An alternate color variant of the Volume 40 cover shows the same composition with altered coloring. Luffy reaches forward with open palm, Franky poses confidently, and supporting characters fill the scene. The background features a sepia-toned world map. Two massive helmeted giants loom over the scene, grinning. One declares, "YEAH KAASHII, I THINK SO TOO." The other adds, "BUT YOU SHOULD GO HOME 'FORE I CRUSH YA, RIGHT, OIMO!I" and "I DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING HERE..." Smaller characters react in panic: "THEY'RE HUGE...!!! THE MONSTROUS STRENGTH DEATH TRIO LOOKS CUTE COMPARED TO THEM...!!!", "THAT'S NOT FAIR!", "G... GIANTS FOR GATE-KEEPERS...!!!", and "WE'LL CRUSH YA 'TIL YOUR BONES ARE ALL FLAT!!!". Below, Franky Family members charge the giants. Franky yells, "NOW, GO HOME!! WE WON'T LET YOU THROUGH!!" while swinging a massive weapon. Allies shout, "DON'T COWER AWAY, WHATEVER THE ENEMY, FRANKY FAMILY!!!", "THEY'RE COMING!!!", "YUP!!!", and "FOR BRO!!!" as impact sounds "グォ" and "オオ" erupt.

The Franky Family presses the assault. One member with long hair and a hat gasps, "UH-HUH!!" Another in a star cap replies, "YEAH." The curly-haired fighter shouts, "HEY!! YOU KNOW WHAT TO DOI" Narration declares, "THE STRENGTH WE GOT FROM DISMANTLING WON'T BE FAR OFF FROM THE GIANTS!!!" and "WE'RE THE ONLY ONES WHO CAN GO IN!!!" The giants loom as one yells, "MONSTROUS STRENGTH DEATH TRIO!!!" In the lower panels the long-haired man roars, "DARAAA!!!" while the star-capped fighter screams, "URAAAAA!!" and the curly-haired one cries, "GO!!!" amid massive impact effects "ボゥ!" and "ドォン!!".

A massive impact erupts as a giant round-bodied warrior is struck from behind, his body twisting violently with debris flying everywhere. The attacker, a muscular figure with a spiked weapon, presses the assault. In the next instant the giant retaliates with a sweeping arm strike that sends the weapon-wielder crashing through structures. A third small figure wearing a star-patterned helmet and shield is hurled backward by the force, landing hard amid swirling dust and impact lines. Large sound effects punctuate every blow: massive crashes and explosive bursts fill the panels as the three fighters collide in a chaotic melee.

Two towering giants loom over the battlefield. One declares, "THAN SOME HUMANS WHO ARE BIGGER THAN USUAL!!" The other adds, "WE HAVE A DIFFERENT KIND OF BLOOD..." and "WE'RE NATURAL-BORN FIGHTERS!!" Below, Oimo charges forward shouting "OIMO*!!!" while the giants roar, "WE WON'T LET A SINGLE ONE OF YOU PASS!!!" Franky Family members surge ahead, one yelling "GIVE THEM A SHAMELESS FIGHT, IN THE NAME OF BRO!! FRANKY FAMILY!!!!" Another cries "OH!!!" and "OUR BRO, FRANKY, IS ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE GATE!!!" A voice encourages, "H... HERE!! DON'T BE SCARED!!! KEEP YOUR MORALE UP!!!" In the distance the three giants are shown defeated in an instant, with onlookers gasping "THE... THE THREE OF THEM..." and "DEFEATED IN AN INSTANT......"

At the massive gate, a voice calls "IT'S DONE, LET'S GO!!!" while another asks "ARE YOU READYI" The giants press the attack, one bellowing "WE WON'T ALLOW ANYONE TO PASS THROUGH THE GATE —!!!" Franky Family fighters clash violently; one giant is struck and sent flying with the cry "OO-WAAH!!!" A massive explosion rocks the area as the Rocket Man bursts through, prompting shouts of "WOO OOO OAH!!!" and "WE HAVE TO OPEN THE DOOR AND LET THE ROCKET MAN PASS!!" Another warns "WE CAN'T LOSE!!!" Below, a Franky Family member curses "DAMN!!! WE CAN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT THESE MONSTERS!!!" while others react with shock and panic.

The defeated giants lie sprawled as a voice reports "THE TRIO WAS BEATEN!!!" Franky Family members rush to act, one shouting "TO GET SODOM AND GOMORRAH ONTO DRY LAND THAN EXPECTED!!!" Another apologizes "SORRY WE'RE LATE!! IT TOOK A LITTLE LONGER..." The group rallies with cries of "LET'S GO!!" "YEAH!" "THEY WERE OUR BEST GUYS!!!" and "DON'T LOSE YOUR COOL." On the other side a massive clash erupts as a giant warrior swings a huge weapon, yelling "OUT OF THE WAY, YOU OVER-GROWN DOOR-STOPS!!!" while the Franky Family and allies are sent flying amid debris and impact effects. Voices cry out in alarm: "GALLEY-LA!!!" "ZANBAI!! MOZUI!! KIWI!!!" "KAASHII!!!" and "GYA AAA!!!"

