The Courtesan Komurasaki Takes the Stage

A massive double-page color spread gathers nearly every major One Piece character in a chaotic celebratory collage. Luffy sits front and center in his red shirt, fist extended toward the viewer with a determined grin. Nami cheers with arms raised beside him, Sanji serves food on a tray, Chopper rides in his hat, and Robin sits nearby. Zoro, Usopp, Franky, Brook, Jinbe, and countless allies and rivals fill every inch of the background in dynamic poses. Large bold text at the bottom reads "JE VAIS VIVRE!!" A vertical strip on the right promotes the Vivre Card databook set.

In the Udon prison quarry of Wano Country, prisoners work under watchtowers while smoke rises from chimneys. Voices whisper nervously: "Shhhh! They'll hear you!" and "No matter where we go in the prison, those two are being talked about!" "Man... that was so satisfying to watch yesterday..." "Don't slack off!!!" A sign labels the area "THE QUARRY". Luffy, wearing a prisoner uniform and rope, turns with a surprised "HMI" as inmates react. One shouts "SIR STRAW HAT!!" Another asks which family he belongs to. Luffy replies that the guys are annoying. In the foreground, the massive Senior Prisoner Grandpa Hyou looms angrily, declaring "FOR SAVING MY LIFE YESTERDAY... MY WORDS CANNOT EXPRESS... HOW THANKFUL I AM TO YOU..." while another prisoner laughs "GYA HA HA HA HA! Good for you, Grandpa Hyou!! But you'll be kicking the bucket soon enough, though!!"

Luffy grins while handing over meal exchange tickets to a chained prisoner. "IF YOU DON'T EAT, YOU WON'T HAVE ENOUGH STRENGTH TO KEEP WORKING. HERE, TAKE THESE. YOUR MEAL EXCHANGE TICKETS!! THEY'LL NOTICE IF YOU GIVE ME THIS MANY!!" A small voice replies, "AH... YOU JUST HAPPENED TO BE THERE, THAT'S ALL. DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT." Luffy rustles through his bag as the prisoner accepts the tickets. In the next scene Luffy sits eating heartily while other prisoners react in shock: "LUFFY-DONO....!!" "WHAT A WEIRD GUY!!" "SHI SHI SHI!!" "YOU HAVE MY UTMOST THANKS." "YOU HAVE MY UTMOST THANKS." One prisoner clutches the tickets tightly, vowing "I WON'T LET THESE GO TO WASTE....!!" A massive horned figure looms over Luffy and declares, "IN ADDITION TO THE ACTUAL GUARDS, THE KEY ITSELF IS BEING STORED IN A SEASTONE BOX. IN ANY CASE... I WILL DEFINITELY RETRIEVE IT FOR YOU, SO PLEASE HOLD OUT FOR JUST A LITTLE WHILE LONGER. IT'S BEING HEAVILY GUARDED!! I MANAGED TO FIND THE KEY TO YOUR CUFFS, HOWEVER... MY APOLOGIES FOR MAKING YOU WAIT. RAIZO!! HOW'D IT GOI"

