SLEEP

Nami stands tall, holding her staff, looking down at Luffy, Sanji, Zoro, and Johnny who are gathered on the dirt path. She asks coldly, "WHAT DID YOU COME TO THIS ISLAND FOR?" Luffy, smiling broadly and holding his straw hat, replies, "WHAT'RE YOU TALKING ABOUT? WE'VE COME FOR YOU, OF COURSE! AREN'T WE CREWMATES?" Nami glares back at him, her expression hardening as she says, "WELL YOU'RE NOTHING BUT A NUISANCE."

Nami's face is shown in a close-up, her expression cold and dismissive. "AND 'CREWMATES?' DON'T MAKE ME LAUGH. IT WAS NOTHING BUT A STUPID LITTLE COOPERATION." Luffy looks shocked, uttering a quiet "NA...!" Sanji suddenly swoons, hearts in his eyes, and yells, "NAMI! IT'S ME! DO YOU REMEMBER ME? LET'S SET SAIL TOGETHER! <3" Zoro angrily yells at Sanji, "SHUT UP! CAN'T YOU SEE YOU'RE MAKING THINGS MORE COMPLICATED BY BUTTING IN!?" Sanji yells back, "WHAT WAS THAT? DON'T YOU KNOW LOVE IS ALWAYS A HURRICANE!?" Meanwhile, Johnny points an accusing finger at Nami, shouting to the crew, "I TOLD YOU SO! SHE'S A WITCH! IF IT MEANS SHE CAN GET HER HANDS ON THE TREASURE HIDDEN IN HER VILLAGE, SHE'LL GLADLY JOIN THE ARLONG PIRATES AND EVEN KILL!"

Johnny continues his angry accusation, pointing directly at Nami. "SHE'S A COLD-BLOODED WITCH THROUGH AND THROUGH! YOU'VE ALL BEEN DECEIVED RIGHT FROM THE START! AND I SWEAR I SAW HER STABBING USOPP!" Nami remains completely unfazed, looking back with a slight smirk. "...SO WHAT? WOULD YOU LIKE TO TRY AND AVENGE HIM?" Zoro looks shocked and angry, exclaiming, "WHAT...!?" Nami turns her back to the group, looking over her shoulder. "LET ME TELL YOU ONE THING. AFTER THE IDIOTIC STUNT THAT ZORO PULLED, ARLONG WANTS RORONOA ZORO AND ALL HIS COMPANIONS DEAD. NO MATTER HOW MONSTROUSLY STRONG YOU MAY ALL BE, YOU'RE NO MATCH AT ALL FOR THE REAL MONSTER."

Zoro glares fiercely at Nami. "I COULDN'T CARE LESS ABOUT THAT. WHERE'S USOPP?" Nami smiles coldly and replies, "AT THE BOTTOM OF THE OCEAN." Enraged, Zoro draws his sword and charges at her, yelling, "THAT'S IT, I'VE HAD ENOUGH OF YOU! AND I'VE HAD ENOUGH OF YOU!" Before Zoro can reach Nami, Sanji intercepts him with a powerful kick to the face, sending Zoro flying back with a loud "BAM!!" Sanji stands protectively in front of Nami, asking, "DOES A SWORDSMAN HARM LADIES AS WELL, RORONOA ZORO?" Zoro snaps back from the ground, "THE HELL DID YOU SAY? DON'T BUTT IN WHEN YOU DON'T KNOW THE FIRST THING ABOUT ANYTHING!"

Sanji calmly smokes his cigarette, looking down at Zoro. "HEH... AREN'T YOU QUITE IRRITABLE AFTER YOUR SHAMEFUL LOSS." Zoro glares back, "WHAT!?" Zoro warns, "WATCH YOUR MOUTH, PUNK." Sanji retorts, "OR YOUR HEAD'LL GO FLYING. I'D LIKE TO SEE YOU TRY, CRIPPLE." Johnny panics in the background, waving his arms. "THIS ISN'T THE TIME TO BE BICKERING! THIS IS AN EMERGENCY!" Nami grips her staff and yells at them, "THAT'S RIGHT! IF YOU'RE GOING TO FIGHT, WHY DON'T YOU DO IT SOMEWHERE OTHER THAN THIS ISLAND? I'D RATHER NOT HAVE OUTSIDERS STICK THEIR NOSES IN THIS ISLAND'S AFFAIRS ANYMORE! DO YOU STILL NOT GET IT!? I ONLY STUCK AROUND WITH YOU FOR THE MONEY! AND NOW THAT YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE A CENT, I COULDN'T CARE LESS ABOUT YOU!"

Nami turns her back on the crew and begins to walk away. "IF IT'S ABOUT THE SHIP, I'LL GIVE IT BACK. SO GO FIND ANOTHER NAVIGATOR AND GO SEARCH FOR YOUR LITTLE ONE PIECE OR WHATEVER! NOW GET OFF OF THIS ISLAND! YOU'RE AN EYESORE!" She glances back one last time, saying, "FAREWELL." Luffy watches her go, his expression serious as he says, "NAMI." Suddenly, Luffy drops onto his back on the dirt path with a loud "FLOP...!!" Johnny is shocked, exclaiming, "AHH... BROTHER LUFFY!?" Luffy lies on the ground, looking completely relaxed.

