The Plot

The chapter title page displays CHAPTER 27 “THE PLOT”. Below the title, two armed figures clash in a dynamic pose on a wooden platform surrounded by skull-marked fences. On the left, a short-haired man in a vest and boots holds multiple large weapons, including a cannon-like barrel in his mouth and swords in each hand. On the right, a cloaked figure with an animal-like head, black mask, and flowing garments wields an array of swords and rifles, mouth open in a fierce expression. Clouds of dust rise from the ground as the two face off.

Merry, the curly-haired butler, holds a wrapped box and asks Kaya, “IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE THAT YOU WILL NEEDI” He adds, “THE SPECIAL ORDER YOU PLACED IN THE NEIGHBORING TOWN HAS ARRIVED, HERE'S THE ITEM.” Kaya replies from the mansion doorway, “OJOUSAMA...” Inside the room, Merry gives an OK sign and says, “YOU'RE WELCOME. I LOVE TO BE OF SERVICE!” Kaya smiles while holding the box, responding, “YES, THANK YOU! THAT'S ALL! I'M SO SORRY THAT I HAD YOU RUN ALL THE WAY OVER THERE.” In close-up, Kaya looks at the box and says, “HE TAKES REALLY GOOD CARE OF ME.” Merry smiles at the door, replying, “YES, TOMORROW WILL BE CLAHADOR'S 3RD YEAR ANNIVERSARY SINCE HE CAME TO THIS PLACE. I'M SURE CLAHADOR WILL BE VERY HAPPY!” Kaya asks, “THAT'S A PRESENT RIGHTI”

In the village street, Usopp stands shouting with arms spread, “PIRATES ARE REALLY GOING TO ATTACK US TOMORROW!!” Villagers react in panic as someone yells, “THERE ARE PIRATES COMING...!!!” A figure on a rooftop calls, “EVERYONE! PLEASE LISTEN!” The Usopp Pirates glare angrily; one declares, “BUT THIS TIME IT'S FOR REAL!” The others shout back, “ONLY AN IDIOT WOULD BELIEVE YOU! WE'RE NOT GOING TO FALL FOR THAT CRAP AGAIN!” Usopp lunges forward yelling, “THAT BAS-TARD!” as the kids chase him. “HE RUNS SO FAST!” one cries. Usopp yells over his shoulder, “FINE, IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE ME! I'M GOING TO GET YOU THIS TIME!”

The Usopp Pirates react in shock: “THE VILLAGE IS GONNA BE ATTACKEDI! IS THAT TRUEI STRAW-HAT NIICHAN!I THEY'RE GOING TO KILL KAYA-SAN!I” One clutches his head, “OH... MY GOD!!” A small panel shows a distant view of the cliff with motion lines. At the rocky cliffside, Usopp stands with the kids and states, “THERE'S NO DOUBT ABOUT IT. THAT'S WHAT THE GUY SAID.” One replies, “YEP.” The group discusses: “AND THAT HYPNOTIST WAS A FAKE AS WELL!” “NO WONDER HE GAVE ME THE CREEPS!” “THAT BASTARD BUTLER WAS A BAD GUY!” Usopp wonders, “HMMM... I REMEMBER I WAS ON TOP OF THE CLIFF...” while a girl asks, “OH YEAH, WHY WERE YOU SLEEPING THERE OVER ANYWAYSI”

Kaya stands with Luffy and the others near the cliffside, arms crossed as she speaks. "IT'LL BE TOO LATE WHEN THE PIRATES GET HERE!" "YOU SHOULD ESCAPE WHILE YOU CAN!" "WELL THAT'S GOOD, YOU GUYS ARE THE FIRST TO KNOW," she continues. In the next panel she smiles slightly, "RAN TO THE VILLAGE IN SUCH A HURRY TO WARN THEM! SO, THAT'S WHY YOUR CAPTAIN..." The Usopp Pirates sprint through the village streets, "GOTTA HURRY!!" with motion lines and onomatopoeia "どどどどどどど!!" They shout among themselves: "MY ALLOWANCE MONEY, AND SNACKS... AND MY MODEL SHIP..." "YES! PACK UP OUR IMPORTANT STUFFS!" "YEAH! THEN WE SHOULD RUN AWAY!" Luffy bursts into a huge close-up, sweat flying, mouth wide open as he yells "EVEN THE BUTCHER WILL SOON RUN AWAY!" with SFX "あぁぁぁぁ" and "WE HAVEN'T BOUGHT OUR MEAT YET!" He then panics, "WHAT NOWI" "OH NO!"