Luffy continues eating as Caribou looms behind him, drooling and begging, "SHIIRRRR... KEHIHIHI!! LET ME HAVE SOME, TOO... GIVE SOME KIBIDANGO... TO ME, TOO...!!" Luffy snaps, "YOU'RE NOT GETTING ANY. GO WORK FOR IT YOURSELF!" Caribou pleads, "IF YOU GIMME SOME KIBIDANGO, I'LL BE YOUR SUBORDINATE!" He continues, "I'VE BEEN IN THIS PRISON LONGER THAN YOU... SO I KNOW QUITE A BIT ABOUT THIS PLACE. OUR SEASTONE CUFFS HAVE BEEN MODIFIED TO BE SOMEWHAT WEAKER... SO THAT WE CAN WORK WHILE WEARING THEM... BUT I STILL CAN'T MOVE WELL IN THESE..." Other prisoners shout, "LET ME COME, TOO!! I'LL DO ANYTHING YOU ASK OF ME!" "YOU'RE PLANNING A PRISON-BREAK, AREN'T YA!I" "JUST GO AND TEAM UP WITH SPIKY-GUY!!" "IF WE TEAM UP, WE'LL HAVE NOTHING TO FEAR..." Caribou is slammed into the ground with a loud impact as prisoners react in horror. Speech bubbles discuss rumors: "...A RUMOURI" "AFTER THAT, HE TUCKED HIS TAIL AND RAN AWAY..." Caribou, now serious, explains, "ALL I DID WAS INJURE ONE OF HER SWEET COMMANDERS TO GET WHAT I WANTED....REGARDING THAT STORY ABOUT AIMING FOR BIG MOM'S HEAD..." In a dramatic close-up he roars, "NO WAY. IT'LL BE ME!! AND FROM HERE ONWARDS...!! I WILL TAKE DOWN KAIDOU MYSELF, AND GAIN ALL THE NOTORIETY FOR IT!!"

The scene shifts to the Flower Capital of Wano. A wide view of ornate buildings and lanterns shows excited citizens shouting, "IS PASSING THROUGH!!" "THE DAYU, KOMURASAKI..." "THE FLOWER CAPITAL-" Crowds gather as people exclaim, "I WONDER WHAT SORT OF A BEAUTY WILL BE PASSING THROUGH..." "THAT'S QUITE THE GATHERING..." "IT'S A COURTESAN PROCESSION...!!" "LADY KOMURASAKI IS COMING!!" In the street, a massive figure with a club turns and mutters, "KOMURASAKI...!!" while another cloaked man grips his swords and says, "KOMURASAKI..." A small reaction bubble reads "HMI" as the procession approaches amid falling petals and the sound effect "ドォォ...!!"

Troubled men scan the area, one warning, "THERE ARE SOME TROUBLE-SOME LOOKING GUYS OVER THERE." Another growls, "IF WE'RE GOING TO DIE EITHER WAY, THEN WE'RE GOING TO TAKE YOU DOWN WITH US...!!" A cloaked figure declares, "THIS IS THE END OF THE LINE...!!" while another brandishes a blade, shouting, "FORCES FROM THE CAPITAL ARE CHASING US... I'M GONNA KILL THAT WOMAN...!!" Suddenly, cries erupt: "KOMURASAKI!!!" A stern figure reacts with "!I" as a courtesan dashes through the streets amid lanterns and buildings, voices calling "A COURTESAN~" and "LADY KOMURASAKI~" with "DASH..." A violent clash follows, blades and impacts flying as figures tumble in combat.

Komurasaki stands in profile as a man yells, "KOMURASAKI..." A figure with a massive weapon swings wildly, roaring, "STAY AWAY FROM THE COURTESAN!!" while sound effects "HMMPH!!" and "ガチャン!!" ring out. In a quiet room, Komurasaki speaks softly: "IF... IF I'M GOING TO END UP BELONGING TO MASTER OROCHI... THEN I'D RATHER YOU BE THE ONE TO FREE ME INSTEAD..." She continues, "TO BE WITH YOU FOREVER... I WANT..." A man sweats, replying, "HUH... WITH AN OLD GUY LIKE ME...I" The narration notes the courtesan custom. Later panels show an elderly man pleading, "REALLYI EVEN IF YOU ARE LYING TO ME, I AM STILL SO HAPPY IN THIS MOMENT..." while another urges, "...DON'T LOSE HOPE!! IF THAT IS WHAT YOU DESIRE..." and "THEN I, BINGOU, WILL MAKE SURE IT HAPPENS!!" Komurasaki responds about the impossible dream and price on her.

