Adventure on Long Island

A vibrant color spread titled "ONE PIECE The colors of the rainbow so pretty in the sky." The Straw Hat crew is performing their concert on a wooden raft amidst crashing waves. Luffy is singing and playing a harmonica, Zoro is enthusiastically beating taiko drums, Nami is playing a grand piano, Usopp is strumming a shamisen, Sanji is blowing a trumpet, Chopper is shaking maracas, and Robin is playing a harp. Behind them, five massive, colorful eels—red, yellow, green, blue, and purple—leap out of the ocean in an arc, forming a living rainbow over the crew.

The crew is back on the sandy beach, watching the giant colorful eels swim away into the distance. Robin smiles and says, "Stunning... They were so friendly too." Usopp agrees, "Yeah..." Sanji, smoking a cigarette, adds, "...That was one hell of a sight." Zoro notes, "The legendary... Rainbow Eel Brothers." Suddenly, Nami yells angrily, "OH NO YOU DON'T!" as Usopp, Zoro, Sanji, and Luffy prepare to attack the retreating eels. Usopp cheers, "Alriiight! Let's call them one more time!" Robin asks, "Are they tasty?" and Chopper confirms, "Yes, I'm sure." Zoro draws his sword, asking, "How many pieces should I dice'em up into?" Sanji says, "Damn straight. I'll kill you on the spot." Luffy yells, "BUT I WON'T LET YOU ESCAPE NEXT TIME, GRUB!" The page ends with a title "Straw-Hats Theatre fin." and a small panel of an exhausted Luffy saying, "GIMME A BREAK!"

The chapter title is displayed: "Chapter 304 'Adventure on Long Island'". The Going Merry is sailing on the ocean. Suddenly, three massive sea monkeys emerge from the water right behind the ship, creating a towering wave. Luffy looks back in sheer panic, sweating profusely. He yells, "DID THEY FOLLOW US!? RUN FOR IT! SEA MONKEYS!" Voices from the crew shout in a panic, "Raise the sails! OH NO! THERE'S NO WIND! ROW! ROW ROOOOWW!" as the giant wave threatens to engulf the ship.

Usopp looks through his binoculars and spots something ahead. He yells, "SHIP SPOTTED STRAIGHT AT 12 O'CLOCK! EMER-GENCY REPORT! EMER-GENCY REPORT!" Sanji looks and says, "No, there's..." Luffy, looking stressed, complains, "Now of all times!? WHAT? ARE THEY ENEMIES!?" Sanji observes, "For some strange reason... There are hardly any crew members on board!" Usopp replies, "I don't know! But more improtantly..." A large galleon is shown drifting in the water. Luffy points out, "I have no idea what kind of ship it is...! There's no flag nor sail!" He continues to yell, "What are they even out on the seas for then!? What kinda ship doesn't have a flag or any sails!?"

The Straw Hats observe the strange ship. Usopp notes, "I CAN'T EVEN DETECT A FAINT WILL TO LIVE! AND THEY ALL LOOK SUPER DEPRESSED!" The crew on the other ship is shown sitting around listlessly, looking completely defeated. Sanji warns, "They're going to be swallowed by the waves at this rate!" Chopper asks, "Is that ship gonna be alright!?" Luffy wonders, "What's going on?" On the other ship, a pirate weakly notices, "HEY... IT'S A SHIP... AH... A PIRATE SHIP!" Luffy cups his hands and yells to them, "HEEEYYY! THERE'S A HUGE WAVE AND SOME MONKEYS HEADED YOUR WAY, Y'KNOW! GRAB YOUR HELM!"

The crew on the other ship starts panicking and arguing. One yells, "WHY DON'T YOU DO IT!?" Another retorts, "Hey, who d'ya think you're orderin' around!?" Someone shouts, "MAN THE CANNONS!" but another argues, "But that ship's gonna get away then!" Another voice cries, "NO, WAIT! THERE'S A HUGE WAVE COMING! WE GOTTA AVOID IT FIRST!" A pirate tries to rally them, "COME ON, SCALLYWAGS! UP ON YOUR FEET! IT'S AN ENEMY SHIP! LET'S GO STEAL THEIR TREASURE!" Others yell, "GRAB THE HELM! THE HELM! HEY, DON'T JUST DO WHATEVER YOU WANT!" They realize, "WE DON'T HAVE ONE! SOMEONE GIVE ORDERS! NAVIGATOR! HOW SHOULD I KNOW? Where's the helm!?" One pirate says, "They were talking about stealing our treasure so leave them be. They're enemies." Luffy watches them and remarks, "What a disorganized crew." The pirates continue, "THEN THE CAPTAIN! WE DON'T HAVE ONE!" Luffy looks confused, "???" The pirates argue further, "ARE YOU KIDDING ME!? WE CAN'T EVEN AVOID ONE WAVE!? WELL SO ARE YOU! Damnit, you're all useless!" A cannon fires randomly with a "BOOM!". Someone yells, "Hey! Who's the one that fired the cannon!?" As the massive wave crashes down on them, they scream, "IT'S TOO LATE! WE'RE GONNA BE SWALLOWED!"

