Hotshot Rookie

On the open sea, the Going Merry sails in the distance. Nami and Chopper sit on deck. Nami says, “...Man, those monsters sure were big.” Chopper replies, “Never want to see 'em again...” and “Yeah...”. Luffy leans on the railing and says, “Y'know, Chopper...”. Chopper looks up with “HmI”. Nami suddenly shouts in fury, “WHY DO YOU THINK YOU EVEN WENT UNDERWATER IN THE FIRST PLACE!I”. Luffy grins and answers, “Sure, I took out 10 of 'em before. If I got just a lil' serious, I can take care of monsters like them. Piece of cake.” Chopper panics, “TEN!I REALLY!I” while Luffy points at him. Chopper cries, “For god's sake...”.

Inside the ship’s cluttered room filled with weapons and armor, Sanji stands with arms crossed while Usopp gestures. Sanji says, “He’s telling the truth, Nami. I told you already, there weren’t any clues down there!” Usopp adds, “NOT A SINGLE PIECE OF CLUE ON HOW TO GET TO THE SKY! LOOK AT ALL THIS JUNK!”. Sanji examines a skull and muses, “Or if not, then some sort of violent clash broke out amongst the crew. The ship was clearly attacked by some enemy in the past.” Nami, furious, yells, “WE NEED JOURNALS! SEA CHARTS! THOSE SORTS OF THINGS! Not this rusty sword, plate or some octopus! Might also happen to us if we really try to go up to the sky!” Usopp shouts, “INFO!...Is what I’ll decide if we live or die.” Luffy pops up excitedly, “Listen! Whatever happened to that ship, Then that’s all the more reason for us to find out information!” while Nami glares.

Nami, still angry, rejects a gift from Usopp who offers a seashell, shouting “I DON’T WANT IT, YOU IDIOT!” and “AAHH! YOU DESTROYED A SUIT OF ARMOUR!”. Luffy curiously asks about the armour, “ARMOUR! Oh, what’s that, LuffyI”. Robin sits calmly with her chin on her hand and says, “Here...”. She continues, “Surrounded by idiots, honestly! Oh, the real frustration will be from hereon! Now we have absolutely no way of finding land! You seem frustrated...”. Later Robin sits on the stairs holding her head, explaining, “I knocked it from the ship of those monkeys earlier.” Nami stands nearby holding the armour pieces while Chopper peeks from the stairs. Someone remarks, “An eternal log pose!I”.

Nami leans close to Robin with a gentle smile. "You look like you've been through some hardship..." Robin stays silent, a single tear visible. Nami adds brightly, "You're my only ally, Robin...!" Nearby, someone calls out, "Hey! Is the takoyaki done yet!I" Robin turns away, sniffing the air with "SNIFF...!" In the next scene, a pair of hands holds up the log pose. The inscription reads "JAYA." A voice notes, "That must be the name of the island." Luffy bursts onto the deck with wild excitement, arms raised, shouting "ALRIGHT! SET COURSE FOR JAYA!" Nami glares at him and snaps, "THAT'S FOR YOU TO DECIDE! Is that where we're goin'I JayaI"

The Going Merry sails at full speed. Luffy yells "FULL SPEED AHEAD FOR JAYA!" and "SET SAIL FOR JAYA!" The crew responds with overlapping shouts: "Ok.", "Chopper, can you help meI", "Just keep the rudder steady at the middle.", "Which way is itI Nami.", and "SET SAIL FOR JAYA!" In the next panels the crew erupts in panic. Usopp and Chopper flail as someone yells "SET NO SAIL FOR JAYA!" Sanji and others protest, "And then we wouldn't be able to go to sky island...!", "WHA!", "If we go to this Jaya island... Then won't our current log get re-written there...I" Nami and Luffy argue face-to-face. Nami says, "The log pose always gets re-written at every island. That's how it's been from the start." Luffy retorts, "Well, that's your fault." Nami fires back, "Ah- You're right! But I didn't think this would happen!" Luffy shouts, "Ah- You're right! What, you're the one who decided to sail for Jaya. NAMI! WHAT'S THE BIG IDEA!I"

