Robin keeps her grip as Franky screams that they will come off, "JUST LIKE MIKANS!!" The spectators can barely watch. Chopper begs, "HEY, ROBIN, I WANT HIM TO BE OUR NAKAMA AS A MAN!!! DON'T MAKE THEM COME OFF, OKAY!?" Nami says it hurts just looking at it, while others call Franky pitiful even though he is a pervert. Robin's method is terrifying, but it forces the truth to the surface.

Robin tells Franky that if pirates are asked to back off in front of a "treasure," they had better have a good explanation, otherwise there is no way they will retreat. Iceburg refuses to let Franky call the ship finished. "THIS SHIP HASN'T BECOME YOUR SO-CALLED 'DREAM SHIP' YET," he says. Franky stares, shaken, and remembers what that dream really meant. A ship earns the name only after it sails off, crosses many seas, overcomes battles and hardships, and finally arrives at the end of the sea. Only then can the builder call it a "DREAM SHIP." Franky once imagined getting on such a ship as a shipwright and seeing its destined day with his own eyes. By then, the ship would be rugged and worn, but brighter than any other ship. His own memory betrays his excuse.

Kokoro laughs that Franky may exceed Tom if he becomes a sailor, while someone jokes, "I WONDER IF IT'S THE PIRATE BLOOD." Franky snaps that a dude like him can never exceed Tom-san. Kokoro, however, tells him he is still young, just doing the same stubborn thing as Tom with a don. Iceburg cuts deeper. Franky says he changed his mind about what he wants to do, but Iceburg replies that whatever Franky is doing on the island now is all just atonement. Tom was taken away that day, but Tom already forgave Franky and directed him to the new road. Franky's duty to Water Seven has become a chain he forged for himself.

Iceburg lays out everything Franky has done since then. He brought the backstreet punks together, called himself a bounty hunter, protected the island from looters, and did it all to protect the Water City that Tom loved as atonement. Then Iceburg asks whether Franky will really quit shipbuilding and subdue his will to live forever under that excuse. Franky tries to protest, saying that was never his intention, but Iceburg keeps going: even if Tom forgives him and Iceburg forgives him, probably nothing will change. Then he says the words Franky most needs to hear: "...!!! WHY DON'T YOU..." and "FORGIVE YOURSELF."

Franky tries to hold himself together, but the pain, Robin's grip, and the truth all hit at once. He screams, "OWWWW!!!" and crashes through the debris, while Kokoro laughs wide enough to swallow the scene. The spectacle is still ridiculous, but the emotion underneath it is not. Franky has been forced to hear that the guilt he carried for years does not have to decide the rest of his life.

The Franky Family throws a bag toward him and shouts, "IT'S LUGGAGE FOR YOUR JOURNEY, BRO!!!" Franky asks, "A BAG!?" and snarls for them to get away, calling them fools. The family breaks down and apologizes: "BROO!!! PLEASE FORGIVE US... FOR EVERYTHING!!! WE'RE REALLY SORRY!!! WE'RE READY TO ACCEPT ANY PUNISHMENT!!!" They admit they used their brains to the fullest and thought of this plan. Franky shouts that they have no brains, asking if they had a way to take his pants, a way to make him a pirate, or a way to take his pants from him. The family says they are sorry, but cannot just think a bit about someone who adopted them as racketeers.