A massive blade slices through the underside of a ship in a devastating cut. "SHIP'S BOTTOM DISMANTLING CUT!!" someone yells as the structure begins to collapse. Below, a fighter with goggles and a harness yanks hard on ropes. "OOOW OWOW OWOW!!!" he grunts with effort. "TIMBER HITCH TUG!!!" The ropes snap tight. Nearby, a man with a tall hat reacts in shock. "OH!!I" A voice calls out, "ROPE ACTION..." Explosions and debris erupt as the ship breaks apart. "!!!!" In the chaos, a large figure with a star-patterned outfit pulls a lever. "CH-CHK!!"

The massive fighter with a wild mane and goggles is slammed violently. "KAA SHII!!!" he roars as debris flies. "OO-GAAH!!!" Another combatant with a braided beard locks in a hold. "TREE-NAIL LOCK!!!" A voice commands, "GET THEM!!!" Below, the goggled man swings a massive hammer. "OW OWOW!!!" The enormous helmeted figure looms with an open-mouthed grin as the structure crumbles around them.

The helmeted giant glares and mutters, "you..." The goggled fighter sticks out his tongue defiantly. "ベーーーっ!!" The wild-maned fighter crashes through wreckage. "GYAH!!!" he cries as the goggled man declares, "I'LL CRUSH YA!!!" A close-up shows the goggled fighter's face twisted in pain. "CRUNCH!" "KA... KA... KAASHI!!!" The helmeted giant reacts with wide eyes. "OO-WOAH!!!"

The goggled fighter and a star-jacketed ally celebrate atop the wreckage. "ONE MORE TO GO!!!" the goggled man shouts while his partner pumps a fist. "YES! ONE DOWN!!!" Elsewhere, a small dinosaur-like creature drags something as a voice asks, "WHAT'S GOING ONI" The helmeted giant yells, "DAMN YOU!!" In a stone room, a masked blond man reports via Den Den Mushi. "SIR!!!" "... I SEE. HAVE YOU CAPTURED THE STRAW HATI" "I DON'T BELIEVE THERE'LL BE ANY PROBLEM!!" "HOLDING THEM OFF AT THE FRONT GATE!" "SIR! KAASHII AND OIMO ARE CURRENTLY..." The masked man replies, "ER... THE ESTIMATE IS... ABOUT 400." A shocked voice answers, "400I WHAT'RE YOU TALKING ABOUT!I"

A massive chaotic melee erupts inside a circular chamber as dozens of Marines and fighters clash in a swirling storm of fists, blades, and bodies. Marines in caps marked MARINE scream and swing weapons while others are hurled through the air. A huge impact SFX "GII-YAAA AAAAAA!!!!!" erupts from the left as a fighter is launched backward. On the right, bold lettering declares "STORM!!!!!". In the lower right, a bloodied Marine officer looks up desperately and shouts, "IT'S THE DAMAGE REPORT, SIR!!!" The entire scene spins with motion lines and impact bursts, conveying total pandemonium.

A man in a black suit and hat stands with his back to the viewer on a stone ledge, surrounded by frantic Marines. Speech bubbles explode around him: "OF COURSE!!! THERE IS ONLY ONE OF THEM!!! OUR SOLDIERS AREN'T TRASH; WE CAN'T HAVE THAT MANY DOWN!!!", "SINCE 100 MORE WENT DOWN JUST NOW.", "AH... NO, SORRY, I'D LIKE TO CORRECT THAT!!", and "AH!I DAMAGE REPORT!!I ARE YOU SAYING 400 SOLDIERS ARE DOWN!!I". Below, a Marine yells "IF THERE IS DAMAGE, REPORT IT CORRECTLY!!!" and "MOVE!!". Another panel shows a fallen soldier being questioned: "IDIOT!! HOW COULD YOU MISTAKE 5 FOR 400 PEOPLE...I!" The suited man demands a count, receiving "FIVE... YES." Further down, a Marine reports "CAPTAIN!! LUCCI AND COMPANY ARE HERE." while another exclaims "THEY ARE!!I SHOW THEM IN!!!" A tall figure with a long neck and a blonde woman stand in a grand hall as narration notes "... IT'S ONLY A MATTER OF TIME NOW."

A massive fortress-like tower rises from the sea beside a docked pirate ship emitting "WOO WOOO!!" and "SHF SHF SHF" sounds. On the ship's deck, a cloaked figure with a horned hat stands with others. Dialogue reads: "OK, IT'S BEEN 5 MINUTES.", "WE'LL GO ONE AT A TIME...", "I DON'T KNOW. DON'T ASK ME!!", "HEY SOGEKING, I WANTED TO ASK ABOUT...", "HOW TO USE THIS COLD AIR ROD...", "ATTACK!! ATTACK!!", "NYAA NYAA NYAA!", and "THE TWO GATES SHOULD BE OPEN NOW!!". In a lower panel, Roronoa Zoro sits cross-legged gripping his swords, declaring "LEAVE IT TO ME...!!!" while a voice answers "SAMURAI-MAN, WE'LL LEAVE THE IRON RAILING TO YOU!!" with a "GERO!!" sound effect.
