Drum's Sky

A wide shot shows a massive, snow-covered tree with a wooden structure built around its trunk. A ropeway extends from the structure down to the snowy ground, where a large group of villagers has gathered. One villager remarks, "DIDN'T EXPECT A ROPEWAY TO BE SET UP FROM A PLACE LIKE THIS..." while another asks, "ISN'T THIS THE EX-DOCTOR KUREHA'S HOME?" A third explains, "SOME OF THE VILLAGERS FOUND IT BY CHANCE." In the next panel, a large, enclosed gondola is seen slowly ascending the ropeway cables with a "CREAK CREAK" and "SHK SHK" sound, while the wind howls "HYUUUU...". A villager shouts, "WE CAN'T JUST LEAVE OUR HERO DALTON ALONE, ESPECIALLY WHEN HE'S INJURED!" Another yells back, "HEY! DON'T YOU THINK THERE'S TOO MANY PEOPLE RIDING THIS THING AT ONCE!?" The final panel shows the gondola packed tightly with armed villagers, struggling to move up the steep incline. Someone complains, "FINE, FINE, BUT THIS THING IS BARELY MOVING AS IT IS RIGHT NOW!" while another enthusiastically shouts, "WE'LL FIGHT TOO!"

Inside the crowded gondola, villagers are furiously pedaling to power the ascent. One villager wipes his brow and says, "AHH, WHAT A NICE VIEW," while another urges, "C'MON! PUT SOME MUSCLE INTO THAT PEDALLIN'!" Nefertari Vivi stands near Dalton, looking concerned as she tells him, "PLEASE DON'T PUSH YOURSELF, DALTON." Dalton sits heavily, covered in bandages and sweating profusely, breathing in ragged "HUFF... HUFF..." gasps. The scene shifts to a close-up of Dalton's intense, pained expression as a voice echoes in his mind: "WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING, DALTON..." He continues to pant, "HUFF... HUFF..." The bottom panel transitions into a flashback, showing a menacing, shadowy close-up of Wapol's face. Wapol sneers, "ARE YOU IMPLYING THAT I'M A FOOL...?" and adds, "THERE'S NO CURE FOR A FOOL...?"

The flashback continues with Wapol laughing arrogantly, his wide mouth taking up most of the panel. He taunts, "I'M SURE YOU'LL ADMIT YOUR WRONGDOING AFTER SPENDING A WEEK IN SOLITARY CONFINEMENT." He continues, "YOUR REBELLIOUSNESS IS JUST A LITTLE PHASE, I'M SURE OF IT!" and demands, "KNOW YOUR PLACE AS MY RETAINER!" He mocks Dalton, asking, "TRYING TO PLAY THE GOODY TWO-SHOED HERO OR SOMETHING!?" The next panel shows Dalton kneeling on the stone floor, looking defeated and exhausted. Wapol's voice continues, "SO HURRY UP AND COME TO YOUR SENSES." Dalton groans, "UGHH...!" Wapol reminds him, "YOU'RE AN ELITE GUARD TRUSTED BY THE CITIZENS OF THIS COUNTRY, DALTON." In the final panel, Dalton remains bowed on the floor as Wapol questions, "IS WHAT HE SAID REALLY WORTH ABANDONING YOUR STATUS, RESPECT, AND COUNTRY!?" Wapol concludes, "YOU'VE ONLY BEEN TRICKED BY THAT QUACK DOCTOR'S WORDS!"

The flashback shows Wapol laughing uproariously, his mouth wide open, shouting, "MAHAHAHA!" He tells Dalton, "ALL YOU HAVE TO SAY IS SORRY AND I'LL FORGIVE YOU, DALTON." The scene cuts back to the present, showing the gondola slowly making its way up the snowy mountain ropeway. Dalton, still in the gondola, looks furious and determined. He thinks to himself, "WHAT IS A KING EVEN GOOD FOR!?" and "STATUS... WHAT IS IT GOOD FOR!?" The bottom panel is a tight close-up of Dalton's face, his hand clutching his forehead in anguish and frustration as he trembles with emotion, a large "!!!" emphasizing his internal turmoil.