The massive wave crashes over the disorganized pirate ship, completely engulfing it. The sea monkeys swim away, making "KEE! KEE!" sounds. The Going Merry manages to ride out the wave safely. Nami observes the weather, saying, "I think we may have already entered the climate region of the next island. Both the temperature and humidity have stabilized for a while now. Actually, the wave just now was due to the sea monkeys. Whew... Things calmed down at last..." She then calls out, "Hey Robin, can you see something?"

Luffy and Usopp are hanging off the front of the ship, excitedly yelling, "ISLAANNNND AHOOOYYYY, SCALLYWAGS! YAHOO!" Robin calmly says, "Now you try saying it. There's quite a thick fog." Usopp turns to her and scolds, "Listen here, you gloomy woman! When you spot an island, you yell like so:" Nami angrily yells at Robin, "TELL US THAT EARLIER!" Robin replies, "Yes, I've been seeing an island for a while now." Usopp asks, "By the way... Aren't you guys concerned about the ship earlier?" Robin apologizes, "Sorry, I'll be more careful next time." Usopp says, "Oh you will? Well then that's good." Nami tells Robin, "Do you have any idea how much we look forward to the next island." Robin smiles, "Sure thing!" Nami then instructs Chopper, "Fog? That can be dangerous. Chopper, can I trust you to keep a close eye ahead of the bow?" Zoro theorizes about the other ship, "They must have had a battle with some other pirates and lost. They must have lost their captain in that fight. As well as a lot of other things..." Usopp adds, "They had nothing to qualify them as a pirate crew! No motivation, no coordination... No flag, no sails, They didn't have a captain or a navigator..."

Luffy dismisses the concern, "Then they must not be pirates.... Don't sweat it." Sanji points out, "And yet there weren't any of the essential items or crew needed for a pirate crew on that ship!" Usopp argues, "There wasn't a single sign that they'd been in a fierce battle! No, that's the thing! I took a close look at their ship!" Nami excitedly asks, "Is there a town on the island!? It'd be great if there's a dockyard! Luffy, you can't just disembark carelessly as soon as we get there!" Sanji sighs, "So it's the same as always." Usopp shivers, "I'm getting a baaad feeling... Mn... They definitely looked like pirates though..." Nami announces, "The island's becoming visible!" Sanji notices Usopp trembling and says, "Chopper, looks like Usopp's 'Can't-land-on-island-itis' is acting up again. I can't cure that." Usopp groans, "UGH... GUYS, LISTEN TO ME... NGHH..." Chopper looks ahead and says, "I see the shore! Get ready to lower the anchor! I wonder if a good shipwright will join us...?" Luffy cheers, "Right."

The Going Merry is anchored near the shore of the new island. The landscape is a vast, flat, grassy plain with incredibly tall, thin trees scattered about. Luffy yells, "THERE'S NOTHING!" Zoro looks around and says, "It's empty plains in every direction. What kind of dangers could there be?" Nami complains, "Jeez... How can they just go out recklessly onto an island we don't know anything about?" Luffy and Usopp are already running through the grass. Usopp yells, "HEY!" and Luffy cheers, "WOOHOO! IT'S A HUGE GRASS PLAIN!" Robin wonders, "I wonder if any humans live on this island..." Sanji sighs, "Sigh... What a boring-looking place." Luffy looks out over the landscape and exclaims, "WHAT IS THIS PLACE!? WHOAAA! IT'S JUST PLAINS AS FAR AS I CAN SEE...!"

