Egghead's Research Stratum

Law battles Blackbeard on Winner Island while Blackbeard laughs, "Ze ha ha ha ha!!" and declares, "There's no escape, so don't bother runnin'!!" The caption calls it "A battle that shakes the world!" Law orders, "Hakugan!! Take care of the Polar Tang!!" and the Heart Pirates answer, "On it!" with Shachi and Penguin told to get in the sea and provide cover. Law attacks with "R-Room... Amputate!!" and slices Stronger and Blackbeard in midair. Burgess reacts, "No one told me his power could do that!! Is he usin' an awakened technique?!" Blackbeard counters with "Quake Crash!!" and the island and sea shake violently.

Blackbeard's quake power sends shock waves through the island. People shout, "The shock waves are too intense!!" and "So this is the power of a quake man...!!" Doc Q worries, "Argh... don't die on me now, Stronger... You've always been such a good boy." Blackbeard's crew fires apple bombs, and someone warns, "They're apple bombs!! Take cover!!" Doc Q tosses one with "Eat this!" and the explosive fruit falls toward the battlefield.

An apple bomb explodes with a huge "BOOM!!" and the battlefield erupts. Jean Bart calls, "Jean Bart! Sniper at three o'clock!!" and shields Law from Van Augur's shot. Van Augur says, "Puaah! It's a big mistake to underestimate us when we grew up in the harsh cold waters of the North Blue!! You ain't got a chance against us in a sea battle! All we gotta do is sink your ship...!!" The Heart Pirates shout, "Protect the captain!!" and rush to defend Law. Van Augur notes, "Tch... He's some bodyguard."

Law lands a direct awakened attack on Blackbeard: "Shock Wille!" Blackbeard reels and coughs, "Koff!" while his crew reacts, "The hell is this?!" Law's blade pierces through him and discharges with a massive impact. Van Augur, seeing Blackbeard overextend, says, "This is what happens when you charge in half-cocked... Warp!" and teleports to support him.

Van Augur asks, "Shall we return to the ship, Commodore?" but Blackbeard refuses: "Don't be an idiot! We finish what we start! Ze ha ha!!" Blackbeard appears in front of Law and the Heart Pirates, and someone shouts, "Blackbeard's here!!" Law asks, "Do all your officers have Devil Fruit powers?" Blackbeard answers that they call them Devil Fruits for a reason and that the weakness is worth the trade-off. Law observes that it must be a pretty raw deal, "hauling around so many anchors!"

The Blackbeard Pirates attack the Polar Tang from below. The Heart Pirates shout, "Gwaaah!! They're attackin' from below!" and "The bastards are tryin' to sink us!!" Blackbeard's crew is surprised: "Who knew they were so strong underwater?!" Inside a cell on Blackbeard's ship, Charlotte Pudding is held captive. A prisoner says, "We might be takin' a poundin' now!" and another says, "But they'll be history soon! The commodore's the strongest around!" Pudding responds, "Mama's gonna make you eat those words if she's still alive...!! New eras only happen when the old legends are torn down!" The prisoners laugh that she is now fighting her mother's killer.

Law and Blackbeard clash again. Blackbeard uses "Black Vortex!" and the narration states that Blackbeard and Trafalgar Law have made contact on Winner Island in the New World. Elsewhere, Akainu receives the report and fumes, "So we're forced to wait again... Being fleet admiral... is so damn frustrating!!" The page leaves the outcome of the fight unresolved while emphasizing that the Navy can only watch events unfold.

Meanwhile on Egghead, the Island of the Future, the Pacifista stops once Luffy, Bonney, Jinbe, and Chopper change clothes. Luffy is temporarily aged to a possible future and labeled "Luffy aged 70." Chopper says, "Wow, the Pacifista stopped as soon as we changed...!!" Jinbe asks Bonney if she had to make him this old, and Chopper asks, "Hey, can you turn me back?" Jinbe says Kuma may no longer be human, but it cannot be easy for Bonney to face a doppelganger of her father. Luffy says, "Have a heart, Luffy! Sorry, Bonney. Pacifistas just bring up some bad memories for us." Bonney understands but says it only looks like her dad and that they cannot take any of them out or they will be in trouble.

Bonney tells Luffy's group about Kuma. Jinbe says, "Nothing personal, Bonney... but what I know about Kuma doesn't paint a pretty picture. He was the tyrannical king of Sorbet... before he was deposed by the people and forced to become a pirate. When he was eventually caught by the Navy, his ties to the Revolutionaries came to light... and they gave him a life sentence. Vegapunk took an interest in him due to his physical prowess, so he was offered the opportunity to roam the seas again as a Warlord... on the condition that he become a specimen... for body modification and cloning!!" Bonney asks if that covers it, then says she understands why he would choose to be a Warlord and help make clone soldiers, but asks, "Why would anyone knowingly agree to become a mindless cyborg...?! Anyone can see it's just as bad as a death sentence!!"

Bonney rejects the official story that Kuma was a tyrant, insisting, "Daddy was no stinkin' tyrant!! And he hated the Government! He'd never submit to them!! They must've forced him to accept the procedures somehow!" Jinbe says it is true that tyrant Kuma's crimes earned him his life sentence, but wonders which crime did it. Bonney answers, "He may call himself a scientist, but to me he's just a murderer!" Luffy and Chopper find discarded gear in Vegapunk's scrap, with Luffy admiring, "A beam saber?! That's awesome!" Bonney says her father always told her he was part of a very special race, but says that being different does not justify forcing him to be a lab rat and killing him.

The Thousand Sunny is carried through the air by Vega Force 01. The crew screams, "Woooaaaah!! We're flying!!" and "The robot's soaring through the air!" Lilith explains, "Naturally, this is Vega Force 01 after all! Its anti-grav unit and jet thrusters... allows it to easily sustain this propulsion." Usopp asks, "Anti-grav?!" Lilith says the Island Aircon is also needed to ensure a suitable climate and that one day this will be possible anywhere. Franky is amazed: "It's like some kind of futuristic city!!" Lilith answers, "Precisely! The world of tomorrow is built here!" The crew sees giant monsters below and the island's impossible technology.

Lilith presents Egghead's layout: "This is Egghead, the Island of the Future!! The research stratum is right above the clouds, and the fabrication stratum is just below us. Our manufacturers and research assistants reside there." She hears that the captain is causing a hullabaloo below and says it is fine as long as he is all right. The crew arrives at the main lab entrance while Luffy's group on the fabrication stratum reacts as if they are on a sky island. Lilith explains that Egghead recreates island and sea clouds by controlling the island's atmosphere and using pyrobloin to coagulate and alter water vapor. She says, "This is the entrance to the main lab!" and tells the crew to use a lever and change into appropriate attire before entering, promising custom clothes from the dressing transformation room.

The Straw Hats try on futuristic Egghead outfits. Franky says, "Woooahh!! This is awesome!! These futuristic duds are the freakin' best!" Sanji says Nami and Robin look amazing, while Nami calls the fashion cutting-edge and Robin says she looks tough in it. Zoro and Brook remain behind to watch the ship, with Zoro saying, "Nah, I'll watch the ship," and Brook adding, "Ditto." Inside the lab, Shaka speaks with another person. The voice asks, "Is that you? Can see your own future coming too. What are you talking about, Vegapunk?" Shaka replies, "The problem with being a genius... is that you can see your own future coming too. I think... I'll be dead soon. Don't kid about something like that." Shaka says, "I just wanted you to know about this... Dragon!!"