Usopp stands panting outside the mansion gates, hands on knees, "HUFF... HUFF..." with SFX "キロキロ". Klahadore stands calmly by the gate. Kaya leans from her window, reaching out desperately, "KAYA! HURRY! YOU HAVE TO ESCAPE! OR ELSE YOU WILL BE KILLED!" Usopp calls from below, "USOPP-SAN!! I WAS WORRIED THAT YOU WOULDN'T COME BACK AGAIN...." Inside, Kaya hears knocking, "KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK!" Luffy suddenly appears in a dramatic close-up, eyes wide and mouth open, shouting "HE'S ACTUALLY A PIRATE!!" Kaya looks surprised, "WHAT'S WRONGI" Luffy continues, "YOU WERE LIED TO BY THAT BUTLER!!"

Luffy leans in close, sweat dripping, explaining, "...A CONVERSATION THAT GUY HAD WITH HIS COMRADE" "IT'S TRUE! I ACCIDENTALLY OVERHEARD..." Kaya stands at the window, "WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUTI HOW CAN CLAHADOR BE A PIRATEI" "WAIT... WAIT A MINUTE..." Luffy presses on with a fierce expression, "HE BECAME YOUR BUTLER IN ORDER TO OBTAIN YOUR FAMILY'S WEALTH! THAT BUTLER CAME TO WORK FOR YOU BECAUSE OF YOUR WEALTH!" Kaya's face pales in shock. Luffy continues, "AND THEN HE'S GOING TO COME AND KILL YOU! TOMORROW MORNING, HE'S GOING TO LET HIS PIRATE CREW ATTACK OUR VILLAGE!" Kaya asks quietly, "WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT, USOPP-SANI"

Luffy shouts desperately from the window, "I WAS WRONG ABOUT YOU! USOPP-SAN! IT WILL BE TOO LATE! IF YOU DON'T LEAVE NOW!" Outside the gate, Klahadore stands with arms crossed as Jango panics, "SHIT! IT'S THAT KID AGAIN!" "HEY, WHAT'S THAT NOISEI GO CHECK IT OUT!" "WHATI!" Klahadore remains calm. In the final wide panel, Kaya stands alone in the courtyard looking toward the house, while narration and dialogue unfold: "TALKING ABOUT YOUR FATHER THAT WAY... BUT..." "I KNOW HE WAS A BIT HARSH ON YOU..." "I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU ARE DOING THIS TO GET YOUR REVENGE ON CLAHADOR..."

Inside Kaya's bedroom, Usopp stands sweating and desperate as he pleads with her. "THEY MADE MY LIFE FILL UP WITH HAPPINESS," he insists, recalling how her stories once brightened his days. Kaya, tears streaming down her face, glares back furiously. "IN THE PAST, I ALWAYS LISTENED TO YOUR LIES, AND TURNED THEM INTO HOPES AND DREAMS," she says. "I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU'RE THIS KIND OF A PERSON! HOW CAN YOU MAKE UP LIES ABOUT HIM LIKE THATI" Usopp tries to explain, "IT'S NOT LIKE THAT... IT'S... BUT... NOW YOU'RE USING IT FOR REVENGE, AND USING IT TO HARM A GOOD PERSON..." Kaya cuts him off, voice trembling, "I REALLY LIKED THE LIES YOU MADE UP!" Usopp shouts with all his might, "I'M TELLING YOU THE TRUTH! LISTEN TO ME..." Kaya turns away, eyes filled with pain, and declares, "YOU'RE A TERRIBLE PERSON!"

Two suited butlers burst in and seize Usopp by the arms. "WAHH! WAIT, LET GO OF ME! I HAVEN'T FINISHED TALKING YET!" Usopp yells as they drag him. "DON'T WORRY, WE'LL THROW THIS PEST OUT!" one butler growls. From the doorway a servant calls, "OJOUSAMA, WHAT'S GOING ONI" Usopp struggles violently, "AGHH! MY ARM... LET ME GO... YOU MORONS!!" The butlers overpower him amid flying impact lines and shouts of "DAMN IT!" One butler snarls, "YOU LITTLE BRAT! YOU'RE ASKING FOR IT!" Kaya watches in shock, hand over her mouth, eyes wide with disbelief.