Nami points angrily, "WAIT, YOU IDIOT! WE WENT IN A CIRCLE!" Luffy insists, "SET SAIL FOR JAYA!" The crew debates. Someone says, "Then let's head to Jaya." Nami replies, "Well, we gotta ask around." Usopp adds, "Makes sense." Robin suggests, "Let's go ask around in Jaya then." Zoro states, "Fine, but howI" Nami declares, "And I say the ship goes to sky island!" Usopp counters, "Well listen up then! As the captain, I get to decide where the ship goes!" The group agrees, "We'll need a bit of luck though..." and "Yeah, that sounds good..." Robin notes, "The log pose won't get re-written as soon as we arrive there. We can just leave Jaya before the log gets re-written." A narration box states, "The ship now headed for the mysterious island of Jaya." Luffy cheers, "YEAH!!! TO THE COUNTRY OF MEAT, JAYA!" while someone mutters, "Stop dreaming." The final caption reads, "And so for the time being."

Usopp scans the horizon with binoculars and reports, "Yup. Still nothing." and "Still nothing, UsoppI" On deck, Sanji stands with arms spread, saying, "Yeah, it should be close. The climate's stabilized for a while now. So we should be already in Jaya's climate zone." Zoro replies, "It can't be that far, rightI That monkey-dude did call this area his turf, after all." Chopper watches seagulls and remarks, "Even the seagulls look happy. What a lovely spring day." A crew member notes, "Feels nice and warm..." The narration states, "Jaya must be a spring island." The ship sails peacefully onward.

On the deck of the Going Merry, Chopper stares in shock as several large seabirds plummet from the sky, their bodies torn by unseen gunfire. Feathers and debris scatter across the railing while impact sounds echo. Usopp peers through a spyglass and shouts, "Look! Bullets! Judging from the direction they were flying, the shots were fired in the direction we're sailing!" Chopper trembles, "Shot!I But I didn't hear anything even close to a gunshot!" Nami excitedly points at a falling bird, "Oh! Let's have some grilled-bird!" A panicked voice cries, "AGHHHH! THEY'VE BEEN SHOT!" Usopp continues analyzing, "Ha... That'd have to be one hell of sniper with one hell of a gun and one hell of an eyesight! I'm sure those birds were shot while someplace else and only happened to fall down now." Sanji appears holding a bird, declaring, "Sanji! Seagull-meat!" Nami dismisses the idea, "That's just silly, Chopper. What, you think they were shot from an island we can't even see yetI" Chopper protests desperately, "BUT I WAS WATCHING THE BIRDS ALL THIS TIME!"

A wide view of the sea shows Jaya's Western Shore in the distance, a small tropical island surrounded by waves. A large seabird glides overhead with motion lines. On a rooftop, a tall figure in a dark coat and wide hat fires a long rifle with precise aim, the barrel smoking. The sniper reflects, "I failed to deliver instantaneous death to one of the birds." Another voice notes, "How painful it must have been... Poor thing..." The shooter lowers the ornate rifle and states, "A CONSEQUENCE OF YOUR EVERYDAY ACTIONS... BUT THAT TOO, IS FATE," as impact sounds ring out.

The Going Merry sails toward a lively port town on Jaya. Luffy stands excitedly on the sheep figurehead, shouting, "AWESOME! THAT LOOKS LIKE ONE FUN TOWN TO ME!" The crew reacts with mixed expressions. Inside the ship someone says, "You're right!" Luffy urges, "Faster, Merry!" Nami comments, "A resort!I" Usopp adds, "Whoa, it looks like a mini-resort...!" Nami continues, "I'd love to go and take it easy for a little while." Approaching the docks lined with pirate ships, Usopp warns, "Don't be silly, Usopp! There's no way pirate ships would brazenly dock right in front of the town!" Nami laughs, "Hahaha... I guess you're right!" while pointing at the anchored vessels. Someone questions, "Is it just me or are the ships docked at port all pirate shipsI"

The crew reacts in horror to the scene before them. Luffy, Nami, and Usopp clutch their heads as motion lines emphasize their shock. Luffy yells, "WHAT'S WRONG WITH THIS TOWN..." while large text declares "MURDER!" A narration box explains, "On the Western shore of Jaya island. Is a lawless town far removed from the reaches of any government, teeming with undreaming criminals." Another box adds, "A town where people sing, laugh, and kill each other." In the streets below, townsfolk brawl openly with weapons, a man drinks from a bottle while watching through a telescope, and chaotic figures fight amid wooden buildings and palm trees. Sound effects capture the violent atmosphere.

