RECKLESS

A pirate shouts, "AHOY! FIRST MATE MOHJI'S BACK!" Mohji, looking heavily beaten, bruised, and exhausted, crawls on the ground, panting "WUF WUF". He struggles to speak, saying, "S-SORRY... CAPTAIN... I'VE GOT TO TELL HIM THAT THE KID IS A RUBBER MAN..." and "...THE KID... CAP'N... BUGGY..." Buggy looks shocked, exclaiming, "THE KID!? THE KID IN THE STRAW HAT BEAT YOU!? NOT ZOLO!?" Mohji continues to crawl forward, panting "WUP WUP", and says, "THE KID......UNDER... ESTIMATED HIM. G-GOT TO TELL HIM... CAP'N... SIR... BEWARE... THE RUB-" Mohji then collapses face-first onto the ground with a "FWUMP", muttering "...MAN...". Next to him, his giant pet lion Richie is also collapsed on the ground, panting "WORB WORB" and muttering "...RUB...!!".

Buggy's crew members discuss Mohji's cryptic warning. One asks, "WHAT'D HE SAY?" Another notes, "MOHJI WAS TRYING TO TELL US SOME-THING." A third adds, "HE COULD BARELY STAND! MUST HAVE BEEN IMPORTANT..." Another repeats, ""BEWARE THE RUB!?"" and the last wonders, "WHAT KIND OF RUB COULD DO THAT TO A MAN!?" Buggy ponders the situation, saying, "HMM... THAT BOY MUST HAVE USED SOME DIABOLICAL RUBBING TECHNIQUE ON HIM...!" A crew member nearby exclaims, "AR! THE SKIP-PER'S GOT IT!" Buggy suddenly becomes enraged, his face filling the panel as he yells, "DARN YOU, MOHJI! BEATEN BY A MASSEUR?! IF THIS GETS OUT, OUR REPU-TATION'S SCUTTLED!" Buggy then orders his crew, "LOAD THE BUGGY BALLS, YOU SWABS!! WE'VE A TOWN TO DESTROY!!" The crew responds enthusiastically, "AYE AYE, CAP'N BUGGY!" In the background, Mohji remains passed out on the ground, weakly muttering, "RUBBER MAN...".

A narration box reads, "THE REFUGE OF THE TOWNS-PEOPLE". In a grassy area with tents and a wooden fence, the small dog Chouchou walks towards the gathered townspeople with "TMP TMP TMP" sound effects. Someone notices and says, "WHAT'S THAT!?" Another person recognizes him, shouting, "HEY! IT'S CHOUCHOU FROM THE PET FOOD SHOP!" A man with glasses kneels down to greet Chouchou, who is carrying a box of dog food in his mouth. The man says, "WE'RE GLAD YOU'RE OKAY, BOY! WE WERE WORRIED ABOUT YOU." Another man says, "IT'S CHOUCHOU!" A third man observes, "HE'S HURT BAD. CURSED PIRATES! LET'S TAKE CARE OF HIS WOUNDS." The townspeople gather around, murmuring "MURMUR MURMUR". An older man asks, "BUT WHERE'S THE MAYOR?" The man with glasses wonders, "WHAT'S CHOUCHOU DOING HERE WITHOUT HIM?" Another man adds, "THAT'S RIGHT...! MAYOR BOODLE WENT TO FEED CHOUCHOU."

In the refuge camp, the townspeople are gathered together, looking worried as a "MURMUR MURMUR" sound effect fills the air. One person asks, "YOU DON'T THINK SOMETHING HAPPENED TO THE MAYOR?" Another replies, "THIS ISN'T GOOD..." A third volunteers, "I'LL GO FIND HIM!" A man with a mustache and a plaid shirt interjects, "NOW DON'T GO OFF HALF-COCKED! THE MAYOR'S TOO CLEVER TO LET HIMSELF GET CAPTURED." Another townsperson adds, "HE KNOWS THIS TOWN BETTER THAN ANYONE." The man with the mustache continues, "BUT HE ALSO CARES ABOUT THE TOWN MORE THAN ANYONE. MAYBE TOO MUCH." A flashback shows Boodle carrying a small sack. A townsperson tells him, "DON'T TAKE ANY UNNECESSARY RISKS NOW, MAYOR." Boodle replies, "WHAT MATTERS IS THAT WE'RE ALL SAFE. AS LONG AS WE ALL SURVIVE, WE CAN REBUILD THIS TOWN." He adds, "I KNOW, I KNOW. I'M JUST GOING TO FEED CHOUCHOU!" Back in the present, the man with the mustache says, "I WARNED HIM NOT TO TAKE ANY RISKS. I JUST HOPE HE HEARD ME." Meanwhile, in the empty streets of Orange Town, Nami and Luffy are walking together. A "STP" sound effect accompanies their footsteps. Nami looks back over her shoulder as a question mark bubble appears from behind a nearby building.

