Inside Punk Hazard's research lab, Nami, Chopper, and the rescued children run down a corridor, panting. One child explains, "An illness that takes... a year to cure...?" Chopper asks, "What kind of disease is that? None of you look like you're unwell at all...!!" The children say, "Our mummies and daddies asked some people to bring us here... so we could all get well again!" Nami asks, "...To come here with these people? ...Your parents just told you..." A child corrects her: "No... The people were waiting for us right outside our houses... and brought us straight here... They said we couldn't see our parents in case they got sick too..." Nami understands the implication and says, "We didn't even get to say goodbye... Ridiculous... This smells like kidnap to me...!!" The page turns the children's story from medical treatment into abduction.

Nami reasons that if the children were taken away by people they did not know without seeing their parents, then the situation cannot be normal. Chopper warns, "The disease must be really dangerous!" and Nami snaps, "What are you, thick?!" She tells Chopper, "Chopper, you should give them a proper diagnosis later. Then we'll know for sure." Chopper answers, "All right!" The corridor ends abruptly, and Nami cries, "Oh, no... a dead end?!" Chopper panics, "Hwaaaay ahhhh!!!" But Franky's damage opens the way with "Crack!!" and "Boom!!" A heavy door gives way, and someone cheers, "It's open!! Hayahhh hhhh!!" The children pour forward while Nami observes, "You're amazing, raccoon-guy!!" Chopper insists, "I'm not a raccoon!!" even as Nami notes, "You do look like one now, though."

The escape route leads into an icy, pitch-black area. The children ask Chopper for warmth: "Chopper, lend me your fur!" and he answers, "Oh, sure!" Another child cries, "Whoa aa, it's cold!!" while a larger one says, "It feels nice and cool to me...!" Nami looks around and asks, "Where is this place? Outside the lab? Or some kind of refrigerator? It's so dark, I can't see a thing...!" Someone points out, "Look!! There's a door!! Let's keep going! This isn't a dead end after all!!" The group starts running again, but one child hesitates: "I don't wanna go in there!! It's too scary!!" Nami urges them on: "Really?! Then it must lead to the exit!! I know it's cold, but hang in there! Come on!!" When she asks what is wrong with them, the children say, "We came through this way when we first arrived!" and one child stares around: "All around...?"

The full horror of the room appears: the darkness is packed with frozen corpses. The children scream, "...Frozen corpses?!!" and Nami asks, "What in the... are these..." Chopper sees bodies above and below and cries, "Above and below, as well?!!" The children panic: "It's all full of frozen people!! It's too scary!!!" Others call from behind, "Aaa arghh hhh!!!" and "Don't leave us behind!!" Nami and Chopper stand before walls and pillars of ice crowded with human shapes suspended inside them. The page makes the facility's brutality visible without explanation: whatever Punk Hazard's lab is doing, it has left countless people frozen into the structure itself.

Back in the research lab's Biscuits Room, Sanji, Franky, and the samurai head stand among defeated guards. Sanji says, "All right, already, that's enough!! The path is blocked!! Now let's get moving. I just sensed a distant cry of fear!! I think Nami might be longing to confess her love to me!!" Franky looks at the animal-bodied guards and asks, "Seriously, though, what's up with these guys? Their bodies are half sheep! Creatures like this are only meant to exist in legends..." Sanji answers that there is no point speculating until they find out what the facility really is. The samurai head demands, "Release me now, pirate!! I will remain here!!!" He explains, "My son was not among the children who escaped!! He may be concealed in another room!! I will stay behind and-" Sanji interrupts: "How the hell do you plan on doing anything in that state?!! If we leave you here, you'll just end up killed!! I'm not gonna be your murderer!!!"

The samurai head rejects Sanji's help with warrior pride: "I will never place myself in the debt of a pirate!! I would sooner die!!!" Sanji kicks or drags him along anyway, shouting, "Oh, for the love of...!! For a disembodied head, this asshole has got a lot of nerve!!" The head insists, "I have no regrets!!! I will not beg for my life at the hands of villains!!!" Franky tells Sanji to calm down, asking whether smashing a disembodied head open will make him feel better. The head then admits the truth of his weakness: "Alas, if you were to leave me behind, I would be utterly defenseless... I suppose I would not complain if you were to carry me to safety..." Sanji explodes, "Arghhh!! He pisses me off so much!!" but carries him anyway. The head vows that once his body is found, they will pay, though he grudgingly praises Sanji's surprising brutality against a defenseless opponent.

At the research lab main entrance, the Baby Den-Den Mushi continues broadcasting the old distress signal. It repeats, "Help! Please! Anyone!!!" and another voice says, "...Lo! This is Luffy!! I'm going to be the Pirate King!!!" The snail buzzes with static, and someone asks, "Did you really need to say that?!" Another voice says, "It's cold... so cold... is that you, boss...?!!" Robin listens nearby and corrects it: "No, I'm not your..." The recording keeps playing fragments: "We're all gonna be killed by the samurai!!" "...Sliced down one after another... it's no use...!" "Whoever you are, you have to help us, please! We're at..." and "Where are you right now?!!" The page reveals that the distress call was a confusing collage of the Straw Hats' earlier chaos, including Luffy's own voice, rather than a straightforward plea from the facility's victims.

