A ship tosses violently in a massive storm. A sailor shouts, "IT'S A HUGE STORM, ADMIRAL!" Another pleads, "PLEASE BE A LITTLE MORE CONCERNED, SIR!" A voice answers, "Sure is." On deck, crew members yell about the yardarm being hit and needing rope. Inside the cabin, Mont Blanc Noland sits writing in a logbook, noting the expedition's progress. He remarks, "Our extended stay out here seems like a miracle..." A close-up shows a smiling man saying, "Like the ring of a bell..." and "No... It was... A beautiful sound."

The scene opens on the stormy coast of Jaya in the Grand Line on May 21, 1122. Lightning strikes near a village with totem poles and thatched huts. Villagers cry out, "Pantori! (priest) Please hang in there!" and "Give us your guidance...!" Inside a stone chamber, several villagers sit anxiously. One says, "ONLY BLOOD... RUNS ACROSS THESE LANDS NOW..." Another adds, "OUR CROPS HAVE ALSO WITHERED AWAY...!" A third reports, "ANOTHER... HAS SUCCUMBED... TO THE DISEASE..." The group concludes, "THIS LAND HAS BEEN CURSED..."

In the Shandia village, terrified villagers cry out as they kneel before a grotesque, horned figure. "An offering must be presented to our god, Lord Kashi!" one declares. Another pleads, "What must we do, pantori!I" while others shout in panic, "Shandia... will die out! If nothing is done... this village...!" The pantori replies firmly, "But fear not and follow my orders!" The monstrous being then roars with bulging eyes and dripping saliva, "Offer the blood of the most beautiful maiden in the village to Lord Kashi! Blood... on the sacrificial altar...!" Heavy breathing sounds fill the air: "Huff... Huff..." In a stone chamber, Mousse sits silently at a table as a voice commands, "For her sacrifice... Prepare Mousse... the ritual," while ominous symbols glow on the walls.

Rain pours over the village as Pantori collapses. "Pantori!!" someone screams amid dripping sounds. Close-ups show lifeless hands. Villagers gather around the body in horror. "And now even our village pantori is dead...! First, our witch-doctor... Whom can we rely upon now...I" one cries. Another checks, "His pulse is gone......It's no good." A man with a topknot stares in shock. Nearby, a villager notices something on another's arm: "Hey, you! T... That mark...!" The marked man reacts, "HnI Ah!" Panic spreads as voices exclaim, "Never has a calamity of such scale befallen our people! Over a hundred for certain... How many do the dead now number...I" The rain-soaked village with its towers and palm trees stands in the background.

Chaos erupts as Seto is hurled through the air by an unseen force. "Seto! Wait!" a voice yells while impact sounds ring out. Seto screams in agony, "AAAAA AAAGHH HHHHHH!" Villagers watch helplessly from below. "Nothing we can do...!" one says. Another adds, "There's... BUT...! Once the mark of the evil spirit reveals itself... Leave him be!" In a frenzy, a man claws at the black cross-like mark on his own body, shouting, "Get off! Get off of me! Damn it! Damn this mark!" Sweat and strain cover his face. Nearby, another figure pants heavily, "Huff... Huff... If this is just a nightmare... Please let me wake up...!" The village structures loom in the stormy background.

Mousse stands calmly, needle in hand, and declares with a gentle smile, "I will gladly offer it. If my body will be of any use..." In a close-up, her mother weeps. Mousse continues reassuringly, "Mother. Thank you... For raising me until now. To be selected for sacrifice is a joyous opportunity. If my life alone can save this village, then I could not be happier. Why do you cry, motherI I will soon be welcomed by the Sun God." Her mother sobs, "Mousse!" as Mousse sews peacefully in the room, surrounded by shelves and village life continuing in the background.

In a rain-soaked jungle clearing, young Seto stands holding a spear and calls out desperately, "Kalgara..." and "Seto." The great warrior Kalgara sits with his back turned, rain pouring down his scarred body. Nearby, another Shandia warrior stares in shock, muttering "Hii..." A close-up reveals Kalgara's intense, tear-streaked face as he declares, "I always wished... That one day... I could grow up to be just like you!" The scene shifts to a wide view of the towering forest as a warrior weeps, "I WISH... I DIDN'T HAVE TO DIE LIKE THIS!" and "I didn't have to die like this!" Another fighter sobs, "FIGHT... TO PROTECT OUR LANDS! TO BE A BRAVE WARRIOR... AND..." while the sound of rain and sorrow fills the air.

A sailing ship approaches a lush island through rough seas as the crew cheers, "Hurrah for our admiral!" and "Whew..." On the beach, the admiral stands tall while sailors celebrate landing. One crewman asks, "But did you fellows really not hear anything...I" Another replies, "No, I don't think any of us heard anything resembling a bell." The admiral notes, "It's fortunate we've managed to withstand the storm." A laughing crew member adds, "We turned the rudder in the direction you ordered, and whaddya know! An island at long last!" The admiral laughs heartily, "Aahahaha! Give it a rest! You can't even ride that wave!" as the crew shouts, "Woohoo! Land at last!" and "Right, guysI Right. I think you might've been just hearing things, admiral!"