A small snow bird chirps "CHIRP CHIRP" on the ground. Wapol's voice rings out, "ME BEING A KING HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT!?" He continues, "...! BECAUSE YOU'RE A PIRATE, YOU SAY!?" The next panel shows Wapol's mouth transformed into a cannon barrel, with small birds perched nearby. He laughs, "MAHAHAHA... YOU COULDN'T BE MORE WRONG, STRAWHAT!" The bottom panel shows a wide shot of the snowy rooftop where Luffy and Wapol are facing off. Wapol points an accusing finger at Luffy and declares, "WHAT YOU'RE COMMITTING RIGHT NOW IS AN INTERNATIONAL CRIME!" He stammers slightly as he adds, "DRUM KINGDOM IS... NGHH! A MEM... BER STATE OF THE WORLD GOVERNMENT..."

Luffy glares fiercely at Wapol, his expression dead serious. He states, "'CAUSE THIS IS MY FIGHT." He continues, "YEAH, AND I'M SAYING EVEN THAT DOESN'T MATTER..." Wapol, enraged by Luffy's defiance, yells back, "YOU... STUPID STRAW-HIPPO!" The bottom panel shows Wapol taking aim, his cannon-mouth pointed directly at Luffy. He grunts "NGH!?" as he prepares to fire, shouting, "I'LL DESTROY YOU!"

Luffy stretches his arms far back, preparing for an attack, and taunts Wapol with a grin, "NISHI SHISHI! EAT ME IF YOU CAN!" Wapol opens his mouth impossibly wide, revealing the cannon barrel inside. Luffy looks surprised and exclaims, "A CANNON!" as he realizes, "HIS TONGUE BECAME," Wapol fires the cannon with a massive blast, screaming "DIEEE!" He follows up with, "I'M NOT DONE YET! BAKU BAKU SHOCK!" and announces his attack, "TONGUE CANNON!" Luffy yells "AHHHHHH!" as he tries to dodge the incoming projectile.

A massive explosion rocks the top of the castle tower, sending a huge plume of smoke and debris into the snowy sky. Large sound effects emphasize the impact. In the bottom panel, Chopper is shown in the foreground, looking up in shock at the explosion, a small "!!" near his head. The background shows a wide view of the Drum Castle complex, with smoke billowing from the highest tower where the battle is taking place.

Nefertari Vivi yells "DALTON!" as Dalton looks distressed. Dalton thinks, "WHAT IS A COUNTRY'S HISTORY GOOD FOR...!?" and "I HAVE TO... BRING AN END TO THIS COUNTRY...!" The gondola continues its ascent towards the castle. The bottom half of the page is a flashback. Dalton is being restrained by two guards, struggling and yelling, "LET GO OF ME!" Wapol orders, "THROW HIM OUT TO SEA! IF HE KEEPS ON RESISTING, YOU CAN KILL HIM!" Nearby, a group of doctors pleads with Wapol, "PLEASE STOP! I STILL HAVE COUNTLESS PATIENTS TO TREAT HERE!" Wapol, looking sinister, replies, "THE IMPORTANT THING IS STICKING TO THE SYSTEM!" Another official adds, "KINDNESS IS UNNECESSARY IN MATTERS OF GOVERNANCE!"

Dalton continues his internal monologue, "WHAT ARE A COUNTRY'S LAWS GOOD FOR!?" Vivi watches him with concern. A flashback shows Hiriluk smiling warmly, saying, "YOU DID WELL, PRINCESS VIVI..." while a young Chopper cries "WAAHH" in the background. Hiriluk adds, "NO ONE WAS SICK ALL ALONG..." and "THANK GOD." Back in the present, Dalton looks down, tears streaming from his eyes, his face contorted with emotion. He thinks, "IN A COUNTRY!?" and "WHAT'S SO WRONG ABOUT WANTING TO UPHOLD KINDNESS AND SYMPATHY,"

