My lizard is clearly bigger." Zoro yells back, "Are your eyes just for show or something? The bigger animal is my rhino." Nami sighs in exasperation, "Who cares, they both look pretty tasty to me." The crew tells them to stay out of it and get packed up because it is time to set sail. Sanji immediately changes his tune for Nami, "As you wish, Nami!" He then asks Usopp, "Hey, Usopp. Mine's clearly bigger, right?" Usopp replies dismissively, "Huh? I couldn't care less." Sanji suggests, "Is a tie no good?" but Zoro refuses, "There's no tie in a contest!"

The Going Merry sails down the river through the dense jungle of Little Garden. Nami navigates, "If we sail straight from here, we should be able to exit on the western side of the island." Usopp asks, "Do you think we should've packed some more of that meat?" Nami scolds him, "Don't be stupid. We don't even have enough space to preserve any more than this. Are you trying to sink our ship?" Luffy suddenly points back towards the island, "Ah! It's the giants! They've come to see us off!"

Dorry and Brogy are standing on the shore, their massive silhouettes visible against the sky. Brogy calls out, "The most important reason why all the little ones who come to this island, do not reach the next island lies straight ahead." The Jolly Roger on the Going Merry flaps in the wind. Luffy, Usopp, and Nami look confused by the warning. "What?" Dorry continues, "You all risked your lives so that our pride can remain untarnished. Thus, in turn, no matter the foe..."

Dorry finishes his sentence, "We must not let your flag of pride be tarnished either...!" Brogy yells forcefully, "Trust in us and sail straight ahead! No matter what happens, sail only straight ahead!" Luffy yells back, "Got it! What're they... Sail straight ahead! Farewell." Dorry and Brogy raise their weapons, ready for action. Dorry says, "Let us meet again, one day in the future." Suddenly, Nami looks ahead in shock and points, "Look! Up ahead!"

A massive, terrifying giant goldfish emerges from the water directly in the path of the Going Merry. It's the "Island-Devourer", so large that the ship looks tiny in comparison. Dorry says, "So you've come, 'Island-Devourer.'" Brogy declares, "In the name of Elbaf, we vow to clear a path!" The two giants stand ready to strike the beast with their weapons.