Luffy lies comfortably on the ground with his hands behind his head, declaring, "I'M GONNA SLEEP." Sanji, Zoro, and Johnny all yell in disbelief, "SLEEP!? IN THIS EMERGENCY!? AND IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD!?" Luffy calmly replies, "I DON'T FEEL LIKE LEAVING THIS ISLAND YET, AND I DON'T REALLY CARE WHAT'S GOING ON THIS ISLAND EITHER... AND I'M SLEEPY." Sanji looks confused, "HUH?" Luffy repeats, "SO I'M SLEEPING." Nami, who had started walking away, turns back with a furious expression, her teeth drawn sharply like a shark's. "FINE, DO WHATEVER THE HELL YOU WANT! YOU CAN DIE FOR ALL I CARE!"

Nami storms off into the distance. Johnny yells at the crew, "YOU'RE ALL OUT OF YOUR MINDS! IT'S AS THAT INSANE WITCH JUST SAID! BROTHER USOPP'S BEEN KILLED, AND ARLONG'S OUT TO GET US!" Yosaku, crying with his headgear on, shouts, "JUST WHAT REASON DO YOU HAVE FOR STAYING ON THIS ISLAND ANY LONGER!? I, FOR ONE, BELIEVE IN WHAT JOHNNY SAID HE SAW!" Johnny, with his sunglasses on his forehead, adds, "IT'S ONLY BEEN A SHORT WHILE, BUT I'M AFRAID THIS IS WHERE WE MUST PART. WE HAVE NO DESIRE TO BE HUNTED DOWN AND KILLED BY ARLONG!" Zoro, sitting on the ground, replies calmly, "FINE. MAY WE MEET AGAIN SOMEDAY!" Yosaku and Johnny run away down the path, waving back. "TAKE CARE, MY BROTHERS!" "YOU TOO!"

Usopp is shown running frantically through the village, panting heavily and sweating. He thinks to himself, "IF SHE WAS REALLY A COLD-BLOODED WITCH, SHE WOULDN'T HAVE COVERED FOR ME...!" A flashback shows Nami forcefully stabbing her own hand with a knife, blood dripping from the wound. Usopp continues to run, his face full of realization and guilt as he thinks, "HOW COULD YOU... NAMI..."

Usopp continues his frantic run, thinking, "IF NAMI HADN'T DONE THAT, I WOULD'VE BEEN... KILLED FOR SURE BY ARLONG... FOR THE SAKE OF MY BUSINESS, THIS WAS THE ONLY WAY." He runs through the village streets, reasoning, "THAT OCTOPUS DUDE SAID HE GAVE ZORO A RIDE TO COCOYASHI VILLAGE. SO THE FIRST THING I SHOULD DO IS MEET UP WITH HIM!" Suddenly, he stops in his tracks, a look of panic crossing his face. "WAIT A SECOND. ARLONG SAID SOMETHING ABOUT ZORO LOOKING FOR HIM AS WELL. DON'T TELL ME HE'S CHARGING STRAIGHT FOR ARLONG PARK!?" Realizing the danger, Usopp sprints even faster down the road, yelling, "DAMN IT!"

Usopp sprints as fast as he can, yelling, "FASTER, USOPP, FASTER! PLEASE DON'T BE AT ARLONG PARK, ZORO!" He reaches the dirt path where Luffy is sleeping on the ground, Zoro is lying down, and Sanji is sitting against a tree. Sanji notices him and says, "HEY." Usopp, still running, replies, "WHAT?" Sanji asks Zoro, "YOU THINK NAMI REALLY KILLED LONG-NOSE?" Zoro answers, "WHO KNOWS? MAYBE AFTER I CALLED HER 'SMALL-TIME,' SHE GOT SO PISSED OFF THAT SHE REALLY DID KILL HIM." Sanji then looks annoyed, repeating, "SMALL TIME!?"

Usopp spots Zoro lying on the ground and runs towards him, crying tears of joy. "AHH! ISN'T THAT ZORO RIGHT THERE!? OH THANK GOD! I THOUGHT YOU MIGHT'VE GONE TO ARL..." Before Usopp can finish his sentence, Sanji suddenly delivers a brutal kick to Usopp's face with a loud "BAM!!" Sanji yells furiously, "NAMI'S BREASTS AREN'T SMALL TIME!" Usopp is sent flying, crying out, "BUGOH!" Zoro looks up from the ground, annoyed. "IS THAT ALL YOU CAN THINK AB..." Sanji looks down, saying, "EH." Zoro observes Usopp's crumpled body and remarks, "AH... HE'S ALIVE. BUT MAYBE NOT ANYMORE..."