Law hears the signal name clearly: "Punk Hazard!!" The repeated voices crackle beside him, and one cries, "Aaaaa rghhhh hhhhhhh hh!!!" Law says, "The name of the island... references to a frigid climate... It seems safe enough to assume that this distress signal originated here on Punk Hazard, would you not agree?" Smoker answers from memory: "I hear you know Straw Hat Luffy, yeah? Two years ago, on Shabondy..." He recalls that Law and Kid fought as allies around the incident involving the Tenryuubito family of Rosward, and adds that at the ultimate war, when Straw Hat was being pursued by Akainu, it was Law who helped him escape. The page uses the false distress signal to connect Law directly to Luffy's past, and Smoker presses that history as evidence that Law's presence here is not innocent.

Smoker finishes the accusation: "It was you that helped him escape...!!" Law remains calm and silent. Smoker continues, "What are you after? I knew full well that the Marines... are skilled at fabricating distress signals and the like." Law refuses the premise: "I'm afraid this transmission isn't some trap that we came up with. It's my villa." Smoker says, "...And I refuse." The page keeps the confrontation verbal but tense. Then shouting erupts from inside the entrance: "Aaaaahhhhh!!" Someone yells, "All those frozen people!! They were so scary!!" The Marines spot movement beyond Law and shout, "But look over there!! It's a door!! We can finally escape!!" Another cries, "Looks like there was someone in there after all!!" while a Marine asks, "What the heck is that creature?!!" The page breaks Law's careful denial. Even as he claims to be alone, the fleeing children and Straw Hats are about to spill out behind him.

Nami, Chopper, and the children burst out through the door into the snow, cheering, "We're free!!" The children shout, "All right!!" and "We're out of the building!! Now we can go home!!" Another cries, "We can see our mummies and daddies again!!!" A child shivers, "It's so cold!!" and others recognize their rescuers: "The Straw Hat Pirates!!" Franky barrels through in tank form with the children riding and shouting, "Hey hey, hey-hey, Franky! Hey hey, hey! Franky Tank!" and "Move yo' ass! Move yo' ass! Move yo' super ass!! Anybody in our way is gonna end up flat!!!" Franky objects, "But he won't flatten the flowers, nooooo!!" Law watches the scene and realizes, "Don't tell me you're the one who's been keeping these children prisoner?!" Chopper recognizes Law: "Ahhh!! I recognize you!! Ohhh, yeah!! You were there back on Shabondy!!" Nami spots Smoker and shouts, "Smoker!!!" while Law notices, "Children here...?!"

The escape instantly becomes chaos. Nami realizes the Marines are there and yells, "This is bad... The Marines are onto us!!!" Sanji says, "We'd better head back and find a different way out!!" while another voice shouts, "Back inside, everyone!!!" The children panic: "Waaah hhhhhh hhhh!!" Law stares at the exposed situation and says, "...I must admit... I'm a little taken aback myself..." Smoker turns on him: "And you had the nerve to claim you were alone!!!" Meanwhile, Sanji leads the children away, shouting, "Hurry it up!! We're heading round the back!! This place must have a rear exit!" One child asks, "Huh?! Aren't Marines meant to be good guys?" and another says, "I guess they are. Go with them, then! I don't wanna!! They look all gangster-y!" The page shows how badly Law's cover has cracked: children, Straw Hats, and Marines are all now in the same place.

Tashigi orders the G-5 Marines forward: "Move it, men!! We're going to capture those Straw Hats!!!" The Marines charge after her, shouting, "A, dammit, we froze up out of shock!! Right, let's do this!! Follow the beautiful captain!!" Smoker calls, "Hey!! Hold it!!" but Law reacts first, angered: "...!! How dare they cause a ruckus on my island...!!" He raises his hand and activates his power: "Room...!!" A vast spherical field expands over the ship, Marines, snow, and entrance. Law then says, "Tact," and with one lifted finger begins to pull the G-5 battleship upward. The Marines scream, "Whoaaaah hhhhh!!!" as the ship rises. The page is the first full display of Law's control over the battlefield in this chapter: he does not chase the chaos, he simply encloses it and moves the environment itself.

Law's power lifts the G-5 battleship out of the water and into the air. The Marines shout, "Aghhhh!! This guy is no joke!!" and "Fall back!!" Another warns, "You'll be torn into pieces!!" Smoker watches grimly and says, "The likes of you lot don't stand a chance..." Law stands below with his sword and apologizes without softening the attack: "I'm afraid I can't let any of you leave this island. I apologise for claiming that there was nobody else here...!!" The ship hangs suspended while water streams upward with it, and the Marines scream, "Lwaa hhhhhhh hhh!!! The battleship...!! It's floating in the air!!!" Another asks, "What the heck is going on?!" and realizes, "And the water's up there with it...!!" The page makes Law's threat concrete: he can seize a Marine battleship whole and make escape impossible.