An elderly man laughs heartily, "ONLY AN IDIOT WOULD DOUBT THE WOMAN THEY LOVE!!!" and "YOUR WORD IS ALL I NEED...!!" He insists, "THEN... LET'S PUT THIS IN WRITING!!" while counting stacks of money with "ガチャン!!" and declaring, "KOMURASAKI, THIS IS PART OF THE MONEY THAT WE WILL USE TO GET YOU OUT OF THE RED-LIGHT DISTRICT." Komurasaki watches as he continues, "I SOLD MY WAREHOUSE, KOMURASAKI!" and "THIS MUCH MONEY... AMAZING!" offering, "NOW, TAKE IT!! IT'S YOUR MONEY NOW!!" She replies, "OH, MY, YOU MAKE ME SO HAPPY." In close-up, she holds her face, saying, "WHERE WE WILL BE ABLE TO BE TOGETHER." and "YES... KOMURASAKI." The man beams, "I ALSO DREAM EVERY NIGHT... ABOUT THE DAY..." and "THE HAPPIEST PERSON IN THE WORLD!!" while coughing, "I SOLD MY FAMILY!! HAHA HA... COUGH COUGH..."

The elderly man continues coughing, "I'LL BE ABLE TO FREE YOU, KOMURASAKI!!!" and "I'VE GOT THE FINAL PAYMENT OF 500 GOLD...!!!" He declares, "I FINALLY HAVE ENOUGH...!!!" and "LET'S VENTURE OUT INTO THE WORLD AND START FROM NOTHING... IT'LL BE JUST THE TWO OF US!!" while Komurasaki worries about having no home to return to. A messenger arrives at a grand building, stating, "I WILL MAKE SURE SHE RECEIVES YOUR PACKAGE." and "AND PLEASE TELL HER TO REST WELL! I WILL COME BACK ANOTHER TIME." Inside, a figure in robes receives it. Later, the man bursts forward with "KOMURASAKI!!! I'VE COME TO PICK YOU UP!!" and "LET'S LIVE TOGETHER!!!" as sound effects "ばん" and reactions like "PFFT." and "HEH HEH!!" erupt around him.

An old man with a long beard laughs uproariously on the left, coughing as he shouts, "AH... HEY, YOU GUYS, DON'T JUST LAUGH, CALL HER OUT HERE!" while declaring "KOMURASAKI IS GOING TO BE WITH ME..." The central panel shows a grand building with crowds as voices cry "AAAAAHA!! HA HA HA HA!! HE REALLY DID IT!" and "THIS PERVERTED GEEZER SURE IS SOMETHING!!" A woman in ornate kimono appears, scolding the old man: "STOP DAY-DREAMING, YOU MORON!!" and "DO YOU EVEN HAVE ENOUGH MONEY TO BUY HER!I" The old man protests, "YOU SAID THAT IT WAS MINE, RIGHTI" as Komurasaki coolly replies, "...YOUR MONEY..." while the old man pleads to the crowd, "OOOOOH!! KOMURASAKI!!! TELL THESE GUYS. THEY DON'T KNOW ABOUT US...!!" A voice greets, "OH... HELLO, MR. BINGOU."

Komurasaki's close-up shows her saying "THANK YOU." with a heart as she adds, "I SPENT ALL OF IT." The old man stares in shock, eyes bulging, "HUHI" Nearby, a white-haired man mutters, "KOMURA-SAKI..." while wondering "WHO IS THAT SENILE GEEZER...I" A small figure in the background questions "HMMMI" The old man breaks down in tears, sobbing "KUH..." as laughter erupts: "PUHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! THAT GEEZER REALLY THOUGHT KOMURASAKI FELL IN LOVE WITH HIM!!" In the final panel, a hooded figure cries out desperately, "BOSS... BOSS KYOSHIRO..."