Usopp and Nami are shown looking surprised. Zoro looks up towards the sky, noticing something, and says "HM?" The gondola is seen approaching the castle. Someone stammers, "D-DALTON!" and "WAH!!" as they notice something alarming. The bottom panel reveals Dalton standing up in the gondola, his coat open to reveal numerous sticks of dynamite strapped to his chest. He declares, "ONCE I ENTER THE CASTLE." The villagers react in shock, yelling "DYNAMITE!?" Dalton commands them, "LISTEN UP, EVERYONE. I WANT ALL OF YOU TO TAKE COVER,"

The castle tower is shown still smoking from the explosion. Wapol looks around, confused, as the smoke begins to clear. He taunts, "STUPID HIPPO! DIDN'T EXPECT THAT, DID YA!?" and laughs "MAHAHAHA!" Suddenly, he realizes something is wrong and asks, "WHAT'RE YOU DOING!?" He stammers "W-W-WHA-" and grunts "NGHH!" as he feels something tightening around his mouth. The bottom panel reveals Luffy has stretched his arms and wrapped them tightly around Wapol's cannon-mouth, tying it shut. Luffy counts, "ONE, TWO..." Wapol panics, yelling "WHAA AAT!?" Luffy grins and retorts, "AND YOU DIDN'T EXPECT THIS, DID YA?" as he secures his grip with a "GRAB!"

Luffy holds firmly onto Wapol's tied mouth. Wapol struggles, yelling "WHA!?" and "AHH!" Luffy begins his attack, chanting "GOMU GOMU..." Wapol pleads, "LET GO..." but Luffy just tightens his grip with another "GRAB!" and laughs "HEE HEE!" In the large bottom panel, Luffy spins Wapol around at incredible speed, creating a whirlwind effect. He shouts the name of his attack, "BOWGUN!" as he prepares to launch Wapol.

Wapol is launched vertically into the sky with tremendous force, screaming "GAHH..." as he flies upwards. A trail of smoke follows his trajectory. The middle panel shows a close-up of Wapol's terrified face as he continues to ascend. In the bottom panel, Wapol crashes headfirst into the very top of the castle's highest spire, right next to the pirate flag fluttering in the wind.

A close-up shows Wapol's face smashed comically against the skull of the pirate flag. He grunts "HUH!?" and screams "AGHHHH!" as he makes impact. The middle panel shows Luffy landing gracefully on the snowy roof with a "STEP!" sound. In the bottom panel, Luffy stands proudly, cracking his knuckles with a confident grin. He says, "AHH-" and then sternly declares, "SHOULDN'T BE GOING AROUND TOUCHING A PIRATE'S FLAG!" He finishes his thought, "A POSER LIKE YOU,"

Luffy stretches his arms incredibly far back, preparing for a massive attack. He chants, "GOMU... GOMU..." Wapol, off-screen, panics and yells, "HEY, WAIT!" Luffy continues, "GOMU... GOMU..." The middle panel shows a wide view of the Drum Rockies, with Luffy's arms stretching across the vast snowy landscape. Wapol desperately tries to bargain, "I'LL BESTOW A ROYAL RANK ON YOU! AND A MEDAL OF HONOUR!" and "I'LL..." Luffy ignores him, shouting "GOMU...!" Down below, Kureha chuckles "HEE HEE HEE." and remarks, "IT'S BEEN BEATEN BY A PIRATE'S FLAG..." Chopper looks up in awe. Dalton says, "DOCTRESS... DRUM KINGDOM IS..." A villager points and shouts, "SOMEONE'S THERE!" Another yells, "LOOK! AT THE TOP OF THE TOWER!"

A massive double-page spread (or single large splash page) shows the climax of the battle. Luffy unleashes his attack, his hands slamming into Wapol with devastating force. Wapol's face is distorted in agony as he is blasted away, the impact shattering the stone around them. Luffy screams the final part of his attack name, "BAZOOKA!" Wapol shrieks "AAAGHHHHHHH!" as he is launched into the distance. A close-up of Luffy's intense, wide-eyed face shows him roaring "OOOOOHHHHHH!" with exertion. In a small bubble, Wapol's final, pathetic plea is heard: "I'LL EVEN MAKE YOU VICE-KING..."