Usopp stops and says, "Huh...!?" Luffy asks, "What is it, Cho-" Chopper screams, "WHOAA!" They are staring at a bear, but it is incredibly tall and stretched out, walking on long, thin legs. Chopper gasps, "Wha!?" Luffy points to a tree and says, "Hey, look! This is an apple! But slim! Delish!" as he prepares to eat a very long apple. Usopp yells, "DON'T EAT IT!" Chopper observes, "Even the trees here are super lanky." Usopp stammers, "I-It's so long! The bear is looonnng!" Luffy states, "That's a bear!" Usopp argues, "Don't be stupid! How could there be such a furry human!?" Luffy asks, "A human?"

Luffy wonders, "I wonder if there are any shipwrights?" Chopper asks, "Is there someone living here?" Usopp points ahead and says, "You're right! Guys, look! Isn't that a house?" Luffy says, "Hm?" They see more incredibly long animals: a very long deer and a very long dog walking through the plains. A long bird flies overhead. They approach the house Usopp spotted.

They arrive at a large, wide, yurt-like tent. Usopp yells, "W-WHAT'RE YOU JUST BARGING IN FOR!?" as Luffy shouts, "HELLO THERE! PARDON US, COMING THROUGH!" Chopper wonders, "What kind of island is this...?" Usopp says, "I feel like I'm becoming longer just by looking at them." Chopper adds, "Everything here... Is so looonnnggg... Why're they so long!?" Luffy calls out, "HEEYYY! LUFFY! USOPP! Chopper?" Usopp says, "Hm?" Chopper notes, "There's no one here..." Usopp nervously suggests, "I'm sure he's some sort of devilish, super long snake-man!" Luffy excitedly says, "WAITWAITWAIT! This must be the lair of this island's boss!" They notice an animal outside. Chopper asks, "Are you a horse?" Luffy says, "A long white horse." Usopp corrects him, "It's not a giraffe... Its neck is long, but it's a white horse." Luffy yells, "AHH! It's a giraffe!"

The animal is indeed a very tall, long-necked white horse. Chopper translates, "She says her name is Sherry. She's a girl. If she has a saddle, there must be someone here." Luffy admires it, "What a pretty horse!" Usopp calls out, "Usopp..." Luffy replies, "Yeah..." Usopp points and says, "You see that bamboo tree growing there?" Chopper asks, "What's wrong, Luffy?" Usopp explains, "No look carefully. This bamboo tree.." They look up at an incredibly tall bamboo stalk. Usopp marvels, "Whoa... I can't even see the top! How tall is this tree!?"

Suddenly, the bamboo tree bends down rapidly. Usopp yells, "AGHH! IT RAN AWAY! WHA!?" He asks, "Are you alright!?" Luffy groans, "NGH! Aghh! The bamboo attacked Luffy! OOF! This must be another long creature! I'm sure of it!" Luffy prepares to fight back, stretching his leg back. He yells, "WHIP! GOMU GOMU NO... AS IF I'D LOSE TO A TREE!" Usopp warns, "WATCH OUT, LUFFY!"

Luffy's kick connects, snapping the giant bamboo tree in half. He cheers, "HA! BROKE YOU LIKE A TWIG!" Usopp praises him, "YOU BEAT IT! WAY TO GO!" Meanwhile, Chopper is talking to the long horse, Shelly. He says, "You look lonely......You don't know? Where is your master?"

The top half of the broken bamboo tree crashes to the ground with a massive explosion of dust. Luffy asks, "What happened!?" Usopp stammers, "Well, I..." Chopper panics, "IT MIGHT BE AN ENEMY! YOU JUST STAY THERE AND HIDE!" From the dust cloud emerges an old man with a very long mustache, who had apparently been on top of the bamboo tree. He says, "I split a bamboo tree in half, And out came a spirit.* *refers to Tale of the Bamboo Cutter HUFF... HUFF..."

Back at the Going Merry, Nami, Sanji, Robin, and Zoro are confronted by a massive pirate ship that has pulled up alongside them. Nami asks, "What're they planning...!?" Sanji challenges them, "If you want a fight, then come down here and get some!" Zoro demands, "Who the hell are you!?" Zoro yells, "COME DOWN THIS INSTANT! I'LL TAKE ANY OF YOU ON!" Sanji notices, "Confined!" Nami realizes, "Our ship's been..." The Going Merry is surrounded by large wooden structures. On the shore, three figures stand before them: Foxy, Porche, and Hamburg. Foxy announces, "WE ARE THE FOXY PIRATES. DON'T GET HASTY. WHAT WE SEEK... IS A MATCH."