Nami walks towards a house surrounded by lush orange trees. The gate closes behind her with a "SLAM". She drops her staff and a bag of oranges on the ground with a "CLATTER!!" and a "THUD!!". A woman with blue hair, Nojiko, is picking oranges from a tree and turns around, saying, "HM?" Inside the house, Nami is sitting at a table, resting her head on her arms. The room is messy, with broken glass and overturned furniture. Nojiko stands nearby, looking at the mess. "SIGH. NICE MESS YOU'VE MADE FOR ME, NAMI. WHAT'S WRONG?"

Nami insists, "NOTHING! I ONLY CAME TO TAKE A LITTLE REST, THAT'S ALL." Nojiko continues to question her, "IF YOU'VE ONLY COME TO TAKE A LITTLE REST, THEN THERE'S NO NEED FOR YOU TO BE BREAKING ALL THE GLASS AND FURNITURE. AND WHY WOULD YOU BE STARING SO INTENTLY AT THAT TREASURE MAP IF THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG?" Nami, looking stressed, replies, "I JUST LOST MY COOL A BIT, THAT'S ALL!" Nojiko reminds her, "DIDN'T YOU PROMISE TO TELL ME EVERYTHING?" Nami looks up, asking, "IT WAS THEM, RIGHT...?" Nojiko asks, "WHO ARE THEY?" Nami replies, "YOU'VE MET THEM?" Nojiko answers, "JUST THE CAPTAIN. BUT HE SEEMED LIKE A LIAR."

Nojiko looks closely at Nami's heavily bandaged hand resting on the treasure map. "I SEE... SO THEY'VE COME TO BRING YOU BACK..." Nami has fallen asleep at the table, soft "ZZZ" sounds indicating her rest. Nojiko watches her sleep, a sad smile on her face. "FRIENDS, HUH... I CAN SEE WHY SHE'D GET SO UPSET." Nojiko touches her own face, looking sympathetic. "THAT'S THE ONE WORD... THAT HURTS YOU MORE THAN ANYTHING."

Back on the dirt path, Luffy and Sanji look at Usopp's bruised face in shock. Luffy asks, "USOPP! DID NAMI DO THIS TO YOU!?" Zoro replies calmly, "UH NO. THAT WAS ACTUALLY BECAUSE OF HIM AND I." Sanji corrects him, "YOU MEAN JUST YOU." Usopp then notices Luffy. "AH, LUFFY! YOU'RE HERE TOO?" Luffy smiles and says, "YUP." Sanji cheerfully adds, "I'VE DECIDED TO COME ALONG TOO. NICE TO MEET YOU." Usopp, still angry about being kicked, mutters, "YOU...! I'LL KILL YOU ONE OF THESE DAYS!" Usopp then gets serious, stating, "IN ANY CASE, THE PROBLEM IS NAMI. SHE SAVED MY LIFE." He looks determined as he adds, "IF YOU ASK ME, THERE MUST BE SOME REASON WHY SHE ENDED UP JOINING THE ARLONG PIRATES!"

Nojiko approaches the group on the path. "IT'S USELESS. NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO, YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO CHANGE ARLONG'S RULE." Usopp recognizes her, "NOJIKO." Luffy asks, "WHO'S SHE?" Usopp explains, "SHE'S NAMI'S SISTER." Sanji instantly swoons, hearts in his eyes. "N-N-NAMI'S SISTER!? <3 WELL, IT'S NO WONDER WHY SHE'S SO BEAUTIFUL THEN! <3" Zoro asks Nojiko, "WHAT DO YOU MEAN USELESS?" Nojiko stands firmly, looking at them. "PLEASE DON'T INVOLVE YOURSELVES WITH THIS VILLAGE ANY FURTHER. I'LL TELL YOU ALL ABOUT HOW THINGS GOT THIS WAY, SO IN RETURN, I WANT YOU TO JUST LEAVE QUIETLY."

At the shore, villagers gather and murmur as they look at a large Marine ship docked nearby. "A MARINE SHIP IS DOCKED AT THE SHORE! IT'S THE 16TH BRANCH! COULD THEY HAVE COME TO INVESTIGATE, WHAT HAPPENED TO THE 77TH BRANCH SHIP THAT CAME BY EARLIER...?" A Marine Captain with a mouse-like face and ears, Nezumi, steps forward with a sinister laugh. "CHICHICHICHI... I'M CPT. NEZUMI OF THE MARINES 16TH BRANCH. BRING ME THE MAN NAMED GENZO WHO LIVES HERE IN COCOYASHI VILLAGE!" Genzo, a man with a pinwheel on his hat, steps up. "THAT'D BE ME. WHAT DO YOU WANT, CAPTAIN?" Nezumi orders, "YOU'RE GENZO? GUIDE ME TO THE HOUSE, BELONGING TO THE WOMAN NAMED NAMI." Meanwhile, Nami is shown peacefully sleeping at her table.