Nami turns to Luffy with a friendly smile, holding up a hand apologetically. "SORRY I YELLED AT YOU!" she says. Luffy looks at her blankly and simply replies, "HUH?" As they continue walking down the street, Nami says, "THAT'S OKAY. I KNOW YOU LOST SOMEONE TO PIRATES." She looks ahead with a slightly smug but sympathetic expression, adding, "I UNDERSTAND..." and "NOT THAT I WANT TO HEAR THE DETAILS OR ANYTHING..." Luffy walks beside her, looking at her. In the background behind them, Boodle is standing completely still, staring at the ground. Suddenly, Boodle throws his arms up in the air and screams at the top of his lungs, "AAAAH!!" He yells, "I CAN'T STANDS IT NO MORE!!!" Nami and Luffy turn around in shock, with Nami exclaiming, "HUH!?" A close-up of Boodle's face shows him gritting his teeth in intense frustration, tears streaming down his face as he growls, "UNGRRRR!!"

Boodle stands in the street, clenching his fist with tears flying from his eyes. He yells passionately, "I CAN'T STAND ANY MORE OF THEIR CRUEL BULLYING! NOT AFTER THE WAY CHOUCHOU AND THIS KID FOUGHT BACK SO BRAVELY!" He continues, "WHAT KIND OF MAYOR STANDS BACK AND WATCHES HIS TOWN BE DESTROYED!?" Nami and Luffy watch his outburst from a few steps away. Nami holds her hands out defensively, trying to placate the furious mayor. "MAYOR, PLEASE! CALM DOWN!" she pleads. A dramatic close-up shows Boodle yelling with intense conviction, "SOMETIMES A MAN'S GOTTA DO WHAT A MAN'S GOTTA DO!" He looks directly forward and asks, "ISN'T THAT RIGHT, SONNY?" A large "BWAAH!" sound effect emphasizes his powerful declaration. The page ends with a close-up of Luffy, who is grinning widely. He agrees enthusiastically, shouting, "THAT'S RIGHT!!" and "YOU SAID IT, OLD MAN!!" A large "DOOM" sound effect appears behind his head, matching his energetic response.

LET ME GO, GIRLIE!". Nami pleads with him, "GETTING YOURSELF KILLED WON'T ACCOMPLISH ANYTHING! YOU'RE BEING RECKLESS!!". The middle of the page features a massive, intense close-up of Boodle's face, his eyes wide and veins bulging. A gigantic "BAM" sound effect explodes behind him as he screams at the top of his lungs, "I KNOW I'M BEING RECKLESS!!!!". The bottom of the page shows three separate reaction panels. On the left, Zoro looks on with a serious, focused expression. In the center, Luffy also wears a serious, unblinking stare. On the right, Nami looks completely stunned, a small exclamation mark bubble floating next to her head.

Boodle sprints away toward the town, his spear raised high. A large "ARGHHH!" sound effect trails above him, and "TMP TMP TMP TMP TMP" sound effects follow his rapid footsteps. He shouts a challenge: "BUGGY THE CLOWN!! PREPARE TO FACE THE MAYOR!". In the next panel, Nami and Luffy watch him run off. Nami looks deeply concerned, noting, "THE MAYOR......HE WAS CRYING!!". Luffy, however, smiles slightly and replies, "IT DIDN'T LOOK THAT WAY TO ME!". In the bottom right panel, Zoro walks up behind them while Luffy grins and laughs, "THINGS ARE FINALLY GONNA GET FUN! HA HA HA! YEAH!". Nami turns toward them, irritated, and scolds, "THIS IS NO LAUGHING MATTER!". The final panel is a close-up of Luffy, sporting a wide, determined grin. He reassures them, saying, "DON'T WORRY, I LIKE THAT OLD MAN! I WON'T LET HIM GET KILLED!".

In the bottom panel, Nami holds up her hand with a sly smile. A large "SWAP!" sound effect appears behind her. She proposes, "LET'S JUST SAY WE'LL 'JOIN FORCES'... WORK TOGETHER FOR A COMMON GOAL!!".

On the roof of the pub, Buggy's crew is preparing the cannon. One pirate shouts, "NOW FOR THE SECOND SALVO!". Another replies, "AYE AYE, CAP'N!". A third commands, "AIM! FI--". Suddenly, down in the street, Boodle stands defiantly in front of the "Drinker Pub", holding his spear. He interrupts them, yelling, "BUGGY THE CLOWN!!! GET OUT HERE! NOW!!!". A large "BA-BAM!!" sound effect emphasizes his challenge. In the bottom panels, a silhouette of Buggy's head with his prominent round nose is shown with a "NEEN" sound effect. Buggy, looking furious and surprised, demands, "WHO DARES?".

In the street, Zoro prepares to join the fight while Nami looks at him in surprise and asks, "YOU'RE COMING TOO? WHAT ABOUT YOUR WOUNDS?". Zoro casually replies, "THEY GOT BETTER." Luffy, watching from the side, says, "THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE!". A close-up shows Zoro tying his bandana around his head with a sharp "SKRRK!!" sound effect.