The crew explores the dense jungle as strange bird calls echo, "Jeeee~" One sailor remarks, "I hope we can find plant specimens for research here." Another admires the scenery, "What a gorgeous forest..." The admiral's group reacts with confusion to the sounds, with one asking, "Why's it only facing this way...I" The admiral suddenly freezes and shouts, "A-ADMIRAL! THIS IS...!" A crewman laughs, "Haha, stop teasing. I think I would know if I had heard such a queer sound as the cries of these birds." Another calls out, "Hey, admiral! Maybe that's the sound you were going on about." The birds continue their cries as the men look around warily.

A massive, resonant sound rings across the sea and island, "カラァン...!! カラァァン...!! カラァァァ...ン..." The crew on the beach stares toward the distant island in awe. One sailor exclaims, "W... W-WAIT, ADMIRAL! There must be people on this island." The admiral stands with arms crossed, listening intently. Another crew member whispers, "Amazing... What a beautiful sound..." The ship "VNEEL K.D" rocks in the surf as the mysterious bell-like tone continues to echo through the rain.

In a rainy jungle, several figures spot a collapsed person near large tree roots. "Someone's collapsed over there..." one says. "HmI" another responds. A group of Marines approaches the scene where a boy lies ill. "Wait!" "Hey, are y-" "Admiral, there's... Something strange about that boy..." "Intruders!" "Curses..." the boy coughs violently. A close-up reveals the Admiral's shocked face as he realizes the truth. "A TREE FEVER EPIDEMIC!I" he shouts. The scene widens to show the boy on the ground with surrounding Marines. "T... TREE FEVER!I" "WHA!" "It's tree fever." "H-H-HOLY CRAP! THIS IS BAAAAAD!" one Marine cries. "And he's yet to receive any sort of treatment..." another notes.

The Admiral sweats as he processes the crisis. "I'm only going in to determine this island's situation." "AdmiralI Don't tell me you're-" "Get the whole crew vaccinated." "Only a little..." "Do we have any KonineI" A wide view shows a devastated village with ruined stone buildings and a massive impact crater. "How terrible..." someone murmurs as a huge "どんっ!!" sound effect erupts. "Looks like even their crops have caught the disease." In the village, a Marine grabs a villager. "HEY YOU! ANSWER ME! WHAT EXACTLY IS HAPPENING HERE!I" "AREN'T THERE ANY VILLAGERS LEFT WHO'RE STILL FINE!I" Another Marine reports, "ADMIRAL! THE VILLAGERS HERE ARE ALL AFFLICTED!"

A separate scene unfolds with rhythmic drum beats "ドンドッドット♪" as a feathered warrior dances wildly. A dark-haired woman watches and whispers, "God of the sun..." In a boat on water, figures chant while carrying a bound person. "TAKE HER TO THE ALTAR!" SFX "ざぁ ざぁ" and "ドンドッドット" fill the air. Multiple boats appear on the water under rain. Speech bubbles declare "God of the forest..." "God of the rain..." "God of the land..." as the procession continues toward a large stone altar amid pounding drums and falling rain.

The ritual reaches its peak as a bound maiden lies on the altar. "HE'S HERE!" "GOD HAS COME!" "We beseech you to save our village." "In return for the blood of this maiden..." Drums pound "ドンドッドット" while a figure looms. An aerial view reveals a massive circular stone structure. "LORD KASHI!" Villagers cry out. At the altar, a desperate man shouts, "Enough! This is for the sake of the village! MOUSSE!" as the bound maiden lies still. Nearby figures react with shock. "LORD..."

Atop a stone altar, a massive serpentine beast with tiger-like stripes rears up, jaws open wide. Villagers cry out in awe and fear: "LORD KASHI...", "WHAT A SUBLIME FORM.", "LORD KASHI." Below, a young woman lies collapsed on the ground while a wild-haired man and other Shandia tribespeople shout desperately, "PLEASE SAVE MY FATHER!", "SAVE MY SON!", "PLEASE SAVE MY MOTHER...!" A close-up shows shocked faces as something falls into the water with a loud impact. The giant serpent lunges forward, smashing into the altar structure amid massive splashes and debris. "WHATI DID SOMETHING JUST FALL INTO THE—" one warrior yells as the beast thrashes violently.

The colossal serpent Lord Kashi thrashes violently, its body coiling and slamming against the stone altar as massive impact lines and splashes erupt. A close-up reveals a muscular, sweat-drenched warrior with a fierce glare and gritted teeth, blood or water streaking his face. In the next panel the same man and another villager stare upward in horror, shouting "LORD KASHI!!" as the beast's gaping jaws and striped coils dominate the frame, water spraying everywhere from its furious movements.

The wild-haired warrior screams with bulging eyes, "IT'S DEICIDE!" Other villagers react in panic: "HOW CAN THIS BE!I", "KYAAAA!" Multiple overlapping shouts fill the panels: "SPILL YOUR BLOOD AND OFFER YOUR BLOOD!", "HURRY UP AND OFFER YOUR BLOOD!", "KILL THE INTRUDER!", "KILL THE GIRL!", "WE'LL BE CURSED!", "WHO IS HE!I KILL HIM!" A calm voice states, "This ritual is over." The young woman stands drenched and wide-eyed. The warrior's face fills the frame as he declares, "THERE IS NO NEED FOR YOU TO DIE!" and "But fear no more!" while gripping a weapon, sweat and rain pouring down amid frantic motion lines and terrified expressions around him.