In the streets of Mocktown, a massive laughing man towers over the crowd. "AHAHAHA HAHAHA!" he roars. Speech bubbles mock the fallen figure: "Do you even lift, broI" and "Talk about weak..." A narration box reads, "A town of ridicule and mockery... 'Mocktown.' -From the Ship Log of Jew Wall-". Onlookers react in shock. "He's one of Roshio's crew...!" "You messed with the wrong man, there..." The wrestling-champ crewman boasts, "Whoa, now... I'm a wrestling champ! Hey, you know who I amI" A terrified patron cries, "He's crazy!" Another recalls, "Killed, right on the spot, I tell ya! Y'know, I was there when some guy beat Roshio at a game of cards..."

Inside a dim bar, a long-haired man with a distinctive bandana leans over a card table. "You should consider yourself 'lucky,' hee hee," someone says. "Looks like a pretty easy win for Roshio." Ceiling fans spin as cards are dealt. A hand reaches out: "REVEAL!" The long-haired man apologizes, "Sorry there." Close-up, he smirks at his opponent, "What'll you bet nowI Your underwearI Haha... Looks like you're all out." A bounty poster identifies him: "Captain of the Roshio Pirates 'Executioner Roshio' Bounty: 42,000,000 Beli."

Roshio taunts the loser, "But feel free to come by and play again. It might be chump change," while reaching for the money. "I'll be taking all your money then." He suddenly grabs the table with a massive "GRAB!" and "どっ!!" impact. Money and debris fly as the table is smashed. A close-up shows a dark-haired man smiling ominously. The defeated Roshio screams in agony, "AGHHH!" and "KYAAAA!" as he is slammed down. Onlookers stare in stunned silence with "III" expressions.

Roshio, bloodied and pinned, yells, "YOU CHEATED, DIDN'CHA..." while gripping a dagger. The attacker snarls, "OH, YOU DID. STOP GRASPING AT STRAWS! JUST WHEN DID I CHE- YOU CHEATED, ALRIGHT..." Roshio howls in pain, "AAAA ARRR GHHH HHH!" and "WHAT!I" The attacker is revealed as Bellamy. The crowd erupts: "Watch your mouth there..." "He might be young, but he's already got a bounty of over 50 million on his head!" "That's Bellamy... 'Hyena Bellamy'!" "W-who the hell does that hot-headed brat think he is!I" "That was a fair game, no matter how you look at it!"

Inside the bustling bar, a long-haired man with sunglasses reacts with surprise. "HmI" "I" "WhatI" A voice calls out "SAR-QUISS!" as the spiky-haired Sarquiss sits at the counter with his back turned. Sound effects "どよ どよ" punctuate the tense atmosphere. The long-haired man leans forward, muttering "...CheatI Yeah, sure." Nearby patrons react: "You saw him cheat, didn'tchaI" Another laughs, "Haha... Oh, he cheated alright. Definitely." The scene shifts to a close confrontation where a goggled man is struck violently. "GAHHH!" rings out with impact effects. The long-haired man shouts, "DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHO I AM!I" A furious voice retorts, "THAT'S ENOUGH BULL-CRAP!" while another declares, "I saw it with my own two eyes. He's one dirty bastard, I tell ya!"

The fight erupts in a powerful punch. A muscular man in a black tank top delivers a devastating blow, sending the goggled man flying backward with a massive "パリィィィト" impact and "UGH-" reaction. Liquid and debris splash everywhere as "SPLASH!" appears. Later, the long-haired man with sunglasses points forward with a smirk, saying "Later, loser." A small "ピン!" effect and "FLICK..." mark his dismissive gesture. Outside, the Wild Cherry bar sign is visible as a massive explosion erupts from the building with debris flying. Onlookers including a tall man in a coat and a woman watch the destruction from the street.

A close-up reveals Bellamy the Hyena laughing wildly "HAHAHAHA!" A bounty poster box reads: "Captain of the Bellamy Pirates 'Bellamy the Hyena' Bounty: 55,000,000 Beli". In the lively streets of the town filled with palm trees and buildings, Monkey D. Luffy stands with his hands behind his head, declaring "Lotta people here." Roronoa Zoro stands beside him, swords at his side, observing "Seems like a pretty fun town." The two Straw Hats take in the bustling scene.
