A mountain bandit pins young Luffy to the dirt with his foot while his crew watches. "YOU STINKING MOUNTAIN APE!!!" Luffy yells. The bandit snarls, "MOVE YOUR FOOT..." Onlookers whisper, "WHY'D HE HAVE TO PICK A FIGHT WITH THOSE GUYSI! CURSE THAT LUFFY!" In town the striped-hat bandit pleads desperately, "PLEASE!! LET THE BOY GO!" The robed bandit leader looms over Luffy, declaring, "YOU KNOW HOW THE WORLD WORKS. NICE TRY, OLD MAN..." The mayor cries out, "MAYOR!" The leader continues, "BUT IF IT'S MY MONEY YOU WANT, YOU'LL GET IT. JUST DON'T HURT THE BOY!" Luffy, still trapped, shouts, "I DON'T KNOW WHAT LUFFY DID... AND I HAVE NO INTENTION OF FIGHTING YOU PEOPLE..."

The bandit leader tightens his grip on Luffy. "I CAN'T TAKE THAT FROM THIS LITTLE RUBBER-SPINE FREAK! BWANG BWANG" Luffy struggles. The leader sneers, "HE'S DONE THE UNPARDONABLE... HE ATTACKED ME... AND HE CALLED ME NAMES. YOU STARTED THIS, BANDIT! YOU MOUNTAIN MACAQUE!" He warns, "BUT I'M AFRAID IT'S TOO LATE. NO ONE CAN SAVE THIS BRAT NOW." The striped-hat man begs on his knees, "PLEASE! FORGIVE HIM! LUFFY!" The leader draws his sword with a sharp "SHHRR" and declares, "I'M GONNA KILL YOU! THAT DOES IT. I'M NOT GONNA SELL YOU." Shanks and his crew arrive; Shanks remarks, "I WAS WONDERING WHAT WAS GOING ON... NOBODY CAME TO GREET US AT THE HARBOR."

Shanks greets the bandits casually, "OH, IT'S YOU MOUNTAIN BANDITS AGAIN!" The bandit leader threatens, "COME ANY CLOSER AND WE'LL HAVE TO KILL YOU... COWARDS. The mountain bandits laugh, "HEH HEH HEH HEH!!" One levels a pistol at Shanks, "DIDN'T YOU HEAR HIMI! DON'T COME ANY CLOSER..." Shanks calmly replies, "HUHI! WHAT'RE YOU TALKING ABOUTI YOU'RE PUTTING YOUR LIFE ON THE LINE BY POINTING THAT AT ME." The bandit cocks the gun with a "KLIK" and roars, "...OR I'LL BLOW YOUR HEAD OFF! HA HA HA HA!!" Shanks moves in a blur. "BOOM" The gunshot rings out as the bandit is sent flying. Shanks, unfazed, states, "I'M SAYING IT'S NOT SAFE TO POINT GUNS."

Shanks stands calmly on a wooden platform in the midst of the chaos, murmuring "HUHI" as the sea churns violently around him. Suddenly a gigantic sea creature surges upward with jaws wide open, its teeth gleaming. The beast lunges forward in a frenzy of motion lines and impact effects, chomping down with thunderous "CHOMP CHOMP" and "KR UCHA" sounds while Luffy screams "GYAAA!" in terror.