The gun-wielding butler aims at Usopp and fires, shouting "DIE!" Usopp ducks and yells "PULL OUT..." while the other butler attacks. "ARGH!!" Usopp cries as blows land. He twists free, roaring "YOU IDIOTS!!" The gunman is sent flying. Usopp stretches his arm forward with a "STRETCH..." motion, sending the surprised butler crashing through the room. "DAMN IT!" the remaining butler curses as debris flies and motion lines fill the air.

Kaya bursts forward, screaming "USOPP-SAN! STOP IT!!" Usopp keeps fighting the guards, sending one sprawling. "WHAT HAPPENEDI BOTH GUARDS ARE..." a servant wonders in the background. Usopp sprints down the hallway, shouting over his shoulder, "HURRY AND LEAVE THIS VILLAGE! KAYA! PLEASE BELIEVE ME!" Kaya stands frozen, hands clasped to her chest, whispering, "THIS ISN'T THE USOPP-SAN THAT I USED TO KNOW... BEFORE THE BUTLER COMES BACK!"

The net-hatted pirate grabs Kaya by the hair and yanks her close, snarling, "THEN I'LL HAVE TO MAKE YOU COME WITH ME BY FORCE!" Kaya cries out in pain, "AHH!" Outside, villagers spot Usopp near the mansion and shout, "LOOK! THERE'S USOPP!" and "HE'S AT THE MANSION." The pirate inside yells, "DAMN! IT'S THE VILLAGERS!" Usopp, held back, desperately pleads with wide eyes, "PLEASE BELIEVE WHAT I'M TELLING YOU! I'M NOT LYING! EVERYTHING I'VE SAID IS THE TRUTH!" The pirate drags Kaya toward the window as she screams, "NO! LET ME GO!" SFX: SLAP!! The pirate strikes Usopp, roaring, "STUPID BRAT! WE WON'T LET YOU GET AWAY THIS TIME!" while Merry and other servants watch in shock from inside the mansion.

Kaya stares in horror at the pirate's bruised face, tears streaming as she cries, "HOW IS IT POSSIBLE FOR ME TO BELIEVE YOU LIKE THISI" The pirate glares back, growling, "LOOK AT YOU..." He then barks at the window, "GET OUT OF HERE! OR ELSE I WILL SHOOT YOU..." Usopp, outside, refuses with a determined shout, "NO!!" The pirate fires his gun repeatedly, SFX: BANG!! and SFX: ズドドドン!!, sending bullets flying as Usopp ducks and charges forward amid the chaos.

Villagers chase after Usopp, yelling, "BASTARD! STAY STILL!!" and "USOPP IS GETTING AWAY!" One man shouts, "BUT... HE WAS HURTING YOU, OJOU-SAMA... YOU ALMOST HIT HIM!!" Kaya clutches the pirate's arm, pleading, "DON'T LET HIM GET AWAY!" The pirate sweats heavily, thinking, "EVERYBODY, HE WENT THAT WAY! WHY WON'T THEY BELIEVE ME!I DAMN IT..." Inside the mansion, Merry rushes to Kaya's side, asking, "AH! OJOU-SAMA, ARE YOU ALRIGHTI" while Usopp is pursued outside with cries of "USOPP, YOU'RE NOT GOING TO GET AWAY!! HEY, STOP!!"

Under the bright sun, Usopp walks alone along the path, recalling Jango's words: "WILL ATTACK THE VILLAGE, WHEN DAWN BREAKS!" SFX: タタタ... and bird calls "KA... KA..." He pauses by a fence, muttering, "LOOKS...!" Suddenly, villagers spot him and shout, "OI! CAPTAIN USOPP!!!" Usopp's face twists in anguish, tears pouring as he screams, "UUUUGH....." overwhelmed by the unfolding crisis.