The old man wails, "HEY, KOMURA-SAKI! THIS IS A JOKE, RIGHT!I" and "...I SACRIFICED EVERYTHING FOR YOU!!! I DON'T HAVE A SINGLE THING LEFT!!!" while another voice accuses, "SO YOU'RE THE OLD GEEZER... THAT HAS BEEN STALKING KOMURASAKI..." The old man continues sobbing, "FOR YOUR SAKE... I LOST IT ALL!!!" A large bearded man threatens, "IF YOU CRY IN FRONT OF THE SHOP, GRAMPS... YOU'LL MAKE A SCENE..." and "THEN YOU GET LOST, YOU PERVERTED GEEZER!!" The old man begs, "STOP IT!! COUGH!! I'LL LEAVE, SO PLEASE STOP!!" as Komurasaki watches with a cold expression, murmuring "KOMURASAKI... COUGH..."

Komurasaki makes a grand entrance in an elaborate kimono as crowds react wildly: "HER BEAUTY IS BLINDING!! I CAN'T SEE!!" "KYAAAAA AHHH!! SHE'S STUNNING!!" and "HOW DAZ-ZLING!!" The old man collapses, still crying "KOMURA-SAKI...!" A young girl with a box, Toko, grins widely while narrating, "THE DAYU, KOMURA-SAKI... IS PASSING THROUGH!!" Komurasaki speaks coldly: "TO ME, MEN ARE NOTHING MORE THAN DOGS THAT BRING ME MONEY...!!" and "WITHOUT MONEY, THEY ARE WORTHLESS TO ME." The old man pleads, "GIVE ME BACK MY MONEY!! YOU THIEVING WOMAN!!!" A sign reads "WANO COUNTRY'S NO.1 PROSTITUTE THE COURTESAN, KOMURASAKI" as the procession continues.

Komurasaki holds a fan to her face and declares with a heart-shaped flourish, "THOSE WHO ARE POOR." She continues coldly, "...I DESPISE..." The crowd reacts in shock. "HUH!I" someone cries as armed men rush forward shouting, "WE WON'T LET YOU ESCAPE THIS TIME." Close-ups show furious, tear-streaked faces screaming with rage. In the capital, a massive gate opens beneath a pagoda as attendants announce, "THE DAYU, KOMURA-SAKI, HAS ARRIVED!!" and "OPEN THE GATES!!" A desperate voice pleads, "PLEASE STOP!!" while enforcers declare, "IN THE NAME OF SHOGUN OROCHI, YOU ARE ALL EXILED FROM THIS CITY!!" and "THOSE WITHOUT WEALTH HAVE NO RIGHT TO LIVE IN THE CAPITAL!!" Another adds, "THOSE WHO LIVE OUTSIDE OF THE CAPITAL CANNOT EVEN BE CALLED HUMAN!!" An enraged man roars, "DAMN IT ALL!! GO BURN IN HELL, KOMURA-SAKI!!!" as chaos erupts with smoke and fleeing figures.

In the forest village of Kuri-Amigasa, Tama asks, "DO YOU KNOW WHO I AMI" A boy snaps, "HEY, TAMA! HOW RUDE!" Momonosuke wonders, "MOMO, DID YOU SAY YOU HAD A SISTERI" Tama replies thoughtfully, "YES, I DO HAVE A SISTER...!!! IF SHE IS STILL ALIVE, THEN SHE SHOULD BE 26 NOW." with a sigh, "SIGH... NEVER MIND...!!!" The boy muses, "I SEE. IT WOULD BE NICE IF YOU COULD MEET HER." Tama answers firmly, "NO, WE CANNOT MEET YET." He continues, "THAT SHE IS ALIVE SOMEWHERE!!" and "...THAT IS WHY I BELIEVE..." while another figure notes, "EVEN THOUGH THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO WITNESSED MY MOTHER'S DEATH..." and "I HAVEN'T HEARD A THING ABOUT HIYORI'S DEATH." The boy trains intensely, declaring, "OUR MEETING CAN ONLY HAPPEN ONCE WE WIN THIS WAR!!" and "IF OROCHI WERE TO FIND OUT ABOUT HIYORI... THEN HE WOULD DEFINITELY TARGET HER!!"
