Rebecca

The Navy's closing in: the grand Dressrosa escape operation begins. Zoro yells, "Luffy! We're short on time!" Luffy answers that he has something to attend to and will finish it quick. The group tells him they will wait at the eastern port; Bartolomeo, lost, is told, "Zoro-senpai! That way's south!" At the marine tent near Dressrosa's central district, Maynard says, "We've already got all the information together-dara!" and asks where the pirates from the house on the hill are. Fujitora says the bigshots are already on their way to the location and he will take command.

The pirate-allied fighters flee toward the eastern port, with signs shouting "THIS WAY" and Bartolomeo leading, "This way, everyone!" Marines assume the pirates are most likely fleeing for the eastern port and try to contact the patrol there, but the port patrol reports nothing unusual. The criminals have already compromised the eastern port and pose as Marines: "Yes, this is the eastern port patrol squad here! Over!" When Maynard orders, "State your Marine code and name at once, soldier!" the impostor can only stammer, "Wha--? Er..." Maynard realizes the port is compromised and orders pursuit squads sent east immediately.

Bartolomeo's group pushes onward: "Go on ahead! The port's not much further!" Zoro says thanks while Luffy splits away. The Colosseum fighters, including Abdullah and Jeet, Sai and others, refuse gratitude: "Spare us your gratitude! We already owe you; we don't need any more favors! We're in debtors' hell trying to pay you back as it is!" A report says the criminals once in the palace have appeared in another region of the city, meaning the palace is now completely vacant. At the palace flower fields, soldiers report, "Straw Hat Luffy has just arrived!" and Luffy shouts for Rebecca.

In the royal palace inner garden, Rebecca hears someone outside calling her. Luffy appears at the window: "There you are!" Soldiers shout, "Apprehend Straw Hat!" and "Lucy! Over here!" A lady-in-waiting says she should not be consorting with pirates because it is improper. Meanwhile King Riku says it is time to announce the return of the Riku royal family to the throne. Luffy asks Tank Lepanto to call Viola and Rebecca because he is going down to the city. Tank agrees: "Yes! I shall return at once! I've been waiting for this day for far too long!"

Rebecca runs to Luffy's window as guards panic: "Lucy!" "Rebecca!" She says, "He's a pirate but he's also the man that saved this country!" The attendants worry that a pirate is still a pirate, but Luffy says, "I'm glad you came! I didn't get to properly thank you, so..." Rebecca starts asking if he is okay after what they did to Soldier-san, but Luffy cuts her off: "That's not why I'm here, dummy!"

Luffy tells Rebecca, "You're never going to be able to see him again, at this rate!" Rebecca says she received a letter from Soldier-san explaining he is trying to distance himself from her. He wrote that he wants to make her a stranger because he said such terrible things, and that she is just some one-legged toy. Rebecca breaks down: "What? You aren't even my parent!" and wonders if he detests the thought of living with her, or thinks she will be a burden.

Rebecca shouts that she hates the situation and asks Luffy whether he was really okay with the way things turned out. Luffy snaps back that he has no idea and tells her to think about it herself: "I can't stay in this country any longer!" Then he asks, "Then, will you come with me?" Rebecca agrees. Viola calls after them, "Rebecca! Straw Hat! Wait just a minute!" but Rebecca says she has a favor to ask Viola. Luffy carries Rebecca and leaps from the palace wall.

Luffy and Rebecca crash through the wall and drop toward the city; Luffy tells her, "Hold on tight!" and she answers, "Okay!" Soldiers shout, "Time to run!" The palace panics: King Riku hears that Lady Rebecca has been kidnapped by a pirate. One attendant asks, "Who? Which pirate?! What kind of pirate?! One of the Colosseum entrants?!" Riku answers in shock: "Straw Hat Luffy!"

The city hears the rumor: "Lady Rebecca has been kidnapped from the palace!" People scream that the culprit is none other than Straw Hat Luffy and that he will ransom her off. The citizens and Marines shout, "Hunt down Straw Hat on the double! Save Princess Rebecca!" Some complain this is what happens when people trust pirate scum; Gatz still loves Lucy and calls him an unexpected rascal. A special sniper squad spots Luffy and opens fire with SFX like gunshots and smoke.

Luffy uses Haoshoku Haki to knock the Marine soldiers unconscious as he carries Rebecca, with SFX of bodies thudding down. A Marine tent report says, "The troops have collapsed?" The Marines note that they are still conscious and still plan to set sail from the eastern port, so the fleet is mobilized: "Send all squads east to Carta!" Luffy keeps running with Rebecca while the crowd yells, "Get that Lucy!" He grins, "I'd like to see you try!"

Luffy tells Rebecca to go the rest of the way by herself because the whole country is after them trying to protect her; if she is caught, she will be taken back to the palace. He says he will leave her on the back side of the hill as a decoy. Rebecca understands: "Got it! Thank you!" and thanks him again while Luffy laughs, "Shishishi! Don't mention it!" Below, citizens shout both "Capture Lucy!" and "Save Lady Rebecca!" while one says, "I guess once a pirate, always a pirate!" Another says, "I ain't trusting no pirates no more!"

Kyros is back at the flower field house, quietly pulling on his boot and preparing to leave. He says, "Scarlet, my duty here is done. I apologize for lying about who your significant other and Rebecca's father is. It was for the sake of her happiness." He explains that Scarlet, as part of the royal family, fled from place to place and was slighted at every turn for ten long years. Kyros wants Rebecca, a child of the royal family, to have the happiness she deserves. He says, "I... I can't stay here anymore," and opens the door to leave.

Rebecca arrives and stops Kyros: "Just stop with all the lying already!" Kyros realizes she means the letter and says he was not lying, that he really was a villain long ago and killed a man. Rebecca answers that motives aside, she does not care how many hundreds of people he has killed or if his hands are stained blood red: "I only have one dad in this world!" She rejects the invented prince story: "I'm not some posh prince's son! I don't know anyone like that!"

Rebecca cries out, "I am Kyros's daughter!" in a huge tearful close-up. She begs, "So... stop lying...!" while a drop falls from Kyros's face and he repeats to himself that he only wanted this until the day she could be happy. Rebecca runs across the flower field toward him and shouts, "I will remain by your side! Stay by my side, Soldier-san!" The emotional reunion lands with loud SFX as she throws herself into his arms and Kyros is finally forced to hear what she chose.

Kyros asks Rebecca if she is sure she wants someone like him as her father. Rebecca smiles through tears: "Yes! Let's live... together!" Back at the palace, Viola and King Riku discuss that Rebecca will not be returning to the palace. Riku says he feared as much, and Viola says, "Yes... this is what she wishes for." Viola then apologizes and asks to be princess instead. Riku calls it a strange request but notes this is the second time someone has asked that of him: "I guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree."

At the ruins of forest town Carta, entrance to the eastern port, the fleeing allies wonder where Luffy is and note that Trafalgar Law has also disappeared. Bartolomeo asks what those two bosses are doing. At the port, Fujitora stands before them and says, "There are things even we can't hold off." Bartolomeo panics: "I just had to open my big fat mouth!! Here comes one right now! It... it's Fujitora! Luffy-senpai, get your ass over here now!" Side text warns, "Fujitora draws near! Hurry, Luffy!" The chapter ends.