Usopp jolts in shock, eyes bulging as he yells "EEEH!". He wipes his face frantically with a cloth, SFX: wipe wipe, then turns and waves to the approaching villagers, shouting "HEY! HI EVERYBODY!". Luffy, still half-asleep, snaps awake and roars "WE'VE GOT TO WARN EVERYONE! CAPTAIN! WE HEARD ABOUT THE PIRATES!". Usopp bursts into laughter, "WAHAHAHA! WHAT PIRATES...I" while the villagers stare in disbelief. A boy asks "I JUST WOKE UP. HE WAS ASLEEP THE WHOLE TIME". Kaya glares, demanding "HOW CAN YOU STILL BE ALIVEI STILL ALIVEI". Someone shouts "GET HIM! DON'T LET HIM GET AWAY!!" as Usopp sweats, wondering "HOW IS IT POSSIBLE FOR ME TO BELIEVE YOU LIKE THISI WARN EVERYONE...I".

Luffy frowns thoughtfully, "HMMI". Usopp throws his head back in roaring laughter, SFX: WAHAHAHA... DO--N!!, declaring "I WAS JUST HAVING MY REVENGE ON THAT BUTLER BY MAKING UP STORIES ABOUT HIM BEING A PIRATE! JUST LIKE ALL THE OTHER TIMES, OF COURSE IT WAS JUST A LIE!". The villagers react in shock: "EVEN THE STRAW-HAT NIICHAN HELPED CAPTAIN USOPP LIE TO US!", "MAN! I THOUGHT SOMETHING BIG WAS GOING TO HAPPEN!", "WHATTTT!I IT WAS JUST A LIEI". The Usopp Pirates boys protest, "CAPTAIN, I NEVER THOUGHT YOU WOULD MAKE UP LIES TO HURT OTHERS", "NO MATTER HOW MEAN THAT BUTLER IS...", "ME TOO!", "YEA, I FEEL THE SAME WAY!", "CAPTAIN SHOULDN'T MAKE UP LIES JUST BECAUSE OF THIS. THAT'S NOT HONORABLE!".

The villagers turn away, muttering "WONDER WHAT'S FOR DINNER.", "YEAH! GO HOME AND EAT DINNER!", "LETS GO HOME!". Usopp stands alone, thinking "NO ONE BELIEVES A WORD I SAY NOW! BECAUSE I USED TO LIE ALL THE TIME...". At night under the moon, arrows fly past as SFX: SWOOSH..., and Usopp crouches on the cliffside, whispering "NO ONE BELIEVES ME! THEY ALL THINK TOMORROW WILL JUST BE ANOTHER PEACEFUL DAY... THEY'RE DEFINITELY GOING TO ATTACK IN THE MORNING. EVEN SO... THE FACT THAT THOSE PIRATES ARE GOING TO ATTACK. IS THE TRUTH, RIGHTI" while the Black Cat Pirates' ship silhouette looms offshore.

Usopp stands tall on the cliff, fist raised dramatically as he shouts "IN ORDER TO PROTECT THE VILLAGE, THEN THIS WILL JUST BECOME ONE OF MY LIES! SINCE EVERYONE THAT THINKS I'M A LIAR I'LL PROTECT THIS VILLAGE MYSELF AND PREVENT THE PIRATES FROM ATTACKING!", SFX: DON!!. Kaya and Merry watch silently from the side with serious expressions. Later Usopp sits hugging his knees, recalling "AND THEY CHASED AFTER ME WITH BROOMSTICKS... HERE... IN THE VILLAGE WHERE I GREW UP. ALTHOUGH THEY... FIRED GUNS AT ME...." as the night wind blows.

Under the crescent moon, Luffy, Nami, Zoro, and Usopp stand together on a rocky path near cliffs. Luffy declares, "I WANT TO PROTECT EVERYONE..." while Usopp shouts, "I LOVE THIS VILLAGE!" A man with curly hair tells Luffy, "YOU ARE A PRETTY GOOD GUY, YOU LIED TO YOUR CREW SO THAT YOU CAN DO THIS ALONE..." Luffy looks serious and replies, "HOW CAN I JUST WATCH... EVERYONE GET KILLED..." Nami watches with concern. The curly-haired man sweats as Luffy suddenly grabs his own face in determination. Luffy yells, "BUT FIRST THINGS FIRST, ALL THEIR TREASURE IS MINE!" A large "ドン" sound effect erupts as Luffy points forward with fierce eyes and announces, "OKAY! I'M DEFINITELY GOING TO BUTT-IN THIS ONE!" The man with the net on his head reacts in shock, "WHAT...I" Nami makes an OK sign and smiles while Zoro stands behind them.
